Comic timing...:hilarious:
He must have a reading problem with the teleprompter.

Slow it down, speed it up, gaps in words all help ...it is one way of making a bigger fool of him.

I may have misunderstood my doctor, but from memory, and does appear to verify In my on-line records, the shot I just got is a vaccine against 23 bacterial strains. Regardless, the pneumonia most common with COVID-19, is, obviously, viral and unrelated.

from everything I read on vaccines, if you have had influenza and/or pneumonia as usually would be indicated, getting them now can only help. You can get influenza, bacteria pneumonia and corona virus all at the same time.
No, you've not misheard. Pneumovax13 & Pneumovax23 are both vaccines for bacterial pneumococcal infection.
Pneumovax13 (used to be Prevenar) lasts for about 1 year - it is mostly given to young children.
Pneumovax23 lasts about 10 years - it is mostly given to adults, particularly those in certain health groups,, such as IPF, sarcoidosis, bronchiectasis.
Also, Pneumovax is used in immunology as a diagnostic tool (as opposed to a therapeutic tool.)

Watching the press conference right now. Unbelievable
yeah certainly a car crash...i kind of feeling 'dirty' watching it.

like i'm looking at TV show that's SO bad, it's kinda of unmissable, just for the Bloopers.
Dennis Norden could have made an entire series let alone a show out of this guy...

bet Biden is just rubbing his hands for his turn on that white house tiller,
they surely can't vote for trump again after this ???

if this wasn't just so CRITICAL..

Millions, people and money, will be hanging by the decisions he makes..:banghead:

not my choice of newspaper, but a withering blow by blow account of *** ..:woot:

and i agree with every single word..

Tragically, our glorious leader isn't doing any better, or any more for the people of the UK either.

To be fair at this point any and every action will attract condemnation from someone. Time will tell. In the meantime I am drastically increasing my social distance wherever possible whilst maintaining only the most necessary and most desirable interactions.

Our US president...I have no words...

https://www.yahoo.com/news/behind-trumps-coronavirus-shift-235000842.html

Monday...

WASHINGTON — As President Donald Trump jetted back to Washington on Monday after a weekend of golfing and fundraising in Florida, an intervention was awaiting him at the White House.

Administration officials, increasingly concerned about the messaging on and response to the coronavirus, had spent the weekend scrambling to craft a strategy to shift the president's response, which had been focused on downplaying the threat and accusing the media of creating undue concern, according to people involved in the effort.

So, as Trump stepped off Marine One and walked straight to the West Wing just after 3 p.m. Monday, his top economic and health officials were waiting to make their case for why a more serious fiscal and public health response was urgently needed. Those at the meeting included economic adviser Larry Kudlow, Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin.

Shortly after the meeting wrapped, Trump appeared ready to start taking a stronger approach — at least compared to the one he had offered that morning, when he likened the coronavirus to the seasonal flu, tweeting of the flu that "nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on."

Thursday...

Meanwhile, one of the nation's top health officials was telling lawmakers on Capitol Hill that the federal response was falling short on a key front, with the nation failing to meet the necessary capacity for coronavirus testing. That didn't keep Trump from heaping praise on his own response Thursday.

"Because of what I did and what the administration did with China, we have 32 deaths at this point. Other countries that are smaller countries have many, many deaths," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office during a meeting with the Irish prime minister.

"Thirty-two is a lot. Thirty-two is too many," he said. "But when you look at the kind of numbers that you're seeing coming out of other countries, it's pretty amazing when you think of it."

Did you see the press conference? His response to a reported who asked if he is going to get tested after coming in contact with the Brazilian official who tested positive? “ I guess there is a picture...I haven’t seen it...I hardly know the guy. I take *hundreds* (my emphasis added) of these photos a day. I hardly know him.”

Hardly knew him you say? Well then, whew, you’re safe! Let’s hope you also hardly know any of the hundreds of other you take photos with each day, because that’s some gold standard protection against virus right there.

also, no red wine boxes left?!? Well, it just got serious.

but this IS Alec Baldwin..Right :bag:

he is VERY good btw.

jjraak, I can only speak to what's happening in Washington State. Now that a national emergency has been declared by the president, funding will become available. More will be possible.

From where I sit, it looks to me like the states are really stepping up their game, thankfully. I did the math the other day. A third of all who tested positive for COVID-19 in the US are in western Washington state. Our son and his family live in Seattle. Not sure what they're going to do. Possibly send the kids east or north to be cared for by grandparent. It's surreal. Trying to keep myself focused on what I need to do. :)

I will be self isolating now. I am a carer and need to protect them, as well as myself. I got shopping easily today, got my meds topped up by GP too. Thank goodness for online community over the coming weeks.

I will be starting a thread shortly about my diagnosis today of scarring on my liver. I am being referred to a specialist, and there appears to be no treatment. The scarring is irreversible.

Had the long lasting Pneumovax because I had Pneumococcal septiceamia and meningitus type rash all over my body in 1997.
Had very high temperature for weeks and ill for three months.

I hear that the liver regenerates better than most organs. I wonder how that works with scarring? D.

I don't know. We had done the weekly shop yesterday. The shop was nearly empty of people. I live near a very small town. I will have to come up with an action plan this week. I didn't expect this so soon.

Very true. I do wonder if the high death rate in Italy (which they are attributing to a high population of older people) is because they ran out of hospital beds for all who needed rhem. It would be interesting to know the split of dying at home and in hospital. That scenario is possible in any country. Bwe should be learning lessons of how it got out of control so fast in Italy but not how they handled it.
The other thing to take into account in Italy is the country is very family orientated. As you may recall my late sister was married to an Italian and we spent a lot of time there. They have frequent and large family gatherings and really take care of their elderly parents/grandparents. However, in this situation this wonderful caring is the very thing that is probably spreading Covid19 so quickly. I've been to many of these gatherings and there are multiple generations in attendance.
