Well I have mixed feelings about my diabetic review appointment. As expected I was greeted with the statement that my BS ( as well as cholesterol) level was of concern and we needed to discuss increasing my medication. I explained that since my last review 6 months ago I had been under a great deal of stress, pain and, due to my slipped disc, had not been able to exercise and was convinced they had contributed to my increased BS. She said it was all about what I was eating. (I admitted to some comfort eating). She recommended I eat green vegetables "every" day (OK with that) but frowned on my eating cheese, bacon etc and gave me the Diabetes UK meal planner which includes 2 slices of bread with lunch, spaghetti, lentils, bran flakes, porridge, rice, apple/muesli smoothie and snacks of carrots & fruit such as pears, banana, apple, orange, grapes etc. I explained that I'd been following a low carb diet. She said that didn't suit everyone. I referred her to my earlier results when I had my medication reduced as a result of my low carbing and exercise. I then suggested that now my slipped disc had improved I would prefer to increase my walking, get back on track with my eating and try and build in some "me" time then retest in 4 months. She agreed! So it was hard work but I achieved what I wanted and it has motivated me to be more disciplined and focused.
(PS: My HbA1C was 59. PPS:I won't be following the meal planner).
Well done

good morning folks, well it’s only 0700 here in the crazy city of New York.
Another flat 6 this morning, my internal workings are still massively confused about what time it is; up again at very dark o’clock.
We managed 12 miles yesterday according to my FitBit and are off to Brooklyn today for a wander round the parks.
It’s a bit nippy and breezy but that may have something to do with this:

Loving the trip report. @dunelm

Hope your having a great time.

@trick60 ...fair warning, bars been set, will be expecting similar from VEGAS BABY and "the streets of San Francisco "...;)

good morning all :)

5.2 yesterday and 4.8 today.

It's looking soggy here this morning but at least the gale force winds and horizontal rain of yesterday have abated

A volunteering day today so indoors for most of it, hopefully the rain will take the opportunity to get it out of the system ;)

Hope your day treats you kindly :)

I tend to agree with this Ian......
I dont really count calories nor carbs but can do on the back of envelope calculations . I find the difficulty is in determining feeling a real need, ie real hunger , getting used to the feeling of lower blood sugars , which seems to take a while to settle at various stages. ~Plus a niggling worry about the need to eat because of the prevailing ideology - instead of trusting the feeling of being just plain OK , or better than that . Its definitely a challenge.....

Yes, I agree with all of this and also find that separating the real from perceived hunger can be difficult. The desire to eat isn’t just based on hunger either, for me there seems to be a fair bit of psychology involved too.

Good morning from a frosty NW England.
My bg at 6am was 4.1. Awoke at 4.30 with a migraine 3rd night in a row. I am beginning to wonder if low BG is the cause of my night time migraines. I suppose I should test when I wake with one.
My waking BG a month ago before starting on low carb was 10.6! Low carbing has been a real revelation to me and I wish I had known years ago.
Have a good day

5.5 for me this morning.
@dogslife well done in sticking to your guns, you know what works for you.
@philchap1 wow! We’ve had a lot of hail in Cornwall, hurts quite a lot when you get caught in it and doesn’t even have the benefit of looking pretty.
@jjraak I’m enjoying your travellers tales - can’t believe the cost of your meal!

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.
Well folks, I have a minor ( very minor ) hospital procedure planned for tomorrow and in preparation for it I have to play games with my diabetic medication also my anti rejection drugs, which will make any blood sugar readings totally irrelevant, therefore please can I have permission not to post my readings, but to continue to post the usual nonsense and pet recipes.
Hand and foot note
I shall ignore anything said by the pet brigade, just so nobody feels left out ( my politically correct bit ) and everybody else hehehe.

Some Healthcare professionals do listen......especially if your are calm and rational AND have some evidence as you did
