In search of some data really but IMHO very much tied up with this thread. How many of you good folk a) plan your menu each day and b) if you do is it based on carb count or using a tool/app to analyse vitamins, nutrients, cals in and out or c) just what you like to eat that is LC? Is there a poll tool on this forum as I would be very interested in this data. TIA and please feel free to ignore me.
a) In general I will start my day with weetybangs and almond milk, carby I know. whilst at work my lunch is always a green salad with ham or chicken and eggs and cheese in some form or another, I will also have some nuts or a packet of walkers French fries, I also do those eggy muffins in chorizo that @Bubbsie once put up here, and I will mess with the ingredients in those, and now and again a pepperami, and occasionally some fruit. If work is manic and very physical I have been known to have all of these.
Evening meals are pre planned and could be anything such as fish with salad and maybe a few oven baked chips or new pots, or gammon and eggs or something chickeny, I cook the odd curry and it is odd, with the cauli rice, or a chilli goes down well. I am a snacker, and the fridge door is the first thing to wear out in our kitchen, I love cheese, any cheese as long as it doesn't smell of goat.
b) No carb or calorie counting was or will be used by me, heaven forbid that my T2D gets so bad that I have to count and check everything that I eat, my heart goes out to those that have to do this it must be really difficult. At the moment I know what to avoid and what's ok, I miss some foods dearly such as pasta and rice and sugary foods but I now know how they spike me, so I settle for a spoonful of the wifes dessert and relish it, that is enough for me.
c)I guess that's what I do, just go for what I know to be LC and anything that's slightly carb ridden take a bite or two and then give it to the wife, maybe I should get a Labrador. On Friday I finished work at the new Amazon site on jctn 24 on the M1 and start a new site on Monday, so protocol dictated that all my workmates go for a big fat fry up, so there we were ordering breakfast with about 20 lads all wanting the mega breakfast and I chirped up to the chef du jour "could I have my breakfast a la carte" as I was going to ask for just bacon and eggs which wasn't on the list, now she was a large lady with a frying pan in each hand, a hair net, and a cigarette hanging from her lip with about half an inch of ash ready to drop into the eggs she was frying, "a la ****** carte, you'll have a mega or eff off". Needless to say I sat down with my mega breakfast and gave up my fried bread my two sawdust sausages and hash browns to eager colleagues, I did enjoy my buttery toast though, couldn't give that up, tinned tomatoes and beans on the same plate is somewhat sacrilegious in my book.
