Morning all. Another pleasing 5.3 here. Woken up to the sound of the sea, I could watch it all day. I tried to go for a walk along the cliff top and beach yesterday but the wind was so strong it nearly took my legs away from under me so I had to retire to the bar. Looking forward to slap up hotel breakfast soon, in the meantime there is a Nespresso machine in the room and a jug of fresh cream in the fridge which I requested on arrival.
@ianpspurs thank you so much for your good wishes, my scan is Thursday, we are driving up to London tomorrow though. ( ps love your 5 year plan)
@HarryBeau hope the clinic appt goes well today after a more controlled day yesterday.
@Auto E I I wonder if the people who didn’t achieve remission ( the 46%) were actually still following the program by the end or if they’d fallen off the wagon? I try to be optimistic and hope that’s the case and that those who stuck with it properly for the 5 years are those who did best.

Fortunately, I am my own little ray of sunshine :angelic:
And ours. Too early for a little Pilot? (maybe when all the new socks and shirts have run out for me but I sense 1 or 2 already feel this way) Have a great day Threadfather (just about to ask if I should kiss your ring before realising what @jjraak might make of that)

what do people do if low carb doesn't fix them? What is left to try? What is your 5 year plan, haha.
Just to add to the excellent posts from @Muddy Cyclist , @ianpspurs, @dunelm and @DJC3 - it's mentioned a lot in research the the longer we have T2D the less likely we will go into 'remission '.

Someone like me - who is likely to have had diabetes for 20 years before going low carb - is highly unlikely to achieve remission .

Luckily I did achieve remission and came off the insulin. I am under no illusion that it is going to be easy to maintain remission with such a damaged body.

On the plus side - my right foot that had been moving up towards high risk is now at low risk and will probably soon be at no risk. All the feeling has now come back in the foot.

So even if I do have to eventually go back on the insulin I will stay low carb which will mean that I will continue to enjoy having two feet - not like the unlucky 65 people a day on high carb who have a foot amputated.

I had been feeling that if I had to go back on meds I had failed, but @DJC3 pointed out to me that coming off insulin - even if it isn't forever - is still a success, as is keeping both feet.

Morning All. 5.9 still processing Sunday’s carb overload I imagine and woke from a nightmare, again! @DJC3 glad you are both having a relaxing time and we are all behind you for Thursday. @Auto E hug for the mad Endo, mad in my opinion because why wouldnt we want to use a tool to help keep our bg controlled. He may be a specialist but he must be a fan of the crystal ball saying you wont progress beyond preD. I hope you dont but you are right to want to look after your own health and not just rely on meds.. @HarryBeau good luck at the clinic today.
@ianpspurs moving post you have much to look forward to.
Have agreat Tuesday. Stay well, stay safe.

I had forgotten that song existed, and I understand why ;) I think @jjraak and I may well think alike on that one :)

Apparently should not abbreviate the year as it could be altered. Don't think that applies here.
My test strips arrived lunch time yesterday.
This morning FBG 5.4
Better than expected after a disturbed night and midnight (ok 3am) snack of cheese.
Dull and grey here but feeling optimistic as Andy the builder is back on site. HOORAY for Andy who works really well and we can see the difference each day.
MrSlim is putting in the windows, Andy plasterboarding and insulating the ceiling, we may have a reasonable working environment up there soon.
Me? I am going shopping.

good morning all :)

4.3 today

looking grey and there are wind warnings for our area today (the weather kind, not the too many sprouts kind ;)), but, it's fairly mind temperature wise so we're going out to walk, shop and have lunch later today :)

mr gee is still investigating the intermittent headlamp unit as inspiration occurs (or the internet provides), I'm informed that taking the whole unit out will be a long winded 'basket' of a job :sorry: so there are a couple more ideas to chase down first.

Hope your day treats you well :)

Sounds like an Alice Tinker or Letitia Cropley idea https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-51015435 :arghh:
Interesting. I think that these plant based meat alternatives use mainly soy so hopefully mainly protein. So, let’s save the planet by cutting out animal farming and animal flatulence and cover the planet in soy and increase human flatulence - hang on, where has all that natural fertilizer gone??

Hi @Krystyna23040 Well done on your personal T2D journey. How much did weight loss feature in your success?

My reading is up, I think, because I forgot to have my beef broth mid afternoon yesterday. Or it may be something else?

late in posting today (for me!)

Cat is very clingy at the mo. He is fine, eating well, still hunts (even though he is 27 years old) catching mice and eating them, but he seems to think I am his slave for his every whim. He even sits by the cat flap and looks at me silently with big wide eyes until I bend down and hold the cat flap open...Then to come back in he goes round the bungalow to see which room I am in, and sits outside beseeching me to open the window and let him him...then when he comes in he sits on my tablet or phone, whatever I am using...he has been known to use his paw pads to alter my message, or send an unfinished email...he even made a Skype video call on Sunday...which fortunately didn't get answered...

Up early as usual.
Done my daily painting challenge.
Acrylics. A3 sized.

I do like this one...very much. It might go on my bedroom wall. I do like painting in blues, and a limited palette. The whole thing was painted with the 3 different sized men's shaving brushes I have, and a thin rigger brush for the trunk and branches and moon. Stars were splattered on with a toothbrush. It was so relaxing to paint.

Back in bed with cat. I need a morning nap...

Have a good day.
Enjoy life.
Hugs if you need them.

It's really hard to know if it contributed at all. On diagnosis in 2012 I was 9st 6lbs with an hba1c of 125. In my GPs surgery my blood sugar just registered as Hi on his meter. At that weight I was super skinny - not a good look as at that weight I am just way too thin.

In remission I try to maintain between 9st 12lb to 9stone 13lb which takes me just out of just too thin.

In the 4 years on insulin my weight did go higher than that and on low carb I lost that weight and went into remission at a higher weight than when I was diagnosed with totally out of control diabetes. So quite confusing really.

Gorgeous picture again, never would have thought of painting with shaving brushes.
I’m enjoying the thought of your cat making a Skype call!

It is good with the large (ish) shaving brushes (as opposed to painting brushes) because I am not being fiddly with little brushes. And it works well on the large A3 paper.

Naughty cat...I need to keep an eye on him!

@gennepher another gorgeous painting loving the night sky above the trees.
Btw you have a very clever cat not just for his IT skills (cant believe I have just typed that lol) but he has worked out how to get you to do things for him that he should be able to do for himself. Like a naughty toddler asserting themselves I think you must be firm. He knows he is very loved. My previous Ginger would only drink water from the tap. The first time he showed interest I fell for it and it then became a habit he demanded ignoring his bowl! I had a hell of a job turning it around when he couldnt climb up in old age. I am more firm with these two except the chair scratching which I shout no but if I’m out....cats always rule.:cat:
