Advice on Newcastle Diet for smaller women

Sorry @Naomi425 - not fair to torture you!

@Kristin251 I just spread it like mustard, or thicker and bake the salmon. In the UK we get different horseradishes, some sweeter, some hotter, so I always check the carbs, but if you want to make your own horseradish up using the herb itself, then a recipe like this works fine:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/horseradish_sauce
it is basically just the herb with cream and vinegar.

Naomi, correct me if I'm wrong but weren't you eating some dairy and low carb grains/ breads etc? Maybe you are inadvertently losing some weight by eliminating them from your diet. Maybe after your done with the 8 weeks staying away from those foods may continue to help weight loss and bs.

Asparagus broccoli Etc are great with squeeze of lemon juice. And as weird as it sounds I also like veggies with a swipe of Dijon mustard. Both almost calorie free.

Glad to hear it's a success so far.

Yes I was. It was working but v slowly and the threat of metformin was looming. The dairy/v small amounts of grains had no impact on my bgs. I tested all that with my monitor. But I cut my carbs down ferociously and was slowly losing weight. My theory is that I had a diet that worked to stabilise non fasting bgs but my weight is/was the problem (combined with a rubbish set of genes - thanks mum and dad)and until that comes down significantly then I'm not going to see the drops in fasting bgs that others are seeing on Lchf even though they are way more overweight than me: make sense?

Also I'm not eating dairy or grain on the ND (might be some dairy in the weird shakes I guess)

I get you. I think the issue is isulin resistance. It is partly due to being overweight, and often due to hormonal and genetic issues, but it is the insulin resistance that drives up the fasting bgs, and makes it difficult to get into ketosis and get the massive bg drops and weight loss that some ppl get.

Fasting and keto both help, and you are effectively doing the fasting by doing the ND.

Thanks Brun. My view too. Fbg is dropping slowly. When I get below 8 that'll feel like it's working. Very close now

Slightly constipated and still cold
Had both of those. Someone on here suggested to me a little Pysillium Husks each day for the constipation and they did the trick. The coldness was around for many weeks and just had to rug up.
Cheers

Ahh... Psyllium husks. I'll try that. Been drinking 2 litres of water/green tea/coffee each day and adding salt, but 5weeks in I still need a bit of Milk of magnesia, which I don't think I should by now. Psyllium husks here we come

8.4 Fbg this morning. So I think I've cracked the dawn phenomenon (well done that liver). I now just need to crack the high bgl

Cold and tired today. Working out in about 30 mins. Think I may fall asleep mid lunge or squat

Hmm seems to be plateauing . Fbg 8.5 no weight loss for 3 days. Keeping at it

Don't give in Naomi, I'm sure your weight loss will continue, with resolute determination. Keep going. !!

Not to worry Naomi. When I'm on a weight loss journey I tend to lose a bunch in the first week or so and then I plateau for a week or two and then start losing again.

I wonder why fasting isn't coming down. How are your day time numbers?

You either love or hate psyllium. It stops my digestion in its tracks but some people have great results

That's normal.
Your body have used all the easy to get to glucose stores, and you've lost the water they were held in.
Now you'll switch to using fat, so things will start moving again soon.

Fbg staying in low 8s as are the 2 hours post dinner(250g veg) readings. My weight actually has gone down another pound. So I feel a bit better. I'm not going to give up guys. Just the weight loss in the first week was so amazing and I thought I might manage 2 weeks before plateauing. But I guess being small and only just overweight now (BMI of 25.6) means some things are faster and some slower. Also as I'm finding the diet relatively easy (despite wearing jumpers in 25c heat at the diving on Sunday) I'm going to carry on whatever as weight loss is good even if it doesn't reverse my diabetes (heart disease runs in the family too: love my genes)

But it was .8 lower than my pre bed reading. So I think my liver must have given up
