Etymology is fascinating, isn't it? I took a course at university 25 years ago and was hooked. It's so interesting to see where words come from and how they are related.Good morning everyone. My last day on the dreaded prednisolone. A 9.2 this morning, drat, drat, and double drat.
A bit high but nothing to be afraid of.
“Fear is a strange soil. It grows obedience like corn, which grow in straight lines to make weeding easier. But sometimes it grows the potatoes of defiance, which flourish underground.”
― Terry Pratchett, Small Gods
Off to My alma mata, Durham, today for a wander round. It’s how I got the name Dunelm; the post-nominal abbreviation for Dunelmensis (Latin: of Durham), indicating a degree awarded by the University of Durham.
A hug for the 9.2 but I think a congratulatory star for coming of the dreadful prednisolone must admit I wish I could dispense with it.Good morning everyone. My last day on the dreaded prednisolone. A 9.2 this morning, drat, drat, and double drat.

Really, only just heard of the fried sprats and mulled wine diet - I'm amazed. Where have you been?Could this be the start of something?
Yesterday I drank mulled wine, ate fried sprats with bread and butter and this morning Madam stormed in at 4.9!!
The food and wine might be the next new trend. The wine was from the Christmas market in Broad St, Oxford and the sprats from the Kings Arms. A fun day. Today I'm off to a nibbling event which will almost certainly mean eating things I shouldn't but after yesterday I just might.Really, only just heard of the fried sprats and mulled wine diet - I'm amazed. Where have you been?![]()
