What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone from a very chilly dark and dangerous north

The new wonder wheel of crazed bedding in readings (according to the voice at the other end of the conversation when I rang Abbot) that required extra finger pricking finally settled down after around six hours and is now sailing gently along at 4.5 this a.m.

The scenery for this amazing new film is coming along: Oceans Quite A Lot break into a furniture store to comfortably lounge around a log fire, chatting about bins, painting, horses and anything else that comes to mind while feasting from a cornucopian menu staring bangers in pancakes. Funded by Samsung as everyone is using their new blood sugar monitor using what they call “Ramen Spectroscopy” which is non invasive but you have to like noodles.

The horizon is far today so trying to catch it will mean having to walk further. Still, an unsupervised day so probably head down to the veterans cafe in town to talk rubbish and drink builders tea.

Have a great day if you can, make sure you are all by the letterbox in case a script comes your way.

@Muddy Cyclist what a lovely, peaceful and tasteful environment to relax in after cycling, painting, gardening and music making. Thank you for posting and enjoy for many years to come. @Krystyna23040 I am glad the good control of yesterday hasn't resulted in higher BS today. @PenguinMum you weren't rambling just being friendly and sharing your own happy place. Pleased your fbg is where you want. My fbg is way out of the safety zone today but honest analysis is needed - no place for disappointment. The level is bad, it happens too often. Neither my body nor this WOE are perfect but just rolling over and letting those truths tickle my tummy is not who I am. Presenting my journey in a way that acknowledges that calmly whilst doing justice to God's love for me and everyone else, exactly where we are, is the real challenge. I don't meet that challenge often or well enough, sadly. Obs not well enough "rooted and grounded in love":bigtears:

Could I rent out your fall asleep chair and log stove on Sunday. Perfect for relaxing.
I'm sure we could reach a deal, I also have some ear plugs used for amplified gigs, not often these days though. However our TV does not do Sport Programs so come here and you won't need the ear plugs.

It sure is, only problem is on evenings it's far to easy to fall asleep in, fed, wine, warmth, comfy chair are all a disastrous combination and catalyst for snoozing. :hilarious:

for your disappointment. I know only too well how that starts your day with a frown.
Thanks PM I'm still experimenting so overall I'm expecting ups & downs so not disappointed...and how could I start my day with a frown with these two:)

Good morning/evening folks, a 5.5 on the dice after another failed toad in the hole, more like toad in the pancake.
Have a lovely day all, bin day here.

@trick60 Have tried various low carb pancake recipes, so far all are more like omelette.
@SaskiaKC really appreciate all the little emoji and amusing videos. Thanks for spending time to find them and even more for sharing the fun.
This morning 5.8 HOORAY. Had breakfast immediately.
Being back to normal(ish) non- routine has obviously helped.
Raining today so indoors work to start with. Kitchen preparation for decorating. All that filling and sanding yuk.

Morning… tired today want to stay in bed but too much to do...still experimenting with extra low carb and trying to eat just once/twice a day so far levels are higher...another couple of days then it's all change used to have better results when I ate more...woke to a 6.7
Soooo frustrating!

I have heard that there is a male version of Alexa about to be launched; it ignores everything you say.
Already got one of those. It's called a hubsta. Had it 33 years and has taught itself it 'switch off' when necessary. Funnily enough the word diabetes usually shuts it down completely ;-)

A little but it shows how we have to find what suits us best...bizarrely I did better when eating slightly more carbs & ate high protein bread...possibly I'd got used to that...it's all in a good cause though.

6.7 which wasn't unexpected. Did it again and 6.2. But it was a reflection of a hungry day yesterday and late night eating. I had mushroom omelette for breaky. Lunch was stilton mushrooms with my friend for lunch soon after! Left the garlic bread that accompanied but found it difficult. In fact broke up one of the 2 pieces to use half to dip up sauce but put it back down. Then later out with BIL to local pub for his birthday meal. I ordered chili con carne which came with rice and nachos. Eric ate the nachos (about 5) and I left most of the rice apart from 3 fork fulls. But there were beans in the chilli. Not the best choice but I fancied it. Home to lots of cheese, nuts and glass wine and later coffee and chocolate!

Today going to view a house. Looking for next project as current house sale almost at completion stage. Excited.

This morning will be paperwork. Then picking up granddaughter from nursery school and giving her some tea. As soon as she gets popped into her car seat she is zzzzzzzzzz. Long day for a 3 year old.

My aunties 80th today. She is a legend. Had 10 children. Put all through college and uni. After which she went back to study. Ended up with a masters degree. Strongest woman I know apart from my own dear mum RIP.

Look at me, smug as ......keeping up nicely :-)

Oh I’m so behind! Keep trying to catch up so I’m just going to post now and work backwards.
This morning brought forward a 4.9 Today will involve the gym, Asda and attempting not to ruin the brace of pheasants Mr C plucked and prepared yesterday.

this is hilarious debandez ive got one too only had mine for 25 years may need a newer model ;)

Yes, I have suspected this for ages also. The first chicken breast was huge and really thick and must have easily been 180g. The second was definitely smaller and thinner and I think I had about 75g.

I enjoyed the 75g of chicken a lot more as the ratio of cheese and bacon to chicken was much larger than the previous day - so the meal was much tastier. It was also good to see the doggies enjoying their chicken breakfast the next morning.

When I did domestic science at school in the early 70s we were told that to calculate the amount of meat needed for a recipe, to allow 4oz off the bone and 6oz if on the bone per person. This seems a very sensible amount still but I think these days portions have got bigger. The chicken breasts I get from the butcher are often around 200g each, like the ones you were served. Even in the eighties a quarter pounder burger was advertised as being a really big burger, now it’s normal. I will try to keep this and your testing in mind.

And yet the Big Mac now looks like wimpy's smallest pattie from back in the in the day

do agree the portions are larger now, all round.

when i started on this i was curios just what all those 30g of this or that ACTUALLY Looked like..so measure them on the kitchen scales..(bought for the T2D era )

SO shocked ../a bowl of cereal for me was TO THE TOP and don't spare the Krispies,
lashing of milk and a BIG spoon.
The bowl i prepared at 30g, was less then a small child's size handful of cereal and a splash of milk that barely covered the krispies
No wonder many of us kept getting fatter and fatter...:wideyed:
