What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning...a roast potato fuelled 6.4 greeted me this morning...we had roast chicken last night I was firmly convinced I could resist those gorgeous packets of soft fluffy goodness with their crisp golden jackets covered in garlic & rosemary...I was wrong & before anyone asks they were delicious...raining here...raining almost everywhere apparently a day for staying put...last night the first of the Christmas present wrapping for friends we're visiting Saturday we don't see them often so need to be ready...cheered as it's nearly Friday & more importantly that's BIN day.
Not too bad for roast potatoes. As we are getting towards roast potato season, you might try the retrograde starch thing: cook the day before, put in fridge over night, roast off the next day. See if your reading is lower.

The very same at least on linoleic acid = bad. I don't remember him mentioning omega 3 much or, indeed, how life expectancy and quality of life for people with chronic or incurable illness has changed. Did make me peddle faster though:)
I did some work on essential fatty acids several years ago. Seem to me that the the ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 is way out for most folk and may contribute to such things as fat retention, blood pressure and perhaps brain and central nervous system function (what we were looking at). My sort of take on this is perhaps stop using vegetable oils, eating junk food (to reduce omega 6 intake) and increase meat and fish (increase omega 3 intake). Lots of stuff on the interweb in amongst the pseudo-science-alternative-humbug stuff on essential fatty acid ratio.

Morning All. 5 is a popular one today, mine is 5.1.
Very bright start here unlike those of you further north so a good day for raking leaves. Meanwhile teax2 appropriate and toast. @gennepher I am full of admiration and not for the first time in how your are dealing with the cochlear implant problem. I do think Apple should step up and be way more helpful. @Krystyna23040 happy fbg we both seem to be back! @karen8967 hope 5 is ok for you, take care.
Have a great Thursday if you can. Stay well, stay safe.
hi @PenguinMum 5 is fine for me x

i will have to try this dunelm i never get my ratios right for potatoes so tend to avoid them ,but sometimes the urge wins ;)

Morning all, after emptying the bedroom furniture at 6am, the meter of doom triumphantly threw a 7.1 at me laughing in glee all the while! And to add insult to injury I have to put it all back in again tonight so we can go to sleep! All so the person fitting our new wardrobes has room, wouldn't have been that if I was putting them in "its all right you've got enough room, just work around the bed you'll be fine" is what the wife would have said, ********** I would have said (insert your own words in there) any way Bin day in the far North is a Tuesday, yes a Tuesday other days are available but ours is a Tuesday. Enjoy your Thursday everyone, I'm off for a lie down on the office floor!

Take care everyone.

That must be nice. :) I enjoy watching the videos one friend posts on FB. It's interesting to me that some of my friends who, like me, are of the letter-writing, card-mailing generation, no longer write letters or send cards. I must admit I happily go along with this for them because it saves me the cost of cards and postage, and I also enjoy sending animated e-cards with music, which paper cards just can't compare with!
I also love the fact that other friends still send paper cards, and I even have one friend with whom I correspond by real letters. There is nothing like getting a real greeting from a friend in the real mail.
Thanks for your interesting post, SaskiaKC. I have kept many of the letters received over the years and they make interesting reading. My cousin in the USA and I were pen friends as children and young adults. It was her Golden Anniversary last year. I found a letter she had written over 50 years ago telling me she had met this wonderful boy and hoped one day to marry him. I sent it back to her in her anniversary card and they both said it was the best present they'd had.:)

It does seem as though Apple did not consider cochlear implants when updating their systems. I truly hope that for the thousands of people using this system that they sort it out quickly, so far it seems as though they are stumped - will you be sticking to android in the future?

Apple have totally lost me through this @dunelm

The audiologist of yesterday agreed with me never to have my Processor turned on when using the iPhone, all it is any use for now is a glorified Kindle to read books at night when I don't have my Processor on. The intensity of these noise/sound alerts affected my 'hearing' and made my tinnitus worse. And true to her word she has organised an urgent appointment for me next week for remapping this processor. A text has just come through now for my appointment. Those hellish noise alerts inside my head affected my brain's perception of sound. And things sound wrong now.

Android has won me over immediately. I will be raving on all day about the virtues of Android if I start.

It is incredibly customisable for a cochlear implantee. I have installed the Cochlear app and paired what I need to pair. And much much more.

I will sing the Android's praises tomorrow morning when I post my fbg and with some amusing screenshots :)

But for now I am in my office, at table 13, which conveniently provides a wall socket and unlimited wifi...

Yes breakfast and unlimited coffee...

It is just one main meal for today. No other food now today.

Have a good day.
:)

the person fitting our new wardrobes has room
Wow you are a lucky person, our made to measure fitted wardrobes arrive late November and Mrs MC is risking letting me fit them, I'm hoping I measured it proper, also won't have much room cus no where to put all the stuff. The company making them assures me it's easy and there is lots of online help, so when I say pass me the screwdriver, hold that door, is it Level, help should be available, now lets see how does that work?

The mystery of blood sugar! Fbs high to start with came down to 5.5 (nothing to eat) just done now and 7! Still nothing to eat. My thoughts. Lunch with friend yesterday. Naked burger halloumi fries x 2 large but probably coated with flour. Coleslaw (small). For dinner continental with glass of red. But peckish later so strawberries and oppo with a dollop of thick cream. Too much ice cream as finishing the tub. Too late at night. But did a little filming yesterday (nothing to do with diabetes). Friend runs an attraction in Blackpool and invited me to be there for something special. I didnt know quite what so excitement put my bloods up yesterday. And obviously still impacting today.

Auntie coming from Dublin so.got to dash. Happy Thursday everyone.

'morning all. 6.7 fbs for me this morning. Off soon for mammogram appointment then straight to do our voluntary work. Talking of bins- opened the bedroom curtains yesterday to find a bright blue wheelie bin in front of the house. Mystified hubby went out to explore and found a note attached, which should have arrived days before, explaining it was for recycling plus complex instructions which bins would be collected on which days from now on. We have been recycling for years but have used my mum's bin as we didn't have one. Good timing as now mum's house has gone we were wondering how our recycled stuff was going to be collected. Have a good Thursday folks. :)

So, good news day continues. Android phone and cochlear implant working for @gennepher, nice blue bin for @dogslife, my dear wife became a pensioner yesterday and HMRC told us today they owed us the thick end of £3k - JIT for end of Chemo (last one next Monday) and holiday. O praise the name of the Lord. Psalm 148 seems rather apt.:):):)

Enjoy a peaceful (and tasty) day at the office. I would not be without my android phone.

I was going to fit them, but my wife can't deal with the amount of expletives that come out of me whilst I "just follow the instructions" so a one off payment of £150 for an expert to do it (or as my wife said "someone who knows what they are doing, not like...….." so I just have to put the room back tonight. all I can say is good luck, and enjoy.

What a wonderful present and story! :)

FBG 7.4 this morning after a night of weird and vivid dreams.

I had to take a brief break to toss treats: I'd caught the KittenCat looking up at the cactus window sill; she knows I don't like her jumping up there. ... Well, she didn't want the treats but has now jumped up onto the bed for her morning bath.

@Muddy Cyclist I have soprano and alto recorders; I'd be up for a rehearsal but I haven't touched my recorders in such a long time I doubt you'd want to try even a virtual rehearsal with me!

BTW I'll have you know that it is always panti season! :D

@gennepher welcome back to the thread. I have missed you. And welcome to the world of Android. I am still appalled at Apple's inaction and apparent apathy. Why is it that so often those most in need of a service are the ones left in need?

@HarryBeau I confess to being a partner in potato-eating last night. :shifty:

Good Afternoon all except etc, etc. A very busy day today and have got mine and my's grumpy head on for no justifiable reason.

A 6.8 this morning and a 6.0 just now..

National bin day was yesterday, therefore today is post bin day, when your council deem to collect your bin is of no consequence and as for when Phil the Greek and Lillibet's bin is collected again is of no consequence.

But and it's a big but if you are in possession of a quantum bin, it could be emptied any time any place any where. May the deity of bins help you. Muttering hymns and singing prayers etc do your bins have to be present?
Hand and foot note other deities are available from all good councils.
