Recently my morning sugar readings rose to 10.5 and surgery changed my metafomini to slow release ,is there any other way to bring it down. Thanks
well yes , metformin no matter which kind only helps very little, this condition is really only helped by controlling how many grams of carbs one eat in a day , try initially to go under 150 grams in total in a day, most type 2 diabetics can get normal levels of blood glucose if they count their amount of carbs they eat daily.... there really isn´t any way around changing one's food choices.. well and then there is exercise and long walks, which also help a lot in lowering blood glucose
the easiest way to start changing food style is to eat a breakfast almost without any carbs like ham and eggs, or half an avocado with maybe mayo and shrimps, or maybe eat some meat for breakfast or cheese,
then there is the problem with bread... actually white toast and bread in general spikes ones blood glucose almost just the same as do sugar.... so stop eating bread or eat only half a slice a day if bread and the same with potatoes...
there are really a lot of delicious foods one can eat a lot of, but you need to learn which and maybe how to make them also if you like cooking.
