Doesn't it !! I have added chopped bacon to my avocado and it's delish. Some of the choco ones look great too.
I think they're all a bit rich for me as just avocado is enough. Ok with some bacon but not sure I need all the grease, but enjoy!!

They sure would look appetizing on any plate!!

One of my favourite salads used to be avocado and crispy bacon and (pre-D) I used to love avocado mashed on to artisan toast with crispy bacon on the top. Really avocado and bacon are a match made in heaven.

I love growing veg - I've been out in the veg garden this morning planting and sowing different veg then realised that I might not be able to eat it. :banghead: Lets hope Mr Chook doesn't follow me to Zero Carb the way he did with LC otherwise I'll have to persuade my dogs that they want to eat the veg.

I just relooked at it as I never actually made it
It's GREEN for the C word!!

I loved avocado bacon and shrimp salads. One of my favs. I usually have precook chopped bacon in the freezer so very quick to defrost and top. No reason for the lettuce I guess.

When making guacamole for a crowd I use a bar drink muddled. Wonderful and so easy instead of a fork. I also make meatballs and avocado balls with a cookie scoop. Then they're flat on the bottom so they don't roll around and perfectly shaped. At least I found a use for a cookie scoop haha

When is your veggie night Chook? Sadly after getting all bloated last night I'm not sure I'll have a veggie night again. I can't stand feelimg bloated and after a week of absolutely no bloating I'm not sure I want to go back there.

I'm having some veggies on Sunday - only veg that I've grown myself so I know it hasn't had anything nasty sprayed on it. I've not noticed that vegetables bloat me particularly, I'm just a bit anxious about the bathroom issues. If you know what I mean. My tummy has never so settled as it has been while on ZC - definitely a big plus.

I use an icecream scoop for making meatballs - a proper old fashioned one from the 1960s. :)

I didn't realize veggies were such a huge culprit to my tummy and actually bathroom issues are much better as well. I don't think I've ever gone a full day without any. Now, after last night they are not appealing again. Go figure...
It will be interesting to get your report.

You mean the kind with the little lever that scoops them out? That was the only kind I like. Not the one that looks like a shovel haha. Well at least you have a use for an ice cream scoop. The cookie one just makes smaller balls.
I used to, and shop,d as I have ground turkey in the freezer, make turkey meatballs and just added rosemary Sage and oregano, salt and pepper of course and a little garlic oil and then I'd crumble them into my avocado. I'm ridiculous with avocado but it is as important to my bs as my insulin believe it or not.

I'm also curious as to whether you've lost any weight ?

When I first tried Atkins I did 20gm of carbs and lasted three days - I lost half a stone - 7lb, but was staggering about and crawling up stairs, so I looked up the problem and ate more - ascension weakness it is called.
I am happy at 60 gm of carb a day. I suppose I might adapt if I absolutely had to.

Coffee w/heavy cream, I make a home made low carb bread that has really helped me stay on track.
I'm giving Zero Carb a go - has anyone else tried it? I am experimenting with it as my BG has gone up a bit recently due to arthritis pain.

This is day 3 and so far it has been pretty easy - my BG dropped considerably the first two days but has bounced back up a bit today.

I know there are many versions of Zero Carb out there but mine is very basic - eat meat, fish, some cheese, eggs - drink water or black coffee (double cream optional). Basically eat or drink anything that hasn't got any carbs or artificial sweeteners. I have promised myself one small portion of my lovingly home grown above ground veg with my Sunday dinner each week.

Things I am not doing - I am not eating just one type of meat (I like variety) and I am not eating any raw meat

I am taking a daily multi vit tablet and magnesium (for the leg cramps which I got when I started low carb.

I would love to know if you have tried it and didn't get on with it - or if you're living a happy life on ZC.
Well thank you too!! You just made me realize how much even a few Brussels sprouts can induce hunger! I was just telling my hubby how I'm just not really hungry for anything anymore. Enjoying just a nibble here and there. Cheese avocado and Macs. I do enjoy a small amount of protein with lush and dinner and need it so I don't hypo. A few veggies late in the day or with a meal dont seem to be as bad as before 5:00.
I really enjoy not being hungry as I was always hungry for 50 years before avocado. Even excess protein made me hungry. Though I love veggies I love fat.
As I said earlier I inadvertently did this by just the simple aversion to veggies recently but you brought to my attention it did completely kill my appetite. I don't need to lose weight so we shall see where this goes but my stomach is much happier. I'll save my carbs for grapes ( wine ). I think we process carbs differently late in the day too.
Something to find out....
I adjusted the timing of my carb-intake, & made my evening meal almost no carbs, & ate the bulk of my carbs (about 30 grams/day) for lunch & snacks. So far, I have consistently been FBS in the lower 90's. No meds, pre-D 3 years.

I have to keep my protein lower at night or I'll have a highe fast as well as throughout the day.
Fast has been higher and needing a bit more insulin through the day but added a cheese snack at 5:30. There's a bunch of protein it and I have to watch protein very carefully.

I could easily just eat avocado with bacon crumbles for dinner. Now I'm craving it.

I have been low carb since November 16.
My HbA1c dropped by the end of December and was normal by March 17. Also my cholesterol and blood had dropped to normal. I have reduced my Metformin by 2/3 and am just awaiting the results of my recent blood test.
My low carb diet consists of cutting out bread, pasta, rice and any other pastry.
I have a fried breakfast every morning consisting of a turkey sausage, a turkey rasher, a fried egg and mushrooms all cooked in olive oil. Every 3rd day I have a two egg omelette made with mushrooms, a tomato, onions and cheese.
Rarely have lunch as the breakfast sees me through to dinner time.
For dinner I have homemade fish pie made with veg instead of potato, or lamb loins and grilled veg, or tinned red salmon & salad, or liver & bacon with veg, or chicken casserole & veg, or grilled fish & roasted veg, or chicken curry @ veg.
Basically all carbs are replaced with vegetables.
You don't tend to get hungry when you don't eat carbs so not tempted to snack.
I have also lost 20 kilos which wasn't the reason I tried this diet.

What cheese are you eating.. cheddar is 0.1g per 100g brie 0.4g per 100g so soft or hard.. low carb.. "zero carb" usually refers to no plant food ... not absolutely no carbs what so ever.
I am vegetarian, although I occasionally eat fish. I have high colestrol and my nurse and doctor want me on statins, but
I have refused them. Recently my good colestrol has gone down and bad up. How can I go low carb, high fat?

Yes, you've described normal low carb - I've been low carbing for the last couple of years fairly successfully. What I'm doing / experimenting with now is Zero Carb - no veg at all. Basically just meat, fish, a little cheese, cream, butter, coffee and water.

This thread is about Zero Carb - a diet which is basically the exact opposite of vegetarian with no plant based foods whatsoever.. :)

You might get a more suitable reply to your query about your vegetarian diet if you start your own thread and/or you might want to look at the low carb forum and I think there's a thread about what vegetarians eat.

Most of us find our cholesterol is worse when we eat carbs instead of fat.
Fat IN THE ABSENSE OF CARBS does not make us fat. For most this includes not fattening our arteries with cholesterol. Low carb high fat I proves many peoples cholesterol. BUT fat + carbs = fat. Both body fat and arterial fat in many of us.

As @Chook mentioned this is a thread about animal protein and fat completing the diet, not vegetarian. There are threads for vegetarians and vegans.
