What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning...cool here for the moment...a better sleep last night...woke to a 6 which is certainly better than the last two days...determined to get back to my 4 & 5's...back to walking providing it's not too hot...will get out early with 'phat boy' before those temperatures go up!

Good morning everyone. Sunny start here curtains drawn to shade TV for a Tom and Jerry and Scooby Doo fest with grandson. 5.2 for me so better start to the day but yesterday was very unusual in its eating pattern and I still feel the impact is more on weight than bg control. Still, if bg level stays here big problems should be avoided.

Morning all, returning member from about 6 years ago. Been distracted from looking after myself but trying to get back on track. Can't promise I'll post often, but need somewhere to celebrate my successes and confess my failings with those who understand.
Recently started LC and have lost 8kg in 6 weeks (only 30kg to go :sour:), and sugar levels seem much better too (never knew meters went down to the 4s!). However, I go on holiday to the USA tomorrow so could undo it all!
Today's FBG: 5.3

Morning all. 6.8 today at 7.45 am. Off to the airport at 5am tomorrow to greet visitors from USA who will be staying with us for 3 weeks so may not be posting here for a while but will be keeping a friendly eye on everyone's progress as/when I can. Happy August one and all. Stay well and happy. :)

I couldn't ditch the coffee rhubarb...never...just reading your post brought me out in a cold sweato_Oo_Oo_O
I may go back to it - since I know my coffee is zero carb it isn’t overall adding to the problem but may be affecting my biology/ chemistry. I’m just going to see what happens if I take it away for a day or two.
A cold sweat is a good thing to cool you down on a hot day - pleased to be of service.

Happy August everyone and gather happy Yorkshire Day too according to classic FM as someone born in Barnsley although now down south ! I’m taking the opportunity to celebrate today with my mum who’s brought Yorkshire down to us!
4.7 this morning.
I’ve been reading back just and truly shocked about all the sheer rubbish taught on all these courses that I wasn’t invited to thankfully and thinking that group legal actions ought to be started by all those diabetics who take the advice and end up deteriorating losing limbs etc. I find it very sad that the legal action that does take place seems to be against medics who stand up and advise on low carb - the tide will turn eventually hopefully.
Meanwhile on with Yorkshire day........

7.3 at 08.00. Disaster for me. I had small ramekin of KP nuts after supper of chilli and brocolli. Think chilli portion was bigger than usual too. BUT I am getting very stressed especially at night when my mind is on overdrive so I need to address that too.

Mindfulness? I’d recommend Headspace it’s got lots of short - a few mins- meds. Once you’ve got the basics you can use targeted sessions I use his end of the day session everyday as well as various other stress busting ones as needed during the day. I can bring my bloods down a notch now when they go up with stress but you do need to do it regularly for it to be effective. If you are one of those people like me who despite what they have eaten ie very low carb - finds stress puts bg up it really is effective well it works for me take care

Welcome back @gvigary! It sounds like you are already back on track. 8 kg lost in 6 weeks and readings in the 4-5s is excellent! :)
Have a good trip to US - but you might find it difficult to find low carb meals there.

6.7 today. After discovering yesterday that whatever pushes up my numbers over the course of the morning doesn’t happen at the weekends today I will be experimenting with no coffee. I hope it works because losing the caffeine hit will be challenging.

I had to do this too - it was much tougher than giving up cakes and bread. I found decaf doesn’t affect me and I now have normal coffee again but just with meals. Somehow the spike seems to get absorbed and isn’t so prominent.

Thanks Shelley so much. I will look into Headspace for sure. Yesterday was the second anniversary of my friends suicide and today is my estranged fathers birhday, always difficult days. Plus we are putting our house on the market and that is an experience I loathe.

Good morning all, 5.8 first thing. Dull and cool here. Think Ill do a long walk today.
Been experimenting with low carb cheesecake. Been looking for an occasional treat thats low carb. But may be sampling too much of my own produce, so have a few lbs to burn off.
Have a good one

5.3 this morning.
Just packing up the car for the long drive down to Cornwall for a few weeks to see daughters number 1 and 3 and my 2 grandchildren.
Enjoy your visit DJC3. :)
