What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning All. @gennepher I am so sorry you are going through this terrible time with using your technology. I can only imagine the distress its causing you. It really is not acceptable from Apple. But please dont stay away for long, we will all miss your posts and photos and will miss you...please take great care and I hope you can get something sorted and come back to us.
@HarryBeau I am sorry yesterday was such a bad day and I can well understand. Hope being busy today helps. You take care.
5.9 for me today. Stay well, stay safe everyone.

A miserable 6.5 for me, no idea why. On the bright side I managed to put the clock on my cooker back an hour yesterday, just 4 days late but it is an achievement of sorts!
@SaskiaKC I believe the introductory info for new members is now contained in all the mods profiles. Tagging @Rachox as I think she has said that before. ( I can’t see it as I use the app)
@HarryBeau hope you have a better day today. Hugs.
@Debandez sock it to em ( of course you will)
@gennepher I was confused by the site disappearance too but its added a lot more stress to your life, I hope you can get your errant technology fixed soon, and don’t stay away too long.

Morning all from a cold and damp North, no battle with the meter of doom this morning, after all of the fighting we have been doing I think it needed a rest as it just gave up a 9 today. No struggle, no rolling around the kitchen, no dodging soft toys as it pitched them at me, it just presented its number and sat there quietly. I feel nervous, very nervous. Anyway hugs for those of you who need it, and well done for everyone who needs it.

take care everyone.

Fbg 6.7

I had no idea why I couldn't access this site for a couple of days. I got presented with a white page with the tiniest writing on the top saying 403 error and access denied because I was not authorised Etc.

I had no idea what happened. But I understand reading backwards they were doing something to this site. They knew in advance, yet nothing was on the site, no banner across the top before the site went down. I thought this was completely gone. Just wiped out.

I have enough of my own problems at the moment as regards the Cochlear Implant, the Apple update on my iPhone which completely messed all aspects of functionality with with Speech Processor, making the iPhone nothing more than a glorified bloated expensive coffee mat. It has caused the Speech Processor to malfunction.

I am not the only one. There are thousands of deaf hearing aid people and cochlear people and BaHa users across the globe who are victims to this update of Apple wrecking so much and causing all alerts to go right into our skulls frightening the living daylights out of us. There was no advance warning that this was going to happen. Prior to that all alerts were from the phone, not directly transmitted into our neural pathways at the loudness level of being stuck inside Big Ben as it is chiming midnight. This update has traumatised me as regards sounds and unexpected noises and aggravated my non-stop tinnitus making it worse because it has incorporated the in the skull loud noise alerts within it. And it has also done the same to countless others.

Apple still haven't sorted it, and as I don't have a working phone because of this I had to get another phone...an Android. So I am learning how to use that, and how to customise alerts so that I get no alerts apart from a vibration. I cannot deal with noise/sound alerts in any shape or form at the moment.

So, I will be absent for a bit now. I was upset when I couldn't access this site and got presented with a 403 error page for a couple of days.

Best wishes. Take care.

Big hug @gennepher - I do hope that this awful situation can be quickly resolved for you.

Morning each - first ground frost here looks scenic on my newly cut lawns. @gennepher hope your sitution is resolved speedily - you will be missed. @OldButBold winner for the 6 hrs gardening - just how big is that estate? @DJC3 that fbg is a gift from our old mate Mr Nolens Volens or the will of the people (which seems to be endlessly flexible) @PenguinMum I have passed the link for cheese scones recipe to my food fairy. She seems to like the idea much to my amazement. I have never eaten a cheese scone in my life and am no fan of almost all LC/keto baking - could be fun if asked my opinion. Fbg for me was 5,4 which in and of itself is so biege I can't tell you, darlings. Chink of light in the iron curtain which descended August 7th - 2 hrs cutting lawns yesterday then up and on exercise bike for 20 mins first thing this morning. Need to curb my instinct to rip the curtain too quickly but time for reading, thinking and praying needs backing up with action. In the tender compassion of our God the dawn from on high shall break upon us.

Good morning everyone from a, so far, quiet and hopeful day in the dark and dangerous north.

The wonder wheel confusion and misrepresentations had the audacity to issue a 5.5 this am.

Off to our little house on the prairie today, a contingent of grandchildren are due to arrive tomorrow so we have High Hopes for the weekend.

Have a great day if you can. As we are not leaving the EU just yet, your continental quilts will still work for a wee bit longer.

@OldButBold winner for the 6 hrs gardening - just how big is that estate?

Not that big, maybe 3/4 of an acre or so. I'm just finicky (and slow) so I started with turning the borders over and removing dead plants whilst also planting bulbs, winter pansies, etc. Some hedges were trying to beat the 'no grow' ban so they were trimmed and the paths were all cleared of pesky weedlings. The hanging baskets were changed to winter ones and then it was pick-ax time as I'm removing a dead tree stump or two.

5.4 at 8.15 and not moved a muscle. Still lying in bed!

Old school teachers funeral today. Lovely lady. Will be a great turnout to celebrate her life.

Then off down motorway again to liverpool. A low carb group. Sharing my journey and their low carb cakes they are baking for me I'm really looking forward to it.

Yesterdays event in warrington was quite an eye opener in a way. Here was the email that went out:

you had to choose to attend just one of our meetings this year, I would recommend this one! As requested by the group, this meeting is about making behaviour change effective. Join us, learn how you can change what you do, and help your family and patients to change.

Introduced and compered by our own Dr Joanne McCormack, a Portfolio GP who has been featured on Radio 4/ Evan Davis' "PM" News programme with her low-carb behaviour change groups in Warrington, we are delighted to welcome Dr David Unwin, NHS National GP Innovator or the Year, and Jen Unwin, Psychologist and Expert in Behaviour Change.
David and Jen are experts in behaviour change in a real life North of England GP setting. Using behaviour change methods to reverse the metabolic syndrome they have transformed patient care at Norwood surgery in Southport, improving a range of problems including T2DM (better control and remission), Hypertension, Obesity, NAFLD etc (and saving £37,000 annually in prescribing costs in the process).

We will also have Suzie Glaskie, a functional medicine certified health coach (formerly of the food industry - she knows what they do!) and two expert patients. Tref has lost 7.5 stone and is an expert on intermittent fasting. Deb has lost 4 stone and sent her Type 2 Diabetes into Remission with low carbohydrate behaviour change. Deb also recently appeared on ITV's This Morning Programme.

If ITV and Radio 4 are interested, there must be something in it. Come and hear why.

This meeting isn't about controlling chronic conditions by prescribing yet more pharmaceuticals from another new algorithm. This is about improving and resolving chronic conditions with simple low cost lifestyle measures, delivered by behaviour change. If we can understand the techniques of behaviour change, then we can practice real medicine that will effectively transform lives.

The meeting is on Wednesday October 30th at Spire. We will have delicious low carb food served at 6.30, and the meeting will start at 7pm as usual. This meeting will be pharma rep-free'

Excellent low carb food on offer.

The room was full of GPs. All listening intently. Firstly to Jen and David who make a great team. I love to hear what they have to say. About 50 mins. Then health coach suzie. 30 mins. Then Trev a gentleman (non diabetic) overweight all his life but took control. IF. Lchf. Lost 8 stone since January! Then Keith a 7 year dx diabetic. Lchf and well controlled. Did a sugar demo. Poured sugar equivalent to cereal into a tupperware. Then equivalent to sandwich. Then more for dinner. The container by the end of the day was full! I'm using that demo for sure! Then me talking about taking back control. My dx. Given DUK booklets. Page 19 'you can eat everything' rubbish. Told them why we cant. Held up blood glucose monitor. Gave libre demo. Showed some graphs of my readings. My next estimated a1c of 31. Etc etc etc. Q and A.

So the surprising bit (not so surprising really) was they didnt know how beneficial eating low carb was. How carbs turn to sugar. How even fruit isnt good.

Anyway as I finished I said 'I just want to ask you to give us the choice , dont just automatically offer medication, yes some will be happy with meds, they think they can take them and eat what they want, not true, but that's what they think. But others will want to know how to take control with diet, please please give us the choice'. I'd already told them I found the solution on Google!

3 drs came up at the end. One said 'you kept me very engaged throughout' the others said thank you so much. And dr unwin came over to say I'm a natural! I was nervous but my passion gets me through.

It feels like a drop in the ocean but a stone thrown causes ripples.

@poemagraphic for info.

Have a good day everyone. Catching up tomorrow.

Fantastic Deb. You really are a natural!

Frightening really. I have retired GP and nurse friends who had no idea about Carbs and Sugar, I have to say they are beginning to listen as they watch my journey. Sad though that it takes a transformation in weight loss to get them interested not the remission possibilities of Type 2. Keep up the good work.

An early good morning to you all and a 5.5 for me at 4 am.

A day with family for me off to meander around Trentham Gardens, hope the sunshine holds for another day.

Have a great day each and every one.
Have you been to the nearby Monkey Forest, Muddy Cyclist? Need a dry day though as no shelter on the way around. Enjoy! :)

@Debandez thanks for the report on how yesterday panned out. It sounds absolutely fantastic and such a spirit of hope for people who dont know how to help themselves. It is surprising that so many HCPs are not up to speed about carbs. The menu looked great too and illustrating that there are lots of options on LC. A really big WELL DONE to you Deb for using your time, energy and fabulousness to help spread that message of hope.
