Latest UK announcement

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-51903319

Basically
  • Stop attending all public gatherings, pubs, clubs, etc.etc.
  • Stop all non-essential travel
  • Work from home from now on if at all possible
  • Keep safe social distances
  • If anyone in household has the 2 main C-19 symptoms of fever and new sustained coughing, then stay home for 2 weeks.
  • Asymptomatic ppl allowed out for exercise (a nation of dogs says thank you), but only go out for supplies if you cannot find anyone who can do it for you.
But send your kids to mass gathering social spaces at school so they can all bring it home and continue the spread !!!!

I work in a secondary school and also have another autoimmune condition. A pregnant colleague has had a call tonight to stay home. Where do I stand to pursue my case?

you could call 111, describe appropriate symptoms, truthfully tell work you've been advised to self isolate for 7 days
you won't be the only one taking time off, most won't even call 111.
no ones going to be able to check, so maybe skip the 111 call and be a good citizen..:)

By the next week the decisions will all be made to shut anyway, most likely.
this is all moving so fast.

staff lives matter , to co-opt a particular line.

or just wait to be told.

44 pages in and I can’t find it now. I’ve seen something somewhere. Talked about inflammation, heme carrying capacity of iron in blood amongst other things.

Is there anything scientific/medical that describes why diabetes is a risk. Specifically what mechanisms etc.

Now that's a thought. I had emailed the head asking him to remember my conditions, all in a respectful way. No answer.

If the person doesn't have doesn't have symptoms, then, they are acting fraudulently. I'm afraid that's not the best idea.

How you deal with this tomorrow can only be your call. I think much will be clarified in the coming days, however, please think very carefully before lying to the NHS or your employer.

Just hope that the NHS are aware of this and don't go giving critical care folks NSAIDs which would basically kill them.

Surely now as a another vulnerable person you should be severely limiting your social contact, that includes work for you as well as your colleague perhaps as you fall in the same category

This to ME seems like a moment of crisis.
where the Govt is giving good sound advice.
the employer HAS a duty of care to YOU the employee.

Not an employment lawyer, just a belligerent B sometimes
if your asking expect the waffle of "mmh could.. but tracy being off", ...blah, blah

Plan B if you do still go in.
cough..cough LONG cough hard..and do it often.

first break you either have a no pupils in your class, so pretty safe for that class at least,
or the head and other teachers rush out the door, to self isolate.

i do say with tongue slightly in cheeek.

But question ...are YOU at risk,
what IF you get it ...could you DIE.
would you be replaced at work in a heart beat.

Survive this IS your Primary Goal.

forget all the IJF..."it's just Flu" talk

all these countries hit and shut down, have had flu for ages,
never once shut down..
THIS... is more.....WAY more

I suppose IF
someone was trying to kill me or let me be killed .
i'd fight very very dirty.....

like i say, next week probably all shut down anyways.

Slightly off topic, since this CV19 has been causing problems in the UK, my small UK pension has increased to nearly pre brexit days.

Today's rate is $1.00 = £00.50 according to XE Currency app.

https://www.itv.com/news/2020-03-16/coronavirus-who-should-stay-home-and-for-how-long/

Still a little vague on who is classed as 'vulnerable' unless you are over 70.
Joan Bakewell on BBC2 Newsnight tonight, thinks the messages should be given with more force regarding what you should do and not just 'advised' to do, so more enforcement in the messages.

mmh i get the flu as per offer every year. (asthmatic)
do feel and believe my symptoms are very diminished since going LCHF

feel fit, feel healthy, BUT i do get that i could Clog up a much needed bed by being a 'i'm too tough to die. richardhead"

a simple reaction to any virus could possibly close up my airways
and increase the distress of struggling to breathe even though right now i feel great.
but it isn't clear as you say..but i do get the reason for the message.
maybe i would be better self isolating early..decisions of Solomon sometimes..

I too would like some clarity, T2 and fit and healthy at the moment after a burnout before Xmas, I am at the moment fulfilling the rolls of caretaker, site manager and facility manager at a 1200 pupil school, as the rest are off long term sick.

So jonny on the spot, if I go off nobody to open and close the school, only one other person can work the alarm and fire systems.

My health comes first but I would not feel right self isolating of my own bat as it were..

Good morning, so pleased to read you are home so quickly after being treated for pneumonia, a scary time at the moment.
Stay safe and I wish you a healthy and a speedy recovery.
Take care
Not me, I just shared a lady's experience with the virus
