Thanks for the offer of naproxen but we have plenty and plenty of tea to swill them down with. Great fbg today sir and take care in the dark and dangerous north beyond the edge of the known world
The fbg was purely due to taking a reading at the bottom of a trough before it turned upwards. It’s 6.5 now, my liver is having a whale of a time. I am quite sanguine with readings but perhaps that is because having a graph of the previous eight hours shows the bigger picture.
Glad you retain your sense of humour despite body pain and house moving pain.

Morning 5.4 for me but that was about an hour ago. Probably higher now. I too am up far to early - I woke needing the loo and tried to sneak out without waking Dennis but failed - now he is up so I am too.
Hugs to all the insomniacs and especially @gennepher - your awakening is the stuff of nightmares for me. ( however it’s obviously good for your fbg!) The thought of opening my eyes and seeing a spider directly above me actually prevents me shutting my eyes at times. I think you did remarkably well using the crutch to bung it out of the window - will you be able to walk ok to retrieve it?
@SaskiaKC oh no! that really has thrown a spanner in the works. Could you pay a small deposit and ask to reserve an apartment for 18m time? It would be awful to lose the place you’d set your heart on after all your research and planning.
@Viv19 are you still visiting your dad? Change of routine always plays havoc with my bg levels.

We’re off to visit a friend over the weekend. She’s lovely and we haven’t seen her for ages but I do remember how small her guest bed is. Possibly more sleepless nights. When we get home again, I usually greet my bed with a huge sigh of relief. My mattress is a wonderful combination of a firm base together with memory foam. Purrfect.
We’re then back to stay here until early Jul DJC3. I will have to concentrate on lowering my bg before then. Today I’ll eat an omelette with salad and cook a cottage pie for Dad and OH. And a longer walk if it isn’t too soggy. Think I’d better lose the alcohol too. :-/
When I don’t have the weekend breakfast with OH/Dad/at hotel, it usually works out that I’m fasting about 18 hours, eating within a 6 hr frame. It helped a lot when the Metformin played havoc with my digestion, and I’ve rather become used to it.

Well my morning fbg is still going down.
It is 8.3 this morning at 7am.

I tested it in the night as I was not sleeping properly, and it was 7.8, I think, at 1 am.

I actually find this scary it is going down so fast over the last few days.

I am strict with myself in that I have an eating window of 6 hours. So the rest of the time is a daily 18 hour fast so to speak.

I did try a 4 hour window some months ago, but it didn't appear to work so well. However, there are always a whole pile of other daily stuff which impacts on bg readings.

When I was awake last night making my cuppa tea, I realised I had forgotten to put the chocolate away back in its plastic box. The bare chocolate spoke to me, saying you're having a bad night, a piece of me will comfort you. But I looked at it and said, no way, my bg is 7.8, and if I have even a tiny little taste of you, that is going to spoil my next reading. So the chocolate gave a big sigh...and I went back to bed with just a cuppa tea...

Hugs over this.

There is never a right time for anything. And even if it is inconvenient/almost impossible, I always find the right time is now.

I hope you find a solution for this. There will be a solution somewhere, somehow.

Once when I sold my house, on the very day I put it up for sale, and the buyers wanted to move in very quickly. I said I was unable to sort and pack up in time. It was an old 13 roomed Edwardian house where I had brought up my children and so was absolutely filled with stuff. The buyers said you can leave everything behind if you want, we are happy to have it all. So I cleared out important personal stuff, loaded my car with 10 cats in baskets (I had 10 cats at the time), the dog, my paper 25mm photographs I had taken over the years, my favourite feather pillows, and personal paperwork and writing. And some clothes! And I handed over the keys and drove off into the sunset.

It was actually very therapeutic to do that. But I am a collector and hoarder, and I have collected and hoarded again....

I am sure when you wake up in the morning you will have some ideas.

Good luck x

>^..^<

Just a question to anyone on here...what would you take from your house/flat/where you live if you had to move quickly, and had to make a decision what to leave behind? What would you load your car or taxi with?

My bed, pillow (best ever!), Kindle.

Morning all from a wet Northeast (its more like the winter than summer) a score of 6 greeted me today, which I will take. Hospital appointment yesterday to see (pun intended) the eye specialist (again) as I have had a bit of a complication with my cataract surgery!! It seems like I will be having another operation on my eye, but I'm going to delay it as long as possible as I don't really fancy spending an hour with some one rummaging around in my eye whilst I'm awake!! Ah well it never rains sometimes it sodding pee's it down!!

Take care everyone.
Surely not an hour? My SIL delays any ops as long as she can. Not always a good idea. I’m the opposite- prefer to have it behind me, so there’s no horror to keep thinking about on the horizon. :))

Documents (of course), some clothes (not all), kitchen stuff (as many as possible - NOT fresh stuff), few of my treasured collectibles from my travels (paintings etc.), selection of books. Done!!

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen. Me and me's overslept this morning and with today being international bin day disaster.......

A humble 5.9 for me this morning. The surprising thing was this reading behaved itself unlike some of the other readings, one of which blew the fuse in the kettle.

Well folks whatever your plans are be nice to a stranger, make them smile and they will think you're nuts, but at least you can giggle.
@ianpspurs I played happy birthday for you this morning...twice because you are now old....( But younger than me ) . Just be grateful you didn't hear it.

Thank you for the music - sadly I don't feel Bjorn again. I am expecting a very lucrative sinecure at any moment, being male, pale and stale, as that is the identikit C21st qualification for aggrandisement and wrecking of lives. #entitled

Oh yes I know what you mean about getting back to your own bed - bliss!
I agree that an 18 hr fast usually works well for me too if I can manage it, but sometimes it’s just not feasible.
Hope you have a lovely time with your friend in spite of the bed.

Unfortunately yes, the consultant said anything up to an hour depending if the new lens has adhered to the capsule and proves problematic to remove/reposition. Apparently I can be under sedation for it this time, but I am still wary of another eye op after all the laser and both eyes having cataracts.

@ianpspurs Happy Birthday ( finally - you have been very evasive about the date) hope the thunderstorms keep away. Sorry to hear about the joint pains again but hope you can stay Naproxen free. Good luck to you and @PenguinMum for your viewings - it’s quite exhausting I found - trying to live properly in what needs to be a show home.
The developer who is after our house phoned today to say they have tweaked the design a bit to fit in with the conservation dept idea of what will fit into the style of this road. It hasn’t helped that the neighbours have got a petition up against it, but he’s still confident it’ll go through. Our local planning office is overwhelmed and ship a lot of applications out to a 3rd party who are based in Birmingham so have no local knowledge.
@johnpol so sorry to hear you need another eye op, no wonder you’re a bit apprehensive, makes me squirm to think about it but if it needs doing....
@dunelm great fbg - who cares how quickly you took it. On the subject of vegan sausage rolls ( tubes) I’ve let my youngest daughter know - she insists veganism is the way to go and said on our family WhatsApp group yesterday that she’d had one for lunch. She was a bit surprised at the number and speed of the comments - her dad and sisters were very scathing. I just told her to look at and count the list of ingredients. I’ve nothing against this way of eating at all, but have plenty against processed food of any description.

Thanks for the birthday wishes and good luck with the planners and sale. The processed food issue is interesting. Whilst there is a long list of ingredients in many processed foods there is no equivalent list of all the chemicals and antibiotics used in rearing animals or growing these whole foods - the air round here is often thick with sprays. The rate of resowing and harvesting salad crops I see is just not possible naturally Food production and animal husbandry now is nothing like it was when I was born. Even growing food from seed is problematic - modern seeds are obviously highly engineered.. Cut the girl some slack - this is a moat and beam argument.

good morning all :)

was 5.2 yesterday and 4.8 today

been outside this morning gathering up what we managed to mow down yesterday in the garden, the new strimmer with a brush cutter blade really moves heavy vegetation :)

Also yesterday I found an artists easel in the charity show and brought it home, pretty ambitious considering I haven't painted since I was about 20 :hilarious: There is a bit missing (from the easel not me ;)) but perhaps I can get a replacement.

@ianpspurs so the secret is out, Many Happy returns, long may you continue to bring us your take on life ;)

Hope your day treats you well :)

Thank you for your kind words. There is absolutely nothing missing from you especially since, from afar, you and Mr G seem to be wholly adept at perfecting each other. Excellent news about the brush cutter. My take on life is that I am on the side of the angles - the obtuse ones mainly

What a b... But go for it Johnpol! I have a theory that the younger you are with these procedures, the better it is. I had sedation for each cataract op - obviously it’s not something you would choose to do for fun of your free will but it’s best over with. Sometimes it’s possible to wait too long.
I suppose it all depends on whether you trust your surgeon. Mine is very grumpy but good, so if he says something then I believe him.

DJC3 I agree. Imitation food pretending to be something else can be full of unpleasant additives.
@ianpspurs that birthday sneaked under the radar. Hope it’s a good one.
