Total agree I qualified as a private pilot when I was 40 but I have never wanted to jump out of a perfectly serviceable plane. In '96 I was flying with a friend from Caernarvon to Swansea when we had an engine failure on the edge of the Brecon beacons. I was as calm as anything, my brain went into overdrive and worked out our glide ratio and I flew the Cessna 152 like a glider into Swansea. I shan't tell you what my friend was doing, I think it involved confession :)

@ianpspurs thank you for the verses and the link. I'd been wondering what translation you were using. I have 2 KJVs in hard copy, and something like a Modern English Version on my Nook. Also the Psalters in two BCPs.

I'm glad to report the KittenCat is in rip-roaring form after yesterday's ordeal. Me, not so much. FBG 7.5 this morning. I am blaming the printer.

I grew up in the days of dogs running loose in the neighborhood unless the owners had a fenced yard, and even then the Collie-Border Collie mix who loved me would jump 3 fences to come to me. I guess we are all, humans and canines, better off with today's leash laws, but I wish dogs were free to roam as they used to be, to take a morning swim in the creek and chase things that are not cars or people on bicycles. I have had dogs who would follow me at heel without leash or collar -- they were neighborhood and campus dogs who just took to me.

Wow! I enjoyed reading that. Good for you for remaining calm and your brain working everything out!

Back in the mid-'70s I was in a skydiving club. I jumped a few times from a perfectly serviceable plane. ;)

Hugs. I am so sorry about your bad year. I recently found Mama's address book in her desk that I now have ... my cousin wanted contact info for one of our other cousins and I was glad our aunt's info was in Mama's address book. Lots of sadness and nostalgia and I wish the current generation sent cards and letters as our parents used to do. But I do enjoy keeping in touch with this cousin by text.

I know what you mean, SaskiaKC. I still send lots of cards but most of my communication is now via computer, especially with my family in USA. I love watching video clips of the children.:)

been out doing shopping and lunch ;) then tidying up and putting stuff away.

My brother, (who retired early from his job involving lots of foreign travel, then qualified as a driving instructor so he could spend more time at home and work part time :hilarious:), is taking part in this year's 'Big Learner Relay' Pudsey challenge, this involves getting sponsors for a driving lesson (sponsors get spots on the car), and the lesson is a leg of the relay, the proceeds of the lessons and the sponsorship money go to the BBC 'Children in Need' appeal. It's a nationwide relay/convoy which started on the 1st Nov at Lands End, going all the way up to John O'Groats via a west coastish route then back down the eastish coast route ending up this year on the 15th Nov. at the National Space Centre because it's 50 years this year since man landed on the moon.
My bro. is doing his leg of the lesson relay tomorrow in Lancashire but he's intending to join the convoy for a couple of days over the weekend up the bit to John O'Goats and will come and visit with us on the way past for the day before heading back :joyful:

That must be nice. :) I enjoy watching the videos one friend posts on FB. It's interesting to me that some of my friends who, like me, are of the letter-writing, card-mailing generation, no longer write letters or send cards. I must admit I happily go along with this for them because it saves me the cost of cards and postage, and I also enjoy sending animated e-cards with music, which paper cards just can't compare with!
I also love the fact that other friends still send paper cards, and I even have one friend with whom I correspond by real letters. There is nothing like getting a real greeting from a friend in the real mail.
 
@ianpspurs Thank you again for the link to the Church of England website. I enjoyed browsing the site earlier today, going from link to link, and e-mailing myself some of the links to go back and read further.
