What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Sunday....

B: Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Tomato, Tea
L: Smoked Salmon, Dollop of cream cheese, capers, salad leafs, olive oil and lemon
S: Bag of Walkers Crinkles (firts in over a year)
D: Lamb leg cooked on the BBQ, with Cauliflower Puree, Brocolli, Green Beans and something else which I have forgotten.

Shared a bottle of Shiraz, which is quite restrained for me
 
Are there Instructions ?

I only fry eggs, I always grill bacon and chipolatas, tomatoes and mushrooms etc etc.

The LCHF diet is about what you eat, not how you cook it.
Hi - yes it is, but i don't have a grill - so for me by choice, it is the slo cooker and oven, I only use the hob for boiling stuff, I don't like greasy things, never have done, even when I was a child, so I won't have that kind of breakfast I'll stick to boiled, poached and scrambled.

After a horrible few days with arthritis pain, I have come to the conclusion that it's probably related to dairy consumption, which is known to cause inflammation and pain in people susceptible to it. (I didn't realise I was, but I have certainly increased my diary consumption since following the LCHF plan.)
I'm looking at several non-dairy options, but if anyone has any suggestions I'd be delighted to hear about them. I'm really going to struggle without cheese and butter... :(
 
B - 9 Bar. L - Lidl high protein roll with two slices of smoked cheese, mustard, red onion and mayo. D - 4 Mushrooms, 1 small red onion, 3 cherry tomatoes in a small amount of tikka sauce with a small spoonful of rice mixed in. 1/2 a Lidl roll. S - Strawberries and 1 small scoop of Glace Soy Ice cream, 2 small handfuls of pistachios. 1 square of 70%.
 
Didn't test BG afterwards ( I think I was too embarrassed) and while I enjoyed the idea it wasn't heavenly and in fact made me uncomfortably full. Did test this morning and 4.3 so no real damage done but I am hoping this is not the unravelling
If you felt uncomfortably full afterwards and felt that eating it was OK but not 'heavenly', it seems very unlikely that you're unravelling. The fact that you can do this from time to time without any ill effects is inspiring, and very encouraging to the rest of us! :)

Just found your blog from in here, wow...you have some scummy looking recipes on there, and I have a feeling you've just made life a whole lot nicer for me lol! x

I think treats are ok, but maybe look at what you consider a treat? I wouldn't eat a cake now - my BG's would be so bad I think. I did make a sugar free mousse recently (sugar free jelly and double cream), it was awesome and so tasty. So I'd consider that a treat for me. Everything in moderation though - if a cake works with you good luck - I'm jealous
Aye, I felt bad all day yesterday about it and ended up having a really bad experience actually which Im sure must be related so lesson learned there, won't be doing that again lol... this sucks so much some times but I guess it could be worse!

I can honestly say, I never have a smokey kitchen or the smoke alarm go off, when frying. I've had it go off when the toaster cremated some stuff and the like!

I do use a frying pan, but don't always even add fat to it. I almost always dry fry bacon. I use a gentle heat to begin with, so that the bacon releases any water (if it's decent bacon, there should be minimal water released), then if there is any water I pour that off, then up the heat a hit, so that it renders down and becomes lovely and crisp, as if it has been grilled. I keep going until it's crop enough.

I drain it on a plate, on top of a sheet of kitchen roll, the use it as I see fit. I do quality sausages this way too. You could do bacon and/or sausages in the oven too.

If you don't like that way of cooking then there are sooooooo many options, if you google. You can eve Google "low carb whatever you fancy".

It helps to try to keep and open minded to begin with different isn't always worse. Some of the substitutions I prefer.

Have you been trying to follow a 2-week plan from somewhere?

Your welcome @debrasue, feeling better in my self, have a little pain in the evening. My fasting was 17 this morning and 13 just now. I've now gone 18 days without alcohol and 14 days without fags, so I've got to be doing my body some good. I think I'm craving sweet stuff though because of not having these. And I think I've lost a bit of weight because my clothes feel looser, although I haven't weighed myself. I think I need to do some baking like you do. I love to cook, but just lately I haven't felt like it so just been eating the wrong stuff. Anyway I have to get shopping on Thursday so I'm going to get some nice fresh ingredients and make some yummy healthy stuff. Thank you for all the encouragement you give. Xxx

What diet are you on? Instead of frying them, I poach them, or use a non-stick pan for frying. No point in forcing food you dont like down you. And I stop when i am full. LCHF fills me up so much i dont eat three meals a day anymore, i have two meals, 8 hours apart usually now.
 
I had a whole breast of chicken, roasted, made gravy with some chicken stock I had made from the bones from the previous roast, plus the juices from the chicken after roasting, and a heap of cauliflower and broccolli. It was delicious : ))))))

I am on the diet doctor 2 week LCHF. So far I have worked out what is best for me, and shall probably just stick to that. I don't feel hungry at all, and therefore no in between snacking, so I think given a few more days, i'll have worked out what's best for me - I have no problems with veg, as all the veg on the diet are exactly the veg i've always eaten, just in smaller amounts.

I've pretty much sorted it out now for what suits me.

Yes I've been following the 2 week DietDoctor LCHF plan, I must admit I'm enjoying my berries with cream or Greek Yoghurt.

I have to say I could happily have eggs in one form or another for breakfast every morning, and am so pleased I can still have my beloved butter. I love plain yoghurt - Greek preferably, so also pleased I can have that - one of the things I shall miss is bread, but then again, I ate too much of it before, I loved the little Burgen loaves - so tasty.

If you're having sweet cravings have you tried Triple Zero Stevia (zero sugar, zero carbs, zero calories but twice the sweetness of sugar - available from the online shop on this website)? It's brilliant for creating a safe, sweet hit in a drink or mixed with yoghurt. Or how about some low-carb pancakes? And Chocologic sugar-free chocolate is good, too, and won't spike your BGs.
I'm glad you're feeling a little better - hang in there, honey. As they say, this too shall pass! (And your BGs are heading in the right direction.) :)
 
Yesterday Monday
B Bacon / egg / 1 slice seeded bread
S 1 piece of 85% choc
L Half a tin of mackeral fillets in tomato sauce / 3 rivitas with cheese spread
S A few pork scratchings
D Stir fry with 1 stuffed mushroom with garlic and cheese. / greek yogurt with coconut and vanilla.

I didn't realize that there was an online shop here, will have to look that up. My fasting this morning was 3.2, so I had to have sugar in my tea. Crazy how much they differ. Thanks once again xxx
