Good morning everyone from another day of promised sunshine and blossom here in the dark and dangerous north
the wonder wheel of leftover salad bits and a slice of home made low carb bread came in at 5.1 this am

Returned home yesterday afternoon from our few days over at the little house on the prairie. It got quite chilly when clouds obscured the sun. Mr Greattit is doing his rounds of all things glazing at present - over to the summer house - tap tap, then to the kitchen window - tap, tap now the French doors -tap, tap, back to the summer house - and on and no.....

Art today - nesting birds. Have a great Monday if you can, give the day another name if it’s not working out. Koffy time.

Hope the badger gets fed up with partying in your garden very soon and perhaps moves into your neighbours garden (the one with the intrusive Christmas lights).
So do I @Krystyna23040
But horrid neighbour and sour faced wife have the most uninteresting paved garden all through front and back. Nothing for badger there...but would a few apples mysteriously appearing entice the badger?
I would need my all black outfit on...

Cat went doolally last night, hence another sleepless night and banging head.
I am trying to sleep and he is back combing my hair into a bird's nest...
No amount of removal from my head could stop him, he was stronger than I was...even tried shutting him in another room but he got out before I did...gave up...went back to bed. About half an hour later I wake up to a fox (cat) fur stole round my neck. I could not find the beginning, nor the end.

Then I looked out in the garden. It was lit up magically like almost daylight with silver slivers down all the trees. It was like fairyland. I got up, managed to get the fur stole off my neck, and put the blanket over him so I could make my escape to the kitchen...

Made a cuppa and went into the front garden, forgot I had minimum clothes on (but I was covered), because I was trying to get away from the alive fur stole.

That was when I saw what looked a a pretty near full moon. So, I sat on John's and Meg's bench with cuppa and watched the beautiful moon. I just hope no cctv cameras were looking at me...

It wasn't me crazy in the full moon...

Came back in. Another cuppa. Got back in bed. Not sleepy at all now, and it has barely gone midnight. So got iPad to do today's digital painting. The fur stole emerges from under the blanket and sits looking at me.So portrait of Popeye this morning. He was very good and modelled beautifully.

So, tried for sleep again. But cat had other ideas. I gave up.

I watched the most stunning pre dawn sky, but dawn and sunrise were pathetic. It is now a beautiful stunning day outside albeit 1 C.

Decided this cat must be affected by the full moon. He is climbing where he shouldn't. He had a go at climbing the curtains this morning (used to be his favourite occupation). He climbs half way, stops, looks at me as if to say 'See,I can still do this'. I rescued some ornaments....

Another two nights of all this I think...

I hope he doesn't go into werewolf mode tonight...I might lock myself in the potting shed...

So here is the digital painting of an innocent elderly cat. His girlfriend visited twice yesterday....

And this walking zombie is now going into the back garden and see what chaos the badger caused in the early hours. It looks like my parasol was involved. It is on its side, and the fabric a bit shredded...
Such an interesting night - you must be exhausted. Funny that pre-dawn can hold such promise and yet that anticipated moment can turn into a damp squib. Never mind - Popeye sat well and you captured a great expression of, “it wasn’t me, no-one saw me - you can’t prove it” and the whirring cogs of background planning.

These cranes/storks are absolutely wonderful @dunelm
You do seem to resonate with birds. I know you said your mum says you need another 10 years practice at painting, but to me they are excellent enough to make a picture book from them now. What do you call that, a coffee table book? There is character, there is observation in these birds and so much more. I could just sit and turn the pages over (again and again) and enjoy your observations of them.

Thank you :)
I am yawning my head off here @dunelm
But as you say, it was an interesting inspirational night. It was totally magical, outside...
I think a lot of black coffee today. I am not wasting the day sleeping...

Good Morning and 6 for me today. Yesterday Cheese Salad for lunch, Salmon Salad for dinner with Greek yogurt and raspberries sowhy so high?

Mrs MC had no reaction to second jab so a huge relief, all those buckets, water bottles, extra blankets and ice packs at the ready by side of the bed where not needed. :)

Muddy Cycle ride and then garden today.

I am falling behind on posts and artwork because of this good weather, will make an effort today.

Keep safe be bold.

So just another manic Monday for some but a Two Tone Trevira suit, no Crombie, day here. (Yes I went there back in the day) How so I hear no one ask except the crazy guy lodging in me 'ead. 5.2 via Swipey doesn't presage major complication this very hour. I still think it is 1 too high. Ribeye steak (cooked exactly as I like i.e vaguely shown heat) and Malbec were a combination I liked but truthfully salmon and avo salad are diffwent gwavy. Eating at 6.00 pm isn't wrong per se but way too late for me. Having the same meal at the same time, Julie's choice, is morally spot on. The outcome on Swipey is definitely not what I want. Scales were happy this a.m. 74.4 kgs (11-10). Could be your idea @Krystyna23040. Great art but fraught night @gennepher. @lindisfel I watched The Water Diviner last night. Enjoyed it but what can I say about the folly of mankind that wrought such evil? @dunelm wordsmith and bird artist extraordinaire, we are not worthy. @Muddy Cyclist as I've said before I think your body is kindly filling in the fuel deficit your food intake creates. Anyhow, Brecklands village idiot over and out. Tree pollen allergic man with two dogs needing wrestling into my RR is obviously off to walk them in Thetford forest.

Disappointing as Aunt was upset that her planned menu of pizza for lunch followed by a fish and chip supper was rejected. After some consultation.
I had cheese, pâté and salad for lunch with 2 ryvita. (12g carbs) did have two nibbles from MrSlims magnum though.
Dinner was a large chicken breast served with French beans and tomato. I refused the cherry pie and ice cream. But not the wine. Later had LC tonic and coffee with cream. So was expecting lower..
Snack of pistachios to blame?

Balancing the desire to keep carb intake low and disrupting family meals is a no win situation. You seem to have shown the wisdom of Solomon there but we on this forum will always see the lc choice as the right one. 2 meal days are a distant memory here. Waste of food, neither satiates nor controls my bg, You seem to have that well under control as well. Bet the Magnum tasted amazing.

a 6.5 is todays winning numbers and one lucky winner, is....:bag::rolleyes:

London way to busy the weekend
nearby road at work closed off and all the tables & chairs from Bars & restaurants out in the street..

Like one of those old street parties i vaguely remember from my youth

nice to see, but too much for this soul;, i walked the other way and avoided the crowds as much as possible

stay safe all
Summer to be enjoyed safely if possible
until we know for sure it's under control.

Had my normal breakfast of Kefir, yoghurt, ground hemp, flaxseeds, protein powder, berries sprinkled with flaked almonds. Fbs was 6.6. Two hours after breakfast 6.9. A really tiny rise. I had expected to record a rise to 7.6. Very pleased with this result.

https://www.itv.com/news/2021-04-26...e-bodies-pile-high-in-their-thousands-comment and https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-56890714 Hardly a stretch to imagine him saying that then issuing a point blank denial. What an insufferable being that man is. Oh England, "into what pit thou seest. From what height fallen" What chance do we have of resuming normal health services with him as PM? Absolutely impacts D care and a host of other co-morbidities forumites have. Breathtaking insouciance - seemingly feels he can do and say what he likes.

good evening all :)

4.5 today

a wet and windy day here today so we stayed inside and pottered today ;)

I agree @jjraak it can be a positively stressful feeling being confronted by a number of people now :( it was a sunny day yesterday so the village here was full of people walking dogs and sitting on the beach so mr gee and I spent yesterday afternoon working in Mum's garden after lunch rather than coming home and walking round the village ;)

Mum however is delighted that the shops etc. are open from today and was off out early on the bus to get her hair done and buy some knitting wool from her favourite charity shop.

The internet and our phone have been reconnected (for now at least :joyful: ), the hole in the road the water board dug is still there ;) but we also have reasonable water pressure :D

Hope your day is treating you well :)

@gennepher - hugs for the tiring night but at least you saw the early light and you've produced a great portrait of Popeye, his eyes have turned out particularly well :)

@dunelm - I just love your nesting cranes, so sensitively drawn, just beautiful :joyful:

@Muddy Cyclist - You made thoughtful preparations but I'm glad mrs MC didn't have that uncomfortable reaction second time around :)

art bit -
I was digging about in a box yesterday and I found an 8 x 6" pad of 'Bockingford' watercolour paper, I think it was the spare pad I bought and mostly never used when I was doing art at school :hilarious:

it's gone a bit cream coloured at the edges and the price written on the cover in pencil is 5 shillings and 4 pence :D I shall try it at some point ;)

today's pic is based off a photo seen online :)

Missed that one, sound terrific but not sure I am brave enough at 71. Strange how age and lockdown seems to have made me more cautious and uneasy about wildcamping which I have done on many a mountain in abundance in the past.
