What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.7 for me. Sadly by the time I’ve posted this and gone downstairs I’ll be lucky if I’m still in the 6s

Edit- just as I thought, 6.9 when I got downstairs. Hopefully scrambled eggs and mushrooms and a bit of exercise from collecting a table and chairs might do the trick.

Happy New Year’s Eve everyone.

Good morning everyone
Binged last night on small amount chocolate and nuts and packet crisp and a gin and tonic then there's all today's buffet food to cope with, this is not going to be a good outcome for me!

Hope you all do better than me!K

Morning...after celebrating my birthday yesterday feel relieved I woke to a 5.3 today...more by accident than design...I was a 'shameful diabetic on the 29th'...celebrated to the full...not intending to list my 'sins'...far too numerous to even contemplate...never mind commit to writing...needless to say I am back on track now...will be out walking...this morning...this afternoon...& possibly this evening...of course not at all influenced by an impending review next month...honestly:nailbiting:

Happy birthday by the way

I think we have all found in each other companions on our journey.

"
Every now and then
when the time is just right
a companion
joins you on your walking.

In the dark
you set a fire,
sharing,
laughing,
crying,
both faces lit and warmed
in generous flames.

To stories of shame of guilt of failure
of isolation of sadness of defeat
of love of desire of dreams
of romance of wonder of victory
they listen
with the ear of their heart
and respond
with the voice of their soul.

The road trodden,
its windings
its vistas
its hungers and thirsts
its people
its places
its bruises and blisters,
is always present.

Every now and then
when the time is just right
a companion joins your walking.
And in the gentle breeze,
that surrounds you both,
they let you know
they too can see the trodden road."

I don't think my son will mind me using his words here,
That is a beautiful and meaningful poem if that's the right way to describe the words he's written, very talented! K

Good morning all, late posting, did a Tesco shop before it got too busy..........6.8 getting back to my normal........Wishing you all a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year. Many thanks to you all for help and encouragement I've had from this forum this year, and for the humour too..........@JohnEGreen Thankyou for your sons beautiful poem .....really meaningful.

Yes...agree mince pies are truly evil...but...also delicious... especially my home made ones liberally laced with Port Wine & Brandy...thankfully they are now all removed from the house (ate quite a few).

Heh.. When I made them, they always seemed to.. evaporate. No idea where they all went. Other than the ones I tested to make sure the mince was ok, they were cooked, cooled. Home made ones are always the best. I used to prep the mince by soaking the dried fruit in brandy & dark rum and spices for a couple of weeks before baking :)

But such is temptation. Perhaps next year, I'll make some low* carb ones. Until then.. 6.4 yesterday, and 6.2 today. And my next food challenge is figuring out how to use the sardines I bought now that mashing them on toast isn't an option.

PS.. belated happy birthday! You have quite a challenge week :)

*it's relative. They'd be lower carb than candied fruit in a marzipan case..
