Discussion on tracking people using their phones.
An excellent and pertinent science documentary is the BBC 4 Contagion.
It shows exactly how cellphones can be used to track people - not only that but see how long and who you were close to others.
It is available on IPlayer.

That used an app but apps can be easily downloaded.
It’s prime purpose was for contact tracing.
It would be very easy to require anyone out for a walk to have a working cell with the app to be legal and escape fine.

Would it?
In my extended family there are 4 (out of 9 ppl over 50 years old) who have been given mobile phones, don't use them, don't know HOW to use them, and wouldn't know what an App was if it bit them on the backside.

I don’t think this is a good time (if there is ever a good time) to be using NHS resources if you are asymptomatic. The service is already creaking at the seams.

@4mum_ A reasonable employer - especially after yesterday’s announcements - should be willing to take account of the concerns and personal circumstances of staff. It is never a good move to raise any questions in an employer’s mind as to your integrity.

Edited to correct typo.
I made my own decision in the end, no calling NHS or lying, neither are my style. E.g., when diagnosed less than 3 years ago at the ripe age of 55, I walked to the hospital, to arrive and be put in a and e majors, shock the medics and consultants with that very fact, as I had DKA and a week in hospital.

A Louisiana pastor is apparently defying the governor's order against gatherings of more than 50 people by hosting over 1,000 churchgoers at a service Sunday and bringing together hundreds at another service Tuesday, according to the pastor and local media.

The pastor, Rev. Tony Spell of Life Tabernacle Church in Baton Rouge, said he does not believe his congregation is at risk of getting COVID-19, the disease associated with the coronavirus, according to CBS affiliate WAFB.

"It's not a concern," Spell told the outlet. "The virus, we believe, is politically motivated. We hold our religious rights dear and we are going to assemble no matter what someone says."

Spell said 1,170 attended his service Sunday, according to WAFB.

"We have 27 buses on Sundays picking up people in a five-parish area," he said.
Greedy pastor, stupid congregation? This is potentially a "super spreader".

"Following additional guidance from the CDC, gatherings of more than 50 people are no longer permitted," Gov. Edwards said in his March 16 announcement. "These limitations were difficult to make, but they are necessary to slow the spread of COVID-19, protect the health of Louisianans and flatten the curve."

Edwards went further on Sunday, issuing a stay-at-home order for the state.

He said Tuesday that his state has more coronaviruses per capita than any others except New York and Washington, and he requested that the federal government declare Louisiana a major disaster.

More than 1,300 cases of the coronavirus had been reported in Louisiana as of noon Wednesday and at least 46 deaths.

Has anyone received the letter that was sent out yesterday?...

I have not received the letter but I did have a review with the diabetic specialist nurse at our doctors over the telephone yesterday and I asked about this. The 1.5 million "very high risk" group is mainly made of people who have a suppressed immune system due either to immunosuppressant drugs, for example after organ transplant, or chemotherapy etc. People with diabetes can make it onto that list if their diabetes is out of control but people whose diabetes is well controlled are not on the list.

What I am not so sure of is whether there are two risk categories or three. In other words are people with well controlled diabetes at elevated risk compared to the general population, just not high enough for that list? Or did the original advice for vulnerable people include diabetes on the list of condition to make sure those who diabetes was out of control took notice and now those people have been written to individually the rest of us can relax a little bit?

Since I’ve been looking at official .gov advice for the last couple of weeks there’s been 3 groups. Most of the population, those who need to follow the social distancing guidance advice “stringently” and those extremely vulnerable now being written to

I have lost track of people saying God will protect them, and precautions show a lack of faith.

I hope he, and others like him, get jailed.

This is not an anti-religious post, it's an anti-stupid post. Most people of faith seem to be supporting government guidelines.

Jim, thanks for your question. And thank you Brunneria and others here for sharing what you've learned and are learning about vitamin C.

Like Brunneria, I also prefer taking a whole vitamin C. The vitamin C supplement I take is made from whole foods, sourced from berries and other plant based sources from around the world. But here's the problem...one capsule of my vitamin C only provides 120 mg.

When our body is being attacked by a virus, such as a cold, our body's need for vitamin C increases significantly.

Dr. Cheng is currently taking 5 to 10 g of ascorbic acid a day by mixing in a glass - (not metal or plastic) - container smaller amounts of the powder in his cool or room temperature water, not hot, and sipping on it throughout the day. I assume he's taking a higher amount because he is living and working in China right now.

In contrast, I'm currently only taking 2 g a day because I am currently working in a back office setting daily.

He describes how he takes his ascorbic acid in another video. Every two to three hours he mixes ascorbic acid into a glass of 8 to 16 ounces of water and sips it, which probably varies from 1 to 2 g (or 3 g) based on demands on his time. If he becomes ill, he will increase that amount.

Just as a quick aside, my understanding is that vitamin C administered by IV is in and out of the body within hours, perhaps 6 hours of completing the infusion, not sure of that, so that's why it's important to take in smaller dosages throughout the day.

For a person how is ill, who needs to ramp up their dosage and is is awake for 15 hours. At hour 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15, if 3 g is administered every 3 hours, that would total to 18 g a day. Or if awake 16 hours, at hour 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16, if 2 g is administered every 2 hours, that would also total to 18 g a day.

I'll try to write more about this over the weekend. Have to go to work now.

For now, there are two videos by American internist and nephrologist Suzanne Humphries, MD that offers a good overview of what's known about the therapeutic use of vitamin C...

Another source of information is Thomas E. Levy, MD. He has written extensively on Vitamin C. Here's his bio...

https://riordanclinic.org/staff/thomas-levy-md-jd/

And here's what The Riordan Clinic is recommending to their patients specifically for CORVID-19...

https://riordanclinic.org/2020/03/covid-19/

Other sources are Andrew Saul, an Editor-In-Chief for www.orthomolecular.org who has studied and used vitamin C throughout his life. Here's just one article from that website on vitamin C...

Vitamin C Questions: Answered
http://www.orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/v14n12.shtml

The point about through-put is that Vit C is water-soluble. So it gets excreted quite quickly.

I can't remember if I've posted this yet...

A few days ago, I came across this video by Thomas DeLaurer. In it he explains how the four nutrients work synergistically to strengthen the immune system ability to fight infection. This is what my husband and I are doing...
We Need MORE Than Vitamin C - MAGNESIUM, Vitamin D and ZINC - Live Discussion

Did you know that vitamin C and magnesium is needed to use the vitamin D3 you're supplementing with daily? I didn't. Some D3 is being activated by the vitamin C and magnesium we get from the foods we're eating of course, but how much? In this video, he also discusses the study that showed this synergistic relationship between vitamins C and D3. He also discusses the role vitamin A (from cod liver oil), B vitamins, vitamin K2, magnesium, zinc, and copper play. One way to address this need is to take a good quality multivitamin and mineral supplement with the addition of some of these nutrients.

Okay, yesterday and today, Dr. Oz reported on the two drugs the french doctor has been studying and using to treat COVID-19 patients. These drugs are now beginning to be studied and used on a limited basis in some areas in the US. Most important message here is to not hoard these medications. They need to be reserved for those who need them now, for patients with COVID-19, Lupus, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Efforts are being made now to ramp up production here...

The pastor sounds rather cultish to me, one of these so called messiah's, with the meek and the mild as followers.
He should be brought to justice, the man is a disgrace !!

Faith is all well and good. But I don't believe faith will cover negligence. I tend to agree this is cultish behaviour. A cult arises when parts of The Bible are favoured over others. There's wisdom and kindness needed too, amongst other things. I am sure God doesn't want him to sacrifice his congregation to a virus.

Interview on Radio 4 bbc this am disturbing with government guy.
Doesnt look like the promise of extra ventilators is going to be produced quick enough? It looks like we will miss out on the European initiative as well, which is not surprising.
Sad the guy could not really answer any question in a straight way.

Yes more government ineptitude. They refuse to join in an EU procurement process when invited to do so and then try to pass it off as a mistake.
