Insulin sensitivity improvement

Feeling very chuffed today. Got the results of my second ever Insulin Resistance test and in 9 months while HBA1C has remained constant, there has been a significant improvement in insulin sensitivity, which gives me confidence that keto is helping to address the underlying cause of my type 2.

In November 2018, fasting insulin was 13.1 with insulin resistance 2.9.

Today fasting insulin is 5.5 and insulin resistance is 1.1.

The scale is below for reference.

1 = insulin sensitive

Above 1.9 = early insulin resistance

Above 2.9 = significant insulin resistance

I don’t believe that insulin resistance tests are available on the NHS. I have had both of mine done privately using medichecks, who provide an excellent service.

@JohnyT2 I have some loose skin, but nothing excessive so it’s mostly tightened up. I will be staying keto (indeed as Tophat says, carnivore or close to carnivore since January this year). I enjoy it and feel so much better on it there’s no reason to stop.

Wow fantastic results @Goonergal Congratulations. I just jumped over to Medichecks to look at those tests. They say they send a kit out for the sample, is it a fingerprick or a little more exciting? I never thought of getting tested privately as the GP tended to veer me away from further tests.

Thanks. The devices for finger pricking supplied by Medichecks look brutal. One or two members have struggled with them. As getting blood out of me is always problematic I’ve always opted to pay for their phlebotomy service.
