What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Thanks very much for this recipe - I shall try it. Where do you get the polysorbate 20?

That online emporia of all things bonkers,............ eBay! I happen to use this supplier, although there are plenty of others who are likely just as reliable. The higher the number, the more emulsification will happen.

To be honest, our first many, many batches were without polysorbate. We just shook more the mix it up well, before spraying.

A late breakfast/early lunch- LC roll with blue cheese and cheddar, and yoghurt with raspberries
Later some nuts and cheese
Coffee with cream, tea with milk, and water.
Dinner - cauliflower rice with bolognaise sauce, plus oven roasted veg sprinkled with Parmesan.
And some red wine- strictly a medicinal dose.

Evenin’ All,

Today was

No B
L: 3 low carb sausages
S: profiteroles (last ones I think :meh: )
D: chicken thigh curry, with extra butter :D

My hands are covered in scratches, but bless her, she is learning fast. And she is quite respectful when the older dogs tick her off. But then she gets distracted and the energy brims over again...

Lunch yesterday: Toasted cheese and onion sandwiches.
Dinner: Seafood mariana and small portion of reheated pasta spirals.
Breakfast: Cheese and mushroom omelette, bacon, tomato.

Drinks: Black coffee no sugar / sweeteners, water.

What does it taste like? It looks so delicious, I miss my madeira cakes, and I can't bake!!!

Mostly tastes like a variety of pound cake. Needs more butter, but I'll address that later. It's in my CMT if you'd like to try it.

You aren't alone - I also feel and look like I'm having a prolonged hot flush when my BGs are higher than they should be and the higher they go the warmer the flush. I just assumed everyone got this.

Thanks for saying this, as I have been told by medical people I cannot possibly feel this.

I know this is right. We do feel this. Our bodies do give us warning signs.
>^..^<

Bfast 1/2 avocado, handful pecans, forgot the Crispie Thingie, DWGoatM, 1.65 sq 90% choc. That's a guesstimate.
Lunch a few large olives, few sips of kefir, and seems there was another bite in there but cannot remember
First supper spinach/hm dressing, last of the cream cheese maybe 1.5 oz, and a Crispiie Thingie just out of the microwave.
Second supper will be a square of my brown bread crumbled up with olive oil I think. Hoping that will be enough to stop any rampant snacking as was indulged last night.

@zauberflote please excuse my ignorance but what is, or where do I find, your CMT? The cake looks very tasty. I am not sure however that a pound cake would be a sensible thing to have in as I would eat it I am a sugar addict and if it is there I have to eat the lot but I do miss cake and the crunch of biscuits.

Morning all. Didn’t get to post yesterday. Busy day and evening meeting with my neighbours - management company for our block of flats.

Slightly off piste with Meaty May as allowed myself a square of a colleague’s 85% chocolate which resulted in a bit more at dinner....

Lunch - shared lunch at work as staff that work outside London were in town. Offered to help so I could supervise. Instead of sandwiches we bought a range of cold meats, fish, cheese, salad, butter and a few assorted carby things - bread, sausage rolls, grapes and a couple of M&S mini tubs of sweet things. Very interesting that all the real food disappeared first. I ate a couple of chicken drumsticks, a few slices of salami and some cheese with butter (made into a sandwich with the salami. Then 1 square 85% chocolate.

Dinner was grilled halloumi and 4 rashers streaky bacon followed by 2 squares Lindt 90% and then some cream whipped with cocoa on returning from my meeting.

Congratulations @ianpspurs Didn’t see the game, but my Gaygooners WhatsApp group was not amused! For my part I get to play on the Emirates pitch this lunchtime. Looking forward to that :)

I’ve just read an article from VeryWellHealth about the positive effects of apples for diabetes.
https://www.verywellhealth.com/eating-apples-for-diabetes-control-1087080
They conclude that although an apple has about 16 gms of carbs, the advantages outweigh that. I hope so- I really miss apples!
Read the article mostly in sadness as we are selling this property with 12 well established varieties of apple tree. Noticed it argued for a tennis ball sized apple - limits the varieties I know of somewhat.

Oh no! Didn’t know about them. I’m taking long sleeves and thick socks so all over protection ( which pretty much guarantees we’ll have a heatwave)

The midges in Scotland are nasty little things.Mainly in the highlands and always on nice calm days. I recommend a net and some Avon Skin so Soft - been using it for years.
If you want to be extra cautious then get some Smidge.

Oooooh,.................... You need the trade marked, patent pending F&M Anti-Mosi all natural (usually) potion.

In a 100ml spray bottle, c10ml citronella oil, c10ml tea tree oil, c10ml polysorbate 20 (optional emulsifier), and top up with water.

Shake well before use and spray on exposed areas.

If there's any broken skin, a small amount of Dettol or Savlon can be added to help the tea tree oil's antiseptic efforts.

In this hacienda, neither of us like non-natural things on our skin, and especially near our faces. Over time, in the heat, we found the foregoing works.

I react very extremely to mosi bites, so I am a bit neurotic about it all.

Have you tried this in Scotland? Does it work on the nasty wee black fly?
I get up into the highlands as often as possible and have been using Avon Skin So Soft (I carry it also in my motorcycle panniers when touring) - a working alternative would be good.

They're pretty tenacious on Lock Lomondside around sunset!

The Avon SSS stuff is odd. It makes me feel sick. Whatever it is in it that doesn't agree with me, as soon as I smell it, I start to feel realllly off.

Yes, it seems to work in most places. It has been on many, many golf courses and the like.

It's just gentle and nothing chemically - especially if you leave out the emulsifier and shake vigorously before spraying.

It has a mild aroma from the citronella oil, but it's not at all offensive.

Hi All,

Sorry to have to remind everyone, but could we get back on topic? i.e food and what we've eaten.

I do agree that mozzie defence is very important - esp in Scotland - but it might do better on another thread.
We can move the mozzie posts over, if that works for people.
