What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Evening all. Today has just disappeared. @shelley262 very envious of your summer without work.

Managed not to eat quite so much today.

Breakfast - none

Lunch - salami and smoked cheese followed by 25g almonds.

Dinner - the last of my leftovers of the old style Waitrose lamb kleftico. Will miss that now that they’ve meddled with the recipe and ruined it. Followed up with 25g Sainsbury’s 85% chocolate.

@shelley262 you sound like you’re in a real holiday mood, that’s great. I should think you could do with the break. The morning swim sounds heavenly, I went to the local pool this evening which was nice but not in the same league.

B: fluffy omelette with feta and spinach. Coffee and cream.

My old next door neighbour rang to invite me round for coffee this afternoon and asked if I ate cream cakes. When I said no she listed a load of other cakes as she insisted we must have cake too. I suggested I bring a low carb cake along and she was pleased with that - so then had to rush around making the trusty lemon drizzle ( I thought there was a lot more of the lemon zucchini cake left, but people have obviously been at it)
L: few walnuts and olives

Afternoon tea: lemon drizzle cake with cream and a cup of tea with milk.

D: salmon fillet and a few prawns with salad of leaves 1/2 tomato and avocado. Decaff coffee and cream.

That shouldn't be a problem; I remember my old Dad riding his BSA 650 Gold Flash he was 5'2", my late FiL had one and was 6'2". I never quite made the 6', stopped @ 5'11 3/4" but I've shrunk a bit now: must have washed too much!
BSA in these parts = bl**dy short *rse

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: ham and extra strong cheddar with cauliflower and broccoli salad followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon: raspberry chia pudding and black coffee.
Dinner: tuna melts and more cauliflower and broccoli salad followed by strawberries, chocolate and hazelnut Oppo with a sprinkling of LC chocolate granola.

Have you ever thought, like me, that one of the more unfair aspects of ageing is shrinking: the more you lose height, the more you need to lose weight to maintain the same BMI?

Breakfast:
Lunch: ham and extra strong cheddar with cauliflower and broccoli salad .

@Rachox I’m intrigued by your favourite salad of broccoli and cauliflower - is just raw florettes? Do you blanch or stir fry? Use any sort of dressing?
I often nibble a raw cauli florette while I’m preparing one but havent ever used it as a salad ingredient, and I’ve never considered raw brocolli.

@DJC3 Rachox will obviously speak for herself but our local Waitrose used to have a salad bar and there was definitely cauliflower and broccoli just as nature intended.

Yup as @ianpspurs says @DJC3 , I just eat raw chopped cauliflower and broccoli sometimes with another ingredient such as sweet pepper or raw mushrooms. I like that it has a bit more substance than just leaves :)

@Rachox and @DJC3 that combo was just what we used back in the day. I would have had it swimming in a balsamic dressing back then acv now maybe. Do you use any old broccoli @Rachox as I only envisage it working with tenderstem type?

I just buy cheap and cheerful Tesco fresh cauliflower and broccoli florets. I forgot to say, sometimes have mayo or Caesar salad dressing on it

@Rachox and @ianpspurs thanks both. It must be a lot healthier eating them raw, I think I’ll have to wean myself in gently by adding to other salad with a big spoonful of mayo.

@DJC3 Just occurred to me that the French remoulade type salad with celeriac would be an amazing carrier for these veggies. Our boys loved this and may have been known to fight each other for last tub.
Can't usually stand the woman but swap the sugar and this Mary Berry recipe works pour moi

Nice idea, I love celeriac remoulade but chopping/ grating celeriac is too much of a fag ( I haven’t got a food processor) cauli and broc are much easier.

Wow @DJC3 I somehow imagined you as a foodie with all the tools and trappings. Chopping is easy just cut into circles and remove edges. I have added the making of this to Mrs Ps appraisal targets and she believes the spiralizer I kindly provided her one wedding anniversary or Christmas :angelic:would work ( well, you have to look after the staff)

Haha I did have one but sent it down to Cornwall for my daughter to use, along with my Nespresso coffee machine and my favourite G&T glasses. I am regretting all 3 now.
I am trying to avoid buying more gadgets as the kitchen there is small and I am aiming for a simpler life ( won’t happen but that is my plan atm)

@DJC3 I am loving the 1st world problem of selecting which G and T glasses to use:angelic: On another note, I am feeling like I am sploshing around having had 5 pints of tea since about 7.30. In a previous incarnation 5 pints in 4 hrs after cricket, rugby, football or training would have been lightweight and seen me branded as some kind of healthy living freak to be avoided at all costs.:wideyed:
