Where did the weekend go? Very complex and busy few days as autistic eldest sons behaviour was a bit challenging but we managed eventually to have a bit of reasonable time together and he will hopefully improve now that what he perceives as a major mountain to climb - his birthday - has happened. Cooper - youngest sons dog - visiting us though most definitely helped to calm things with his calm friendly nature. He’s very sensitive and tries to comfort. @Chook thought about your dog and his role in picking things up - dogs are amazing. At least weather good - our eldest was born 44 years ago in Dundee in Scotland in the middle of a major snowstorm - remember it was difficult to get to ninewells hospital! In contrast we had a sunny mild day yesterday here in the midlands.
@Goonergal pleased to see you’ve had a good rest this weekend and your food looks amazing
Yesterday lots to do so limited food - picked at some cheeses, ham and salads and lots of coffee on the go!
Today lunch cheese, lc scone and smoked trout pate followed by hm keto lemon curd - small spoon of - mixed in fage yoghurt
Dinner steak, salad and halloumi fries with two glasses of red wine followed by lc brownie and cream
@DJC3 sorry to hear about your hc choc cream experience I only had single measures but didn’t have a spike at all when had it over Christmas shows it’s individual and the importance of testing....
.@maglil55 hope your sore legs improve sounds difficult and wishing you well with your ‘deep dive’ with DD! Sounds intriguing must have a dig on the dd site if get some time soon.
@Brunneria have a great birthday on the day - your celebratory meal sounds great
@ianpspurs pleased to hear about exchange of contract and hope it now all goes smoothly- quite a big change for you but exciting too
@PenguinMum enjoy your spatchcock chicken - one of my favourite things and did a fair bit last summer marinating it overnight must have another go soon......would imagine it would airfry well if not too big a bird!

The only white ones I have are 3 dessert plates and one large platter. The rest are mostly blue and white, antique style or actually antique or the Japanese ones, which are white with a black Japanese scene painted on them. They don't have many plain white in a reasonable quality in the 2nd hand shops.Quite agree - as long as they are all white no problem.
I have the same problem (what doesn't she have, I hear you ask). It affects both hands from time to time. Dr says it's probably carpal tunnel syndrome. It can be very annoying, but usually only happens when I am at rest. I still think it may be something to do with diabetes; or circulation. Happening right now, in fact, but only mildly so I can keep typing.
Breakfast today was bacon, egg and tomato with tea, of course.
Dinner was at 5 pm (gives me longer before the next meal tomorrow). It was spicy lamb with vegetables - cauliflower, onion and red, green and yellow peppers. Cooked it for about 3 hours to make the lamb shoulder tender. It looks like a lot on the plate, but it is only one of my smaller plates (used to be called a dessert plate) and I only had about two thirds of it - I was very full at that point.
I do have a dinner set with largish plates - we bought it in Japan along with a tea set, in 1965 (my goodness, that's about 54 years ago!) but it doesn't get used because everyone is afraid of damaging it. Waste of money that. I can't dispose of my mother's/grandmother's/mother-in-law's/grandmother-in-law's crockery either. Those plates are all pretty big. So I use an odd assortment of plates bought from charity shops - gives plenty of variety and I like old plates. Grandparents' dishes are all around 100 to 130 years old, can't use those, or, it seems my own ones.

We have an unbelievably delicate Chinese tea set my Grandfather acquired whilst in the army. Hopefully it will survive the move. White is my colour of choice for crockery (and walls - black leather sofas.)The only white ones I have are 3 dessert plates and one large platter. Julie can take it in hers but thanks. Mine will have all the important stuff . The medals letters and memorabilia of Ben P and my Grandfather plus my dad's my own and No 2 son's cricket trophies plus items of special significance to myself. The rest can be replaced.Take it in your car last time we moved I took the baby and the Waterford crystal.
Given his way, we'd have white. Period. Our bedding is all either white, with white, on white,
Anne,
My mom keeps the really old plates in a nice wooden plate-cabinet just for decoration . You can do the same. They are pretty. She has lots of those around the house.
If you really don’t want them, you could sell them online for a really good price. Many ppl like antiques. For example here :
https://www.sellingantiques.co.uk/antique-plates/
I have no idea about how good or reliable is this website ( I just searched quickly ) . Be careful about scams . You can search for them and find out what the price would be and then advertise them.
But I’m sure you kids and grandchildren would appreciate them . It’s a lot of history! I personally love these things because there is a lot one can learn from them .
Hello Everyone
Very interesting to read everyone's choices for china. We are just about to replace our elderly everyday china which has lots of chips and pieces missing and I think we'll replace it with plain white.
My hand is still painful and is getting worse. Archie (the dog) also has a poorly foot but we can't work out what it is. He went for a wander round the garden on his own and when he came in he was limping. We've got an appointment for him with the Vet tomorrow, no problem, then tried making an appointment for me at the doctors and was told the next appointment for my kind of health issue would be the end of the third week in February. Apparently patients are now sort of triaged when making appointments and there is an unofficial scale of appointment availability depending on immediacy of care needed. TBH, fair enough. If I had chest pains I wouldn't want to wait until the end of the third week in February before being seen. I just wish they'd hurry up and employ a few more doctors. When I became one of their patients 19 years ago they had six doctors and now they are down to two with an occasional locum.
If it carries on getting more painful I might go AWOL over the next few days but I will still be low carbing and reading this thread.
Anyway.....
Bed time last night: 6.1
FBG today: 7.8 (presumably because I spent a lot of last night trying to get comfortable enough to sleep)
Breakfast: Usual Alpro soya coconut yoghurt, 80g mixed berries, and 20g mixed nuts and seeds
2 hours later: 9.1 - no idea why this high as that breakfast usually doesn't have much affect
Lunch: Green gloop
Dinner: Yesterday's 5 minute dinner from Deliciously Ella was so nice that I'm repeating it again tonight - drain and rinse a tin of beans (I used cannellini) then heat in a pan with some EVOO. Stir in some pesto (yesterday's was h/m today I'm using good quality shop bought) then stir in a pack of fresh baby spinach. Scrunch in a bit of black pepper and a very good squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Keep turning it and when all the spinach is wilted its ready. VERY yum. This will definitely be a regular feature as a) its tasty and b) its SO quick!
