What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

yesterday

B: coffeesubstitute with cream
L: out to cafe and dog walk. The do something called 'Dirty Fries'. Choice of 8 different options. I chose the one with pulled pork, cheese and BBQsauce. Very curious. It came as a good portion of chips with a hefty dollop of not-too-sweet pulled pork on top, scattered with grated cheese and a tiny criss-cross drizzle of BBQsauce over that. I ate all the toppings and maybe a 1/3 of the chips, and then walked briskly with mutts. Blood glucose hit 8 for 10 mins (on Libre) and then returned to normal pleasantly quickly.
D: another evening of lasagne for him, moussaka for her. With salad. He wants it again tonight, but I may try and dodge that, because you can definitely have too much of a good thing!

Arrrggg! And again Arrrggg!
Bed 7.2 FBG 7.4 - acceptable in the throes of coughs, sneezes , sore legs but then it shoot up to 9.8 - Geeesh. Trying hard to fast but I'm forced to eat to bring it down. Last night was worse. Came nicely down to 5.2 after dinner, got to 8pm and it rose and rose and rose....12.2 before it decided to start dropping again. So, gone for the safe option.
B. That omelette again since I know it barely increases my BG and it's lower after 2 hrs.
Black coffee.
L. Nothing won't need it. That omelette fills you for hours.
D. I may have that omelette again mainly because I know the BG effect and it is yummy.
Apart from that it will just be loads of water.
Yesterday I was hit by the kind of 'why the heck do we bother mood' but quickly kicked it into touch and now I'm just plain angry with my out of control BGs.
I don't feel too unwell. It is just a cold but the effect is sooo annoying.

Tea
B: 2 poached eggs on M&S seeded batch bread, milk
L: Ravioli, & some mini chicken sate sticks, Activia yogurt
T: Chicken breast wrapped in bacon & a small portion of dauphinoise potato, 2 sugar free digestives, coffee
Tea throughout the day.

Happy Friday everyone. BGs hanging on in there and no sign yet of DP. Bed 6.6 FBG 7.5 and it's hanging on in there at 7.9 for quite a while now. I've had that omelette again and will be off to aqua fit in about an hour so hopefully that will keep in in line.
B. That omelette again. Jammed full. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream.
L. Nothing
D. Rack of spicy ribs and a tablespoon of coleslaw.
Lots of water!
So keeping it simple with known foods. No horrid spikes last night so I hope this is the end of it now.

Hi all.

Breakfast - none

BGs seem to be stabilising again. A bit higher than normal still but nothing drastic. No 1 grandson is feeling a bit unwell so no swimming this morning. Got an extra lie in instead.
Bed 7.5 FBG 7.1 and post breakfast I'm hanging around 7.9.
B. 2 scrambled eggs with parsley and a slice of Hovis lower carb seeded with lurpack. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream.

Saturday ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and xylitol. Prawns with Swiss chard, eggplant and bit of bellpepper fried in galangal, garlic and sambal oelek, roasted bellpepper, eggplant, and fennel.

Lunch: A small slice of red beet quiche and half a low-carb roll with goat cream cheese and smoked sockeye salmon.

BGs definitely stabilising again (but still a bit higher than pre bug but getting there). Bed 7.1 FBG 6.7 - rose to 7.3 then dropped again so hopefully DP is loosening its grip too.
B. Nothing
L. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream. Slice Hovis lower carb seeded with cream cheese and a slice of ham.
D. Sunday again. Campari and soda and a wee prosecco. Start - spicy ribs with a cheese and chive dip. Hake fillet with asperagus and celeriac. Also have crayfish and a couple of lobster tails. Might just use in a buttery sauce with the hake or a creamy one - don't know yet. Need to get chia pudding made (others having puff pastry mince pies with brandy sauce - sooo jealous!).

Yesterday:

B: scrambled eggs
S: a Morrisons gluten free raspberry macaroon
D: homemade GF lasagna/moussaka combo. I had the moussaka end of the dish.

Today:
B: bacon and eggs
L: possibly another macaroon. they are delish, and I will be doing a fair bit of cleaning, which just burns through blood glucose, doesn't it ;)
D: more lasagna/moussaka, I suspect. There isn't room for it in the freezer, so we are tidying it away... lol

I've added curried cauliflower slices to the mix and Chia Pudding has been in the fridge a few hours now. Dropped the Green beans and going for butter and white wine and parsley in the sauce. That hake was very boney. Took a while with my fish tweezers to debone. Hope I got them all.

B Smoked salmon & scrambled egg (Sunday treat)
L Avocado, tomato, cucumber, pate & mayo
D Venison casserole, steamed veg
Later: remains of mug-cake-type "Xmas pud" from recipe given on the forum.

Fennel is another of these things like peanut butter that I think I should like but I can't bring myself to like it no matter how hard I try.

Lunch: Nothing.

@maglil55 -- so glad to hear that your readings are coming down somewhat. Diabetes can be frustrating at times. I also agree that fennel tends to be a bit of an acquired taste -- a bit like licorice, but I also enjoy tarragon very much, which also tastes a bit like licorice in my opinion.
