What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

NE1 1/2 avocado, pecans, crispieD, DWGoatM, NO chocolate. Testing theory.
NE1.5 DWH&H grocery shopping. Far too much H&H...
NE2 2 sq 90% choc and a fast 3 mile walk. Result positive for example 1 of theory testing: BG went down by .5 if I recall correctly.
NE3 a tad early and huge. Spinach/hm dressing/parm cheese, cheddar. More cheddar. Piece my hm brown bread, pecans. More pecans. A couple of ounces kefir. I was making the macaroni and cheese, one of my favorite comfort foods. Did not lick or scrape a single atom but sure breathed in the smells....
after putting away the leftovers many hrs later, I needed the usual few spoons of bedtime yogurt, and a little cream. So there.

have eye laser procedure/op tomorrow. So am tensed up over it.

Prepared some snacks to put in bag for tomorrow...cheese, boiled eggs, bacon bits.
And I put some glucose tablets in my bag. I have never had a hypo and can’t see that happening tomorrow, but just in case.

>^..^<

I'm praying and will be thinking of you! Can you take Hildegard? Maybe stream to processor during procedure?

@Chook LC helped my reflux so I could halve my med dose for a couple of months... until it didn't. Seems as bad or worse than before. Sigh.
@ianpspurs I'm very sorry about losing your dog. I know it has loved you faithfully, and you it. Saying goodbye is such a wrenching decision for me. The old girl's names are coming back! I know two baby Cora's!
@Bildad no more cats for me when these two go. Fostering kittens sure! (It's a thing! I know somebody who had 8 at one point).
@Goonergal oh nooooooo! I'm sorry, I laughed...
Y'all have to STOP talking about chocolate ok??? Kthxbai!

Speaking of chocolate! It seems I can have chocolate AS lunch so long as I walk long soon after. I think NGs are lower today than they might have been if I'd just skipped the chocolate altogether. This clearly requires further testing.

I have primary angle closure glaucoma, so laser treatment to reduce the pressure. The laser treatment is laser iridotomy. This means I will now have holes in my irises, to drain the pressure.

So fun and games tomorrow...

Thank you

I had to take Dad into the clinic for that. I hope it goes well gennepher, that it is super fast and amazingly successful for you! Fingers and toes all crossed.

@gennepher thinking of you and hoping that your eye proceedure has gone well - no doubt will be good once it is done and out of the way.
@ianpspurs so sorry to hear about your dog - truly a terrible thing to have to do and go through.
@Goonergal @zauberflote and @PenguinMum chocolate has to be managed but it is so so tempting!
@DJC3 well done on getting as far as you did on the fast - I really find fasting incredibly difficult these days and wouldn't contemplate it beyond my regular daily IF from 7pm ish ( earlier if can) to 10.00am - you've done amazingly well to mainly stick with these longer ones..
I'm upping my stress managment significantly this week to try and tackle the consequences of caring and one of my strategies is to stop doing social media after a certain time of day to help me calm and get ready for sleep so dont be suprised to see me doing my food entries more on the following day!
yesterday
breakfast - ended up not having lunch due to caring issues - two slices of crispy streaky bacon and one egg
Dinner - whilst cooking a few of my LC seeded crispbreads, nibble of cheese whilst cooking cauli cheese!, and a few nuts then proper planned meal - beef shin casserole served with asparagus, cauliflower cheese and glass red wine followed by SF jelly and yoghurt plus bit of cream.

Today so far:
Breakfast two slices of crispy streaky bacon and one egg
Going out this evening for a tapas evening so hoping that there will be things that fit my way of eating - will report back in a day or so. Meanwhile hope you all have a good weekend.

I think that’s a really good idea - to stop using devices in the evening. Its a habit we too easily slip into and I don’t think it does us any good. With all your responsibilities you really do need to make sure you are looking after yourself too.
I’m sure tha tapas place will have lots of lc options - just avoid the patatas bravas! Have a good time.

Thank you ..from you I now dont feel so alone in giving in to the chocolate. The only one for me is Lindt 90 though I quite like Montezuma Orange and Cacao Nib but thats it. I think if someone offered me Dairy Milk now (or any brand commercial milk choc)I would be unable to swallow it! Yuk.

@PenguinMum I haven’t dared to buy any chocolate yet. I’m not sure how strong willed or pathetically weak I might be.
Aside from eating low carb and watching my bg, I’m still trying to lose more weight. I’m down 6.6 kg since I started low carb, and was dieting a couple of weeks before that (but couldn’t bring myself to stand in the scales). So I think it’s about 8 kgs altogether. At least another 7 to go. I’m one clothes size down anyway.
I think chocolate would be the thin end of the wedge as far as self control goes. Still at least I know my weakness. I love ice cream too!

Phew... what a morning! Mr C went for a job interview which, if he's successful, will be 9-5 Mon-Fri and only 12 minutes drive from home!!!! He, being Mr Pessimism, is convinced he won't get it (thinks he's too old at 59) but I'm a glass half full kind of person so I've got my fingers crossed.

Then, while he was at his interview, my BIL phoned to say my MIL (who a couple of months ago was diagnosed with 'double dementia') has had a fall in the street while wearing her nightie and carrying her handbag. I don't know anything about 'double dementia' but it seems to be progressing very fast. Has anyone had any experience of a relative with it? Her GP isn't being very helpful.

Today's food...

NE 1: Usual 2 egg mayo on cricketers
NE 2: Nothing - just a cup of tea with skimmed milk
NE 3: Trout fillets, mangetout, sprouting broccoli
Followed by: Strawberries
Drinks: BDC, TWSM, SSW, CFDC, RW

I have decided having kefir, is like having a child (No, I'm not a parent).

I'm now in a position where I have lots of kefir and am attempting to cool and "suspend" the grains whilst I drink the makings.

I didn't particularly favour the cow's milk makings, but the coconut milk varient is very nice. I may stick with that for now.

On the plus side.... kefir doesn't talk back, have undesirable friends or cost you a small fortune in pocket money and stuff that they say all their friends have got (but haven't).

My father in law has it too @Chook. I'd never heard of it before. It's a combination of Alzheimer's and vascular dementia in his case. Hubby's sister arrived at his house to find him gone when she went to make him breakfast. He'd decided to go for a walk in monkey PJ's , a scarf, flat cap and slippers. He got tired and a white van man kindly stopped and asked if he was OK and he told him he was going home and got tired. He took him into the van not realising he thought the white van man said he'd take him for "a run". So while SIL was frantically looking for him he was off in the other direction with white van man inadvertently taking him further from home. When no one knew him he decided to take him to the police station where he was duely served cake and biscuits with tea and was having a grand time. SIL meantime reported him missing at another station. He remembered her name but unfortunately it was her maiden name. He couldn't remember his own address but could mostly remember hers. Eventually the police managed to match the details and she went to collect him. He had to go into full time care after that.
You're never quite sure how he'll be. Short term memory is poor , long term is fine to the extent he couldn't remember words in English but could talk , read and write in French! (He learned it during the war). He thinks my husband is his brother. Other times he can remember. He decided the other week it was maybe time to retire (he's 97 and thought he was 57). He's quite settled but you just have to take each day as it comes.

Hi Viv it sounds to me like you are doing really well great about going down a size too. Hopefully you will get to the maintenance stage where you will be able to have a couple of squares of high % chocolate without too much worry. I dont always stop at a couple though! ;)

It sounds like a sourdough starter. I used to feel awful throwing so much of it away.

Bed 5.5 FBG 6.6. I seem to have stabilised again. Not even much of a surge thankfully. @ianpspurs - was thinking about you today. Like @DCUKMod Hubby and I have only made that journey once and we both sat in tears in the car park after. Horrible thing to go through.
@BibaBee - hope things are OK with Mr B.
Usual school half day but boys decided they wanted to go to the park rather than Lego Club since it was nice again. So home for a quick lunch then walked to the park so they could run riot. Will need to update this later as we too are off out.
B. TAG with ADOC. 2 scrambled eggs
L. 2 slices of mortadella while feeding the nippers.
D. Don't know but since we're heading to the Argentinian steakhouse it will involve steak and wine.
Meantime I have another Dr Almond loaf in the oven but that is not going to the steakhouse.
