I would also love to know this - I think @Bluetit1802 said on another thread that it can take a long time.
Good morning everyone
BG @ 7.40 am 6.8
Only extra to my usual food was 1 roasted potato at evening meal,I had roast beef carrots turnip and cauliflower,
With a sweet of strawberries blueberries and cream,I'm at a loss unless it's a combination of above ground vegetables and the small potato? K
@Keesha i too think along same thought Has above ground grown vegetables have more carbs in them than those grown underground I've had same veg for last two days to use them up then I threw in a potato roasted so coupled with the small amount in the berries it all adds up at the end of the day. I need to be more careful about my veg and smarter with the occasional treats, will just see what happens over next week, only I'm off out for lunch tomorrow with my sister who is incidentally type1 diabetic but that doesn't mean I'm safe . Anyway will carry on and try to be more careful thanks for the information and hope your learning more from people on here each day,we cannot take our eyes of the ball with this beast of an affliction! KGranny_grump. Could it be a combination of carrot, turnip and potato that are the culprits. It sounds like a great tasty meal.
@ianpspurs does'nt take 2 hours of exercise these days to stress this poor body out believe me and I don't carb count that would stress me out,I just skip a meal like my doctor told me that way you naturally reduce carbs anyway that's the theory. But upto dealing with some health problem from last November and this carcinoma on my leg my BG on the whole has been good my last review my Hba1C was 40 prediabetic range, and I've only skipped a meal and not eaten after Evening meal until lunch next day, this incorporates a along fasting done mostly whilst I'm asleep. I find it much better than all that carb counting!K@Granny_grump_ Totally agree but you can also go too far My bg levels have gone awry for a few days. Now I have done some sleuthing I reckon I have put my finger on the cause. 2 consecutive days under 1200 cals with 2 hrs exercise probably stressed poor old body too much!
@Granny_grump_ Totally agree its all horses for courses. Guess I was getting at the point that you can try too hard as well - looks like that's what I did. A bit of "slow and sure wins the race" is needed at times with diabetesdoes'nt take 2 hours of exercise these days to stress this poor body out believe me and I don't carb count that would stress me out,
Just out of interest how long did it take all you lovely people with nice low fbgs to get there? I’ve been low carbing for a couple of months and hoped I’d be out of the water by now. Am I being unrealistic?
Several months - just looked at my spreadsheet. Looks like about 8 months after I started testing (which wasn’t immediately after diagnosis). To be honest, it’s the pre and post meal readings that are most important.
Hi @DJC3 just spotted this on my timeline I don’t tend to contribute to the fasting numbers as mine are so variable at times and can be affected by sleep or lack of it and stress. As @Goonergal says the most important numbers are the ones related to pre and post food numbers to make sure no big peaks going on! Hence I don’t contribute to this just keep my own numbers to see trends. I’ve also read a few threads in the past where people can still have highest fbgs but low hbaca1 s as it all more to do with what’s going on over 24 hours and avoiding any huge peaks caused by eating too many carbs mainly although stress can drive mine up too and intense exercises! Thanks Goonergal, that’s reassuring to know. Its not me doing something wrong, it’s just a long game. You’ve done so incredibly well it gives me hope and helps to keep me on the straight and narrow.
