What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Passed some little food stalls in Shoreditch, one of which was selling pork. Wow, crispy pork loin, sliced and chopped up for me, sans the bread and salad also on offer. Really crispy skin which had been well salted and flavoured with garlic. Topped off with a fried duck’s egg. No picture as too busy scoffing! Now plotting how I can make sure I’m in the area at lunchtime more often.

Editing to add a link to an article about the stall:

The pix of the roast pork look good, the feller knows how to cook it fully, and not medium rare as some the local chefs cooks are doing here.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: gouda and chorizo rollitos with cauliflower and broccoli salad followed by Greek yoghurt, raspberries and macadamia and coconut keto granola.
Mid afternoon: birthday cake carb killa bar and black coffee.
Dinner: roast lamb and gravy with brocolli and French beans followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.

Ooh I really don’t fancy medium rare pork. Is it a new trendy cheffy thing?

Lunch yesterday: Yabbies from the dam out at the block, a bit of sugar bag which I should not have eaten, but it came from a new native bee hive so have to try it out.

Dinner: Beef curry and veggies.
Breakfast: Cheese and mushroom omelette, bacon, tomatoes, spudlite.

Drinks: Black coffee / tea no sugars, water.

B: CWC
L: Deli roast beef with h/m coleslaw Sf jelly and cream
D: Ham and cabbage soup made with yesterday’s leftovers. Few walnuts and some cheddar. 1 glass red.
@Brunneria those dogs are SO cute! I like the sound of tawny sloe port, is it home made? I think it’s meant to be a bumper year for sloes.
@Goonergal your lunchtime pork treat sounds brilliant. Wish I could say the same about lack of chocolate or pudding. Just realised I haven’t included the handful of Callebaut buttons or the 5 HC buttons I’ve eaten today!

Hello all,

Skipped a couple of days again. So will just report on today.

@DJC3 -- So sorry to read about your shoulder. Sounds painful. Are you feeling any better now?
@shelley262 -- Hope you enjoy vacation in Dubrovnik, happy it worked out in the end.
@Brunneria -- Vacation at the cottage sounds like a lot of fun, meals sound delicious.
@Goonergal -- The pork sounds to die for.
@PenguinMum -- Glad to see you back on the thread. Did you enjoy your vacation?

Today ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol. A small slice of egg liqueur cake (just one small slice left now).

Lunch: Low-carb pad thai with chicken and shrimps.

Dinner: A hamburger with cheddar, guacamole, mayonnaise, low-carb ketchup on two portobello mushrooms.

Some dry red wine and homemade low-carb bitter lemon throughout the day.

Much better now thanks.
Egg liqueur cake for breakfast! Goodness that’s impressive. Is it like a cheesecake and is it very boozy?

It's wonderful that you are feeling better, @DJC3. I do seem to remember you had shoulder problems once before? Is it a recurring thing?

Yes, I feel very privileged to have a cake for breakfast -- actually most of my breakfasts now look more like lunch and dinner. As to the booziness, no not very boozy at all, just a thin layer of egg liqueur on top. The base is primarily ground hazelnuts, dark chocolate and eggs, then covered in whipped cream and bit of egg liqueur on top.

Hi @ziggy_w thank you yes I enjoyed Spain very much. It was a meet up with family also. However the mosquitos bites affected my BG all week by 2 - 3 mmol which wasn't helpful. Lasy year, same week, same place, same food and no mozzies I was well in the zone.

It just happens when I spend too much time tapping on my phone - I don’t have a tablet or pc. I’m trying to limit my time now to stop it recurring.

Tea and then went out with No1 son who had a doctor's appointment at 9 am, then took me to the supermarket. Back about 11.30 to find that the lady who does my floors had been and gone and the floors were all wet! Too chilly here to dry very quickly so I had to keep my shoes on to avoid getting wet feet. No1 son is being called in to various doctors very frequently at present - twice or 3 times a week - for tests and consultations to try to sort out his ills - so far with some success but some side effects of treatment.

Tea when we came in, with most of the day's pills. Then some more.

Lunch was a smoked mackerel cocktail - like prawn cocktail but with pieces of smoked mackerel instead of prawns. My own Marie-Rose sauce - mayonnaise, tomato puree, double cream and a dash of Worcester sauce with a little salt. I used to love seafood as a child when my mother used to buy shrimps or cockles by the pint in Macfisheries. I also used to love the little dishes of cockles in vinegar that we were treated to at the seaside. But I haven't been able to put prawns or lobster into my mouth for years. I don't know why, except they remind me of insects. Anyway crustacea are off the menu for me. Smoked mackerel makes a very good substitute in a "not prawn" cocktail.

I was doing well and then Em came in from school and wanted to make pancakes and this time I didn't resist the temptation - mostly because Dad arrived earlier than expected when I still had some of the batter left, so I had to use it up, didn't I? I didn't even bother to check BG - it was already high before the pancakes, for some reason (Marie-Rose sauce is relatively high in calories, but not in carbs, and there wasn't much of it in my little dish). Anyway, fell off the wagon and will have to do better tomorrow.
I always put a little dash of brandy in my Marie Rose.

I am absolutely miles behind but I notice from the posts I've read so far I'm not the only one! Last post from me was a week yesterday when I was still battling with the Rug Doctor. Fortunately I still remember what I had.

Friday 20 Sept - bed 5.8 FBG 6.1. Very busy day as usual school half day. Got boys to school then straight to Physio which was good as my left knee was causing major problems which I put down to dragging the Rug Doctor and furniture about. I didn't know that stretching the thighs eased the knees. Made a big difference.
B. TAG with ADOC.
L. Nothing had all of about 30 mins before going to collect boys and feed them lunch.
D. A repeat of Thursday as I had leftover chilli which again I had with sour cream, guacamole, lettuce and I made more DD tacos. Oh and grated cheese.
DGF Millionaire shortbread later.

Saturday 21 September - A day of flaming disasters. Intended to get the other bedroom carpets done today. First though, son wanted to go pick up loads of cup cakes for No 1's birthday on Sunday. So it was going to be a drive into town then a first trip on the bypass to get back.
Bed 5.3 FBG 6.4.
B. TAG with ADOC
L. Nothing was out on this drive and once again the flaming car broke down! Same fault again. Managed to nurse it off the bypass and get it off road before the engine failed. I have the RAC on speed dial. Patrolman got there before the faults cleared and finally he thinks he knows the cause.
Had to arrange to get No 2 grandson and the cakes collected while son stayed with me.
D. A lot later was 2 slices mortadella, bit chicken and slice ox tongue. 1/2 avocado. Didn't feel much like eating.

Patrolman did an override on the faults and followed me home and reckoned it would work until Monday if I kept away from bypass/motorways as the car "thinks" it's overheating. Before I could eat I had to go sit with the boys as No 1 had hus BF staying and Mum wanted to get snacking food for them. Never did get the bedroom carpets done.

Before I vanished I wondered where you had got to. Glad to see you back x
