What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Looks like after 2 days of blood sugars being somewhat varied due too this cold, I’m getting back some consistency. Wake-up was a 5.7, strengthened my carb ratio for breakfast a few carbs less / 1 unit and kept me under 10!! and back to its start point in 3 hrs. Anticipate over next few days will be back to my normal ratios

Morning All 6.7 today. Hot weather doesn’t suit me other than I eat less! Hope you are all well. Eye i jection yesterday was one of the better ones, not stingy with the anaesthetic which really helps. Thanks for good wishes
So pleased to hear that @PenguinMum. You must be relieved to have put that behind you.

Hello again. I'm back in the fold. @PenguinMum, I'm fine thanks. It was my 86th birthday on friday and I had my stepson and wife come over for the weekend from Holland and my granddaughter from London. I had such a great weekend. 7.8 this morning.
Happy birthday for last Friday

Hi Rosemary glad you had a lovely time celebrating your birthday with family and many happy returns. To stay on topic my fbg was 7.1 this mornimg.

Nowt wrong with a 7.1
I suppose I have to agree with you but I just don't seem to get down to those 4's and 5's that some people achieve on here and good luck to them for their achievements. When I first started measuring I was no stranger to 10's to 13's especially at night and a couple of points less first thing AM but those scary highs although not completely eliminated are much less apparent since concentrating on reducing carbs and caterpillar diet
I have a friend who is also T2 and on insulin with a blood glucose monitor. His readings are almost a constant 5 every hour of the day with little regard to diet which I suppose is why I get angry at my higher values but see a 5 as a target to aim at. Thinking about it now perhaps I should be grateful for anything in single figures and the green range on my meter but I can't help but yearn after a 5.0 for just one day.

I do lurk on this thread but rarely post as for me, 4 years in, I do have concerns that, for some people, measuring bg to 1 or even 2 decimal points it becomes too challenging or competitive or worrying

I do test myself most mornings and have learned that for me it's best to use it as a rough guide, a very rough guide and to viewed as a much wider than a daily picture.
I simply mentally tell myself
9 whoops, check for infection/illness
8 oh? What could be going on
7 mildly note to check again tomorrow
6 usual for me
5 nice surprise but rare
4 maybe had one once?

Then repeat again the next day and see if a pattern emerges. I really can't worry about a decimal place, or a single reading. If there are repeated higher readings of I might see if my diet or exercise needs tweaking but I'm usually back in the 6s (normal for me).

I try not to compare to someone else who may be different physically or genetic structure to myself, who may eat, exercise or sleep differently or who may have different stress levels to me. I am only concerned about me, and my body

You @ChrisT2 have made brilliant progress for you. You've got yourself into a normal range. Be proud, celebrate that, ignore others. Just look after yourself and your body.

I am going to stick this to my cupboard door as I do so compare myself and I shouldn't but its so hard not to at times. My 5s are are random times of the day and my solitary 4 well, the air turned blue lol Between the 5s and 6s I am a happy bunny but I do try and tell myself it is what it is, especially the fbg and dp mixed in.

It will happen and you have done so well, don't be so hard on yourself.
