What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Breakfast : Brie and walnuts. One Pink Lady apple.
Lunch : Sausage, bacon, egg. 1 x 200 ml glass of full fat milk.
Dinner : A generous bowl of Greek yoghourt with forest fruits.

All washed down with tea.

Snacks : 25g x 85% chocolate. Walnuts and cheddar cheese. Some sugar free liquorice.

Quite a relaxing day today, spent some time weeding the garden and with the sun on my back and the birds singing I felt full of the joys of Spring.
Breakfast today: A fried egg with bacon and grilled mushroom
CWC
L: M&S Prawn and Orkney crab cocktail with 1/2 avocado then a lc Bounty
D: A Thai chicken curry. Didn’t fancy cauli rice again so made cabbage poriyal instead - basically shredded cabbage cooked in coconut oil with mustard seeds, fresh ginger, chillis and turmeric. It was really lovely and a nice change.
Some if the Alpro soy yoghurt and grated choc to follow.

Evening all after a **** jolly fine Spring like day. TWAM until about midday then CWC plus GABVEDCM (2 rows). Egg sandwich (2 slices livlife mini bread) and 1 HBE (hard boiled egg) at about 2,45; burger with 2 slices melted emmental plus h/m red cabbage coleslaw about 7.25. Working my way through a few different menus and timings.

How was that, okay?

It tasted quite pronouncedly of almonds - like almond essence really, and was surprisingly sweet. But it was nice with the grated chocolate on top. There was an unsweetened plain variety too which had zero carbs. I’ll try that next.

I tried the plain variety a few weeks back. It needed something to go with it, I recall.

Yes thanks feeling fine just need a decent nights sleep. Think I might need to increase dosage of my digestive enzymes with meals so will get that ball rolling with surgery on Monday. I do pretty well 7 years with an incomplete pancreas but as we know nothing stays still for long. The almond yogurt looks interesting, will look into it, wonder if they do small pots, if its new they probably will soon.

Ah I thought it might, maybe some raspberry chia jam or stewed rhubarb?
In retrospect I think The almond one was quite thin and runny - would probably work best with overnight oats really. Not as rich and satisfying as Greek yog.

B. 2 slices of HiLo toast with melted cheese, black tea, black coffee
L. In cafe. Small spinach and feta quiche, beetroot and chickpea salad, lettuce, tomato, cucumber.
Snack. Mixed nuts
D. Fried fillet of sole, purple sprouting broccoli, roasted cauliflower and chickpea salad.
Rhubarb stewed with stem ginger, Greek yoghurt.

@dunelm sounds like a wonderful break you got there! Tell about making kefir please?
@Listlad and @ianpspurs I guess almond butters differ, but none of the ones I see is salted. I found that unusual but good to my taste. I’m with Ian on salt taste. Eating in restaurants is a challenge.
@BibaBee @Listlad @SlimLizzy @DJC3 sorry to say, (and @dunelm ) that grilled cheese sandwich was made with traditional quick bread... I make an8x8 pan and keep most in the freezer. It has lots more flax in proportion to almond than the mug bread I’ve been working on. Probably more time-effective to invest the hour to make the big pan, for me anyway. But nobody said I was always successful in my pursuit of efficiency! I’ll try to figure out how to put in my own recipe on CMT. All I can think of is to capture a useless recipe, and edit it out of existence! :hilarious:
I am sitting in rehearsal here, waiting out my time. I play an “offstage flute”
part which comes as the very final notes of a wonderful American work which is in essence a Jewish Requiem Mass. so for the concert I’ll sit in the audience for an hour, then theoretically pick up my stone cold flute and walk out of the hall (a synagogue this time) playing in a gently manner while moving fast. Marching band was 50+ yrs ago, give me a break!
Bfast the rest of the pretty darn awful frozen avocado with hm salad dressing, and halfway through added the egg and mooshed them up. Much improved the flavor, and tomorrow it’s back to fresh avocado.
Lunch 16 oz chix broth from freezer with PINK salt! Never had it until last week and it’s got such a gentle flavor; I love it for broth. Maybe some seltzer.
Supper TBA. Spinach and celery and maybe some cherry tomatoes for starters. Need the crisp cold crunch of that celery!
Before I left this morning I put on an IP of chix broth for Mr MizzableZF. I am driving him to urgent care this afternoon because his cough went from benign to really nasty in about 8 hrs 4 days ago, and he is reallllly puny for the third day in a row. I swear, the internet has learned how to carry germs!
Hope MrZ is feeling better today. This is link to the recipe i was going to try; https://moniquebradley.tv/low-carb-breakfast-buns/

Evening all. Decided my weekends will involve basically feasting in an attempt to gain the weight I seem to be losing in the week with the swimming. So:
B: peanut & chocolate protein bar with coffee
Mid morning - 30g dey roasted peanuts
L: 4 rashers smoked bacon, 2 poached eggs and some cheese
Mid afternoon - my new recipe of the week and the best dessert I’ve eaten since being diabetic https://www.dietdoctor.com/recipes/low-carb-molten-chocolate-cake/servings/2 I used green & blacks orange & almond chocolate and served with a huge spoon of clotted cream and a large coffee and well, it was nothing short of pure indulgence!
D: 2 flat iron steaks, a grilled tomato and a mushroom sauce made with garlic, mushrooms and double cream

The image makes them look very tempting and bread is something I really miss. Trouble is all the LC bread recipes we have tried have been hugely disappointing. Do like the picture though.
I agree. I am going to give them a try. Hopefully they might be good, warm, smothered in butter.

todays food 23-03
