Breakfast: vegetable soup, with emphasis on leeks.

Lunch: mashed avocado with some celery sticks to dip into it.

3rd meal: will be the chicken and veg bake I didn't bother with after all yesterday.

Unless something drastic happens, I will have it today because I'm already hungry and it's only 2.45 pm. I have noticed that, if I leave it too long to eat, I start to feel nauseous and that even develops into violent vomiting. Which reminds me, I was wondering why my ribs have been feeling as though I had caused damage with (a non-existent) bad cough - might have been caused a couple of days ago by this very phenomenon.

@MrsA2 Have you contacted your pharmacist or doctor about the side effects from the pain killers? Either may have helpful suggestions.
Really hoping you get some relief soon
Thank you for kind thoughts. Yes I will tomorrow. I stopped them last night and feel so much better today but the pain is back.

Pain killers can be pretty horrible - useful in reducing pain but they can make you feel really ill. When I had surgery on my thyroid/parathyroid, I was given Dihydrocodeine for a while but had to ask the hospital to stop them - I was too groggy all the time and after coming off them, realised that I could remember little of what had happened during those days. But, these days, I do take 30/500 cocodamol once in a while. Not every day, and never more than twice a day and then only if things are very bad because even they make me very groggy and sleepy. Sometimes you have to make a choice between accepting the effects of the drug or accepting the pain. It isn't easy and I hope you find a happy medium very soon.

Much happier foodwise today as not feeling nauseous, nor that I had to eat because the tablet packet said to.

L: cold beefburgers with green salad. Chocolate mug cake

D: chicken with green beans, courgette and broccoli. 2 strawberries with cream

Yum!
I found affordable asparagus!

Had them with 2 mashed eggs with butter and salt, some smoked trout salad which was on offer and a couple of very small baby potatoes, again with butter and salt. :):hungry:

That asparagus looks tinned. Do you not get fresh in the Netherlands?

Not tinned at all! Just peeled and cooked. :)

But they were cheaper because it were the lopsided ones!
Oh, I've never thought of peeling them...but I suppose thats what they do to tinned ones. I am an idiot

If you don't peel them it's impossible to bite a piece off! In my family asparagus have been a luxury food since I were a child, and they are finger food. Asparagus in one hand, fork with some egg in the other, combine in mouth.
Not sure why really, as it's a messy way of eating and juices will drip down your elbow. I've simply never questioned this being the way to eat white asparagus, but it does enhance the special festive feeling! :hilarious:

I saw on a food programme that the white asparagus is much more common in Europe than in the UK - and the presenter thought it had a better flavour. Unfortunately, asparagus is one of the foods that I can't eat. The rest of the meal looked great. Great also being able to buy lopsided or otherwise odd vegetables.

Edited to add: I had some of the chicken and vegetable bake around 6.30 pm but didn't finish it - half of it was quite enough. BG dropping though, will have to keep an eye on it.

Yesterday - Saturday - brunch - 2 eggs mashed up in a cup with butter. Mug of earl grey tea

Saturday night out for food & drinks woo hoo! - surf n turf steak with large salad which included cheese & coleslaw. Followed by too many rums & diet cola. I think everyone just goes out earlier (including me) as pubs close earlier.

Today - Sunday brunch - hungover so 1 dgf raspberry & coconut cake with mug of earl grey tea

Dinner - not very hungry as very warm here - I spent day washing & sitting out in sun (our summer -1 day I think) so just prawn cocktail, 2 slices slc bread toasted with corned beef. followed by 1 phd smart bar (white chocolate blondie I think) washed down with mug of earl grey, also had lots of water throughout the day

football, both the game and the culture.
13.06.
Breakfast wasn't any really, got up early, before 6am and went straight outside to work in the garden before it got too hot. Well that was the plan.
CWC about 8.30
CWC about 12 30
Lunch mixed salad, avocado one tiny slice of toast. (Pain kapnor is a French specialist bread with 28g carbs per 100g) very small portion of potato salad, few olives, one fresh apriciot, sugar free squash and cup of tea.
Several glasses of squash in the afternoon and early evening. One cup of tea.
We both worked too hard and too long so dinner was very late.
Dinner bbq sausages, one really tiny piece of potato, lettuce, macedoine salad, few olives. 2 glasses of wine
Bedtime, my usual lemon and ginger tea.

Hi All so back to Friday. Brekkie as is every day slice of HiLo toast and tea.
Had a surprise lunch at the pub with eldest sun and had a fab griddled asparagus and goats cheese salad with lambs lettuce, thin slices of crispy radishes and mange tout dressed with lemon & basil vinegrette. Baked salmon with lemon butter and a little brocolli in the evening. Sat had a long lazy lunch with great friends at Cotes outside under an umbrella. Had seabass with buerre blanc and shared olives and mussels. Later Mr PM wanted Indian t/a so although I did not needit I had cauli bhajee and four Tandoori prawns. Wearing Libre and bg held up really well all day. Dranks loads of water. Yesterday lunch was a small plate with tiny bit of smoked salmon (struggle with it) tiny bit of smoked mackerel (again not my fave) and spoon of small prawns and a few olives quarter avocado (again a struggle for me). Had made up a platter for husband and second son who turned up unexpectedly so I joined in.
In the evening had 2 beef burgers off the BBQ topped with Emmantel and fried mushrooms, very filling, 2 glasses chilled Rose.
Today plan lunch of M&S salt and pepper calamari and salad. Tonight fry up of chicken, chorizo, red pepper, paprika with cauli rice.
I hadn’t been out to eat for 18 months but in the last couple of weeks have been really making up for it since double jab and all outside.
Can I ask if anyone has found instant coffee raises BG. I am a bit curious because the Libre seems to rise if I have a couple of mugs between brekkie and lunch. I am not a lover of strong coffee and its easy to reach for a spoonful from a tin. My current one is a new to me Nescafe Gold Blend Roastery Collection, Light Roast.

Bad night after another one of my suffocation dreams. Went to bed about 1.30 am and got up at 2.30 am and watched "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" for a while. This time the breathlessness continued after I got up, so it was an uncomfortable couple of hours. Once it settled, I went back to bed (about 4.30 am) and slept until 7.30. BG at that stage was 12.3. Took some insulin as a correction dose, which didn't work and BG remained in the 12s. So ...

Breakfast: around 11.30 was beef and vegetable soup. Very nice, but not very filling. BG beginning to drop now - currently at 10.5.

I have just turned my "corned beef" out. It doesn't look very much like corned beef, but it definitely tastes the part. So the 2nd meal today will be corned beef salad.

Just heard from the garage that the Scenic is finally done and ready for collection. So shopping will be done tomorrow and I will be able to get to the fish shop. Looking forward to that.

Also heard this morning that a friend who was living in Worthing has just died (not sure, but I think they turned off his life support) after recurring cancer not being diagnosed during the lockdown. He had been sick for many years - since soon after he received a kidney transplant in the 60s. All the medication he had to take made him sick and he lived with pain for most of those years. I guess it was a release, but so many regrets for the poor soul and his wife who had cared for him all that time.

I turned the other half of the asparagus into an aparagus and leek salad with eggs, mayo and more of the smoked trout salad stuff. Very festive with a chopped tomato and some shrimps on top, and enough left for tomorrow!
