What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Oh my! I’ve bought something from UK Amazon before; wonder if this would come too? My older son very much enjoys setting his mouth and digestive tract on fire. Found a hot lime pickle by Patak on my Amazon and it’s shipped from UK. Hot not for me though.

That lime pickle is one of my husband's favourites. Their aubergine one is one of my favourites. :)

Evening all. BG has been running higher than usual all day for no obvious reason. Hopefully not coming down with anything.

@dunelm thanks for the bone broth ideas. Will report back after the weekend.

@Chook 12 carrier bags of shopping is very impressive.

I’m finding all sorts of goodies stashed away - hid a few things before carnivore month. Uncovered a pack of 6 Hotel Chocolat 80% praline chocolates today and a ginormous stash of nuts.

Lunch was early - so hungry I felt ill during a morning workshop. Luckily had some M&S rollitos in the fridge at work so downed those during a coffee break.

Dinner was bone in sirloin steak with some of the buttery, limey marinade left over from last night followed by a single serve of almond butter with extra thick Jersey cream and then 2 of the pralines.

Was he well hydrated? I kept having this issue with my brother and BP tended to be low because he just wasn't getting enough water down him. It is scary though. My brother was 6 ft 4 ins - it was a long way to drop. Hope Mr B is improved.
Ironically, I'd been at him for not drinking enough water. Now he has better managed BG, he no longer drinks like a fish. So, I bought him one of those infuser bottles (the kind you put lemon and lime in) to get him to drink more. It did the trick and he drunk more, the only problem was that meant a trip to the bathroom in the night! He's not needed to do that in quite a few months I think! A while back, he'd had a few dizzy spells getting up in the night, so he took more care to rise slowly. He completely forgot yesterday morning and obviously got up far too quickly.

@Brunneria sorry about the w**k **#%! You must have been high as a kite for hours after that Lindt bar, wheeee! Garlic pickle! Is it sour, sweet, whole cloves, chopped up? I could get behind garlic pickle, it sounds delicious!
@BibaBee oh dear. I hope Mr B is recovered now, and any future episode happens at a more convenient time.
@Chook not only cautious re sending the men to dr, but I’m selfish! I want him around as long as possible thankyouverymuch!
@Rachox that fritatta photo ought to go on the cover of Southern Living magazine!! Or at least Martha Stewart (regardless of what I may think of her, the magazine is splendidly photographed!)
@maglil55 I am worn out just reading about your day! You are strong! Hubby carries an old worn out pair of trunks in his bag at all times in case he forgets, or, as happened once, the inseam fatigued to failure during a swim and he had the dickens of a time making it to his towel in decency
Thanks! I don't want another episode to be honest...it scared me silly!

May well have to invest in this! I love garlic!!! And spice!!! Sounds amazing!!!
Add me to the list! Anything with lots of garlic and I'm there. I was excited to discover that lime pickle is LC....an acquired taste, but I love it!

@Emma_369 You look stunning in your new avatar! Is the dress one of your recent shopping trip purchases?

Thanks @Chook and maglil! It was behaving VERY dysfunctionally... seems ok now I hope.
Had a mug of leftover chicken broth with butter for lunch, have to work this afternoon. We shall see if I can support my sound Feeling pretty empty already.

Been there - more than once but to be honest I'd rather toddle to the loo than be dizzy. My body must have adjusted since now I usually make it to 7am without having to get up. I have water all over the place so I can always get a drink. Hubby always brings me a pint of water packed with ice at bedtime too. I think once the habit is acquired it never leaves you.

Hi @Goonergal, I make lots of bone broth as my butcher sells me a carrier bag full of bones for 60p which does 3 to four lots.
Generally, roast your bones first. Yes, add marrow bone in you like.

## Whatever you put into your slow cooker, cover it, just, with water as a guide. So, don’t completely fill your pot.

I switch mine on, put in the ingredients, don’t forget cider apple vinegar, then add boiling water.
Once going , turn down low.
I start it first thing in the morning then check before I go to bed. Probably a bit manic but there you go.
If, in the morning it looks a bit watery then drain the liquid into a pan and reduce. Not found that I need to do that.

I store a lot of mine in cubes so that I can add to cooking or just make a hot drink. Quite good also just put in a pan and then some chili flakes and sliced mushroom chucked in.
Have you also a pressure cooker - it does well there.

Here is one of a myriad of recipes available on the wonder web.

Making ghee at present so best get on with it.
@Goonergal let us know how it goes.
I’ve only ever done chicken stock and add a few veg bitseg celeriac peelings, tops of spring onions, onion granules, celery etc.

The lime pickle is a bit too hot for me, but the brinjal (aubergine) one is gorgeous. Carbily sweet, but very, very nice.

Today, I finished the last of the Xmas chocs. :bigtears::bigtears::bigtears:
So now I get to start on the birthday chocs :D:D:D

Prawns in garlic pickle mayo, for lunch.
Goatsmilk yog at 4pm
Am about to have chicken thighs in harissa butter, with the fabled oomi noodles.

Life is good.

I have been very clear, I will be telling you what I ate today but I may postpone that a few times. The wind made walking the dogs less than strong and stable but nothing has changed - now back to business.
Breakfast and Mid morning; Tea; Lunch:Cheese and cucumber sandwich - flaxseed and hemp flour bread; sub- optimal for satisfying hunger and not a great success but it was made with love and care and I have no idea what food puts me on the naughty step from 1 day to the next anyhow ; Afternoon - Cocoa - almond and soy milk with some double cream
Evening meal: IP Chicken (2 .5 thighs, mushroom, celery and smoked chicken sausage) casserole; coconut cream to thicken; still hungry so had slice of the Christmas Stilton and 2 hard boiled eggs
Update: Will either have to go to bed early, drink a lot of water or eat more cheese which will be a disaster; have plenty of 100% chocolate but can't bring myself to pretend I can eat that any more.

Bed 5.7 FBG 6.1. Half term holiday Yeah!! Not that it means I'm grandson free but I do get a bit longer in bed. Although I'm so tuned to the early rise it doesnt work that way. Boys at school this morning but I was told no work, instead it was Charlie and the chocolate factory. Picked them up at lunchtime, handed them food to eat and straight to Lego Club. They declared they were coming back to mine. Hubby has a cold but No 1 very kindly told him to go and sleep in his room then he could watch TV in bed. It's been an odd day - sun one minute then a torrent of rain the next.
B. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream.
2 Tesco chorizo and gouda rollitos.
L. The very last of the M&S bits. About tablespoon of each. Mozzarella Pearl's, anchovies and tuna with beans and red onion.
D. Hubby decided he wanted Chinese from a Chinese so I had to debate what to make for myself. Took a bit fillet out of the freezer and once thawed did thin slices with my trusty Chinese cleaver. Used following recipe more or less but added some onion, tomato and green pepper to the mix. Grated some cauliflower, chucked peas in , stir fried, added Tamari soy and that was it.
Might have some blackberries, raspberries and cream later.

Hope everyone has had a good Friday - I was hungry today so back to my normal three smallish meals no fasting or missing meals.
Breakfast bacon, egg and one buttered lc crisp-bread.
Lunch two lc buttered crispbreads topped with German ham and slices of vintage cheddar followed by a few nuts, one of my Christmas HC pralines and two 100% chocolate buttons
Dinner two lamb loin chops on bed of mushrooms and cauli rice served with yoghurt and glass of red followed by lc raspberry mousse and cream.
Perfect food for a wet windy day but feeling very full now.

Thank you - yes it’s my London night out outfit. I get bored quickly of my avatars so will forever be changing

I buy unsalted butter. something nice. I like that Irish stuff.
Cut it up, it just quickens the melting. Pop into a pan and heat up on a medium heat.
Once it begins boiling, keep stirring round the edges to encourage milk solids to sink.
It sort of stops boiling and then begins foaming. You are still stirring round the edges.
The foaming bit lets you know that it’s done.
You can then strain into a container. I use a glass jar and just strain it through an old tea strainer. Muslim if you are fussy.
If you have brown milk solids in the bottom of your pan then it has worked.
