What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Lunch yesterday: Snags and resoles cooked over the coals in the firepit out at the block.
Dinner: Curried chook and veggies.
Breakfast: Usual omelette, bacon, tomatoes, reheated spudlite.

Drinks: Black coffee / tea no sugar / sweeteners, drunk a lot of water to keep me hydrated so I did not "do a perish".

Finished shifting the roo's to their new home, hope they like the place.

Oldest grandson ended up with five stiches in his arm when he dropped his guard when a roo woke up earlier and kicked out as he was untieing it's legs. He will not get caught out again, suprising how many of the ef word he come out with in a short space of time.

Breakfast: nut granola, 2 eggs scrambled with butter. Tea
Nibbled on cherries, tempting bowl left on the table. Lunch out, BG before a rather startling 6.5. Is this the cherries? Heat? Overflow from yesterday excesses?
Lunch New York chicken, comes in batter, with bacon and cheese, asked for large salad, small chips and only ate about six. no dessert, slimline tonic to drink.
BG later was 7.3 so not too big a spike.
More cherries, they really are irresistible, am hoping one at a time is not too much.
Late dinner, a sandwich. My mum cuts a single slice of bread in half through the width, turning it into two slices, 17g carbs. Had chicken and mayo. Salmon and mayo, both with lettuce and few chunks of tomato. Prossecco x3 and a slice of lemon tart. Again left the pastry.
Coffee with cream after, too hot for bedtime tea so glass of water instead.

@gennepher for some reason heat today made me hungrier too! Maybe it’s really thirst?
.
@shelley262 I did refill my one litre water bottle 3 times yesterday. And had loads cups tea in the evening. And bought two half litres water while I was out because I had drunk nearly all my litre water bottle.

I put a pinch of salt and a pinch of glucose in my water bottle because plain water makes me thirstier.

So had plenty fluids yesterday!

I love corned beef @ert
It’s been a staple since childhood!
@Viv19 suggests it’s different to what you are thinking of...
This is our corned beef..in a tin.

Or in a supermarket packet.

Wow. A heartfelt thanks. It's something I've missed since leaving Australia. My family cook it every week back home by simmering corned brisket, corned silverside or eye of silverside, (which I've found to buy here.)

Thanks for the reminder. Had forgotten about corned beef. Will be buying several tins now, to eat when I need more protein.
Timely reminder too, am in UK two more days - not sure if they have it in France, if they do, probably on the English food shelf at three times the price here.

I always have half a dozen tins in the cupboard @SlimLizzy
If you keep one in the fridge it is easier to slice.

So far 3 tablespoons of fat free yogart after morning meds.
Just ate 10 cooked prawns.

Off to shower and dress so lunch will be a few hours yet.
Kids all tonsillitis treated and bathed for our afternoon out.

Salad somewhere or ¼ of a grilled burger without bun may be suitable for my similiar small bites whilst out.

Once home cold drinks and a little yogart if peckish.

[QUOTE="DCUKMod, post: 2101606, member: For recipes requiring water in the inner pot (as opposed to fluid as a recipe ingredient), I usually use boiled water straight from the boiling kettle.

Why have I never thought of that? Brilliant![/QUOTE]

That was supposed to be in reply to @DCUKMod putting boiling water from the kettle into the IP!
Must have forgotten to touch the reply button.

Yet another catch up. Bed Monday 6.6 FBG 7. A pretty restless night with the heat. Left hip bruise is making it difficult to stay on my left side. Had the boys today too but the hot weather is making them just wanting to stay in the shade, drink water and watch a movie. Hubby going to football and we had a debate over whether the thunderstorm would materialise while there - it didn't.
B. TAG with ADOC. Then off to get boys to Lunch Club before getting them midday.
L. Baby bel and a slice of wafer thin ham.
D. After getting the boys home and with Hubby at football just wanted cold food do settled for burrata cheese, 2 mini roasted artichokes, pickled red pepper, 1/2 avocado, 4 piccolo tomatoes, spoonful prawn cocktail. 2 bits G&B dark raspberry and hazelnut.

@Annb & @Goonergal hope you are feeling better now (I'm still about 100 posts behind). @Viv19 - I'm not sure about Boris. Certainly didn't take Sturgeon long to come out with her broken record chant of neverendum. High time someone came after them on the disastrous mess they've made here. Ah well back to reading posts.

Thanks for your kind words @PenguinMum. I don't expect to be any kind of beauty - that expectation ended a good few years ago and I've always said I wasn't vain. Wrong - at 17 stone and 5 ft 5, I really am far from a thing of beauty and I find that it bothers me. However, apart from my actual looks, which won't improve (doctors said the scar would fade, but it didn't, just got worse) I can cope with that, it's the weight which does bother me. If I pass a mirror and happen to catch a glimpse of myself, I hate what I see. It really is gross. People (friends/family) will insist on taking photos of me as well, although I object :(. Then they go and show me the result, not realising that I am cringing :inpain:. Never mind - the real problem is that the weight is dangerous! I can only do what I can - medics don't seem to have any ideas either - just say I am over-eating. I suppose I am, food in + energy used = weight loss; food in + energy not used = weight put on. The best I can hope for is that, by eating the way I am, I won't get much heavier or more unfit than ever.:depressed:
I can so relate to where you are. After my crash I was largely immobile for 2 years post spinal surgery. My weight shot up and I was diagnosed with type 2. I avoided photos and insisted on being the one taking them. I'm probably about 1/2 inch shorter than you but I shot up to 18 sts. I found even with low carb I lose weight very slowly. I'll get a sudden burst then it stops again for months. Currently I'm at 14s7lbs - still a way to go and in yet another plateau phase. I'll have to change it up a bit again but not until after my break. The good thing is even if I'm not currently losing weight , I'm not gaining any either so what I've struggled to lose is staying off. Sometimes I feel like I'm going around in circles what with trying to keep the house in order and look after people (grandsons included) and try to fit in time for me. I think what I'm trying to say is stick at it. If one thing isn't working tweak it a bit. Not easy when we're time limited but you can get there and if it is slowly no matter. Any progress is good x

Wednesday now - bed 5.7 FBG 6.5. @DJC3 - I was going to say I liked the sound of your cloud eggs until you said they were disappointing. Also my eyes went wide when I read you'd had 1/2 a bar of Absolute Black until I noticed it was a 30g bar
@Goonergal - please take care. I am seriously neurotic about flu since my son's flu went into pneumonia and he ended up in ICU in a medically induced coma for 10 days. We still shudder every time he gets a cold.
The promised thunderstorms arrived about 3.30am. Very loud, forked lightning and torrential rain. It was after 5am before I got back to sleep. Still incredibly hot.
B. TAG with ADOC. No boys until the afternoon but just had a cold boiled egg since Hubby had boiled s batch of them yesterday and put them in the fridge.
L. Nothing - finally forced myself to iron the clothes to pack with every window wide open.
D. Still to hot to cook so repeated yesterdays dinner more or less - burrata, lettuce, santini tomatoes, 1/2 avocado, pickled red pepper.
SF jelly and raspberries.
Decided it was also time to write my list so I don't forget anything!

Afternoon all.

@maglil55 good to see you back and sorry your hip is still troubling you. I’m much better now thanks.

@DJC3 I also liked the sound of the cloud eggs until you commented that they weren’t great.

One of the good things about being off sick but starting to feel better is the ability to have a larger, more luxurious lunch than usual. Wondered why I was feeling so hungry around noon and then remembered that dinner yesterday was shortly before 4pm, so in effect a 20 hour fast. Just enjoyed a T-bone steak (on offer at the butcher) and a lazy mousse of whipped double cream with Lidl cocoa and erythritol and a blob of extra thick double cream. That might be it for the day now.
