What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.0 this morning. I am pleased with that reading as it was 9.0 last night after a mini ice cream and 2 sweets.

We had another lovely day yesterday and everyone enjoyed the walk around Sheringham Park. Today it is Holkham and lunch at the Victoria.

Yesterday, Fort Knox Fence neighbour of the long Tarmacadam driveway had yet more workmen in. A pile of them, making yet more noise. If I wasn't so tired through having not much sleep, I would have gone out for the day.

So, off came my cochlear hearing processor, and I was listening to the land of tinnitus in my head yesterday...

I appear to have a lot more sparrows visiting, hence the bird food and fatballs was gone by midday. This is more than they eat in Winter.

Mrs Bluetit is always flying in, keeping the bird population in order.

Caught up on sleep now.

Creative is a kaleidoscope in Laboscope pointed to somewhere in my bedroom.

A quick nap, then get on with the day...

An iced drink next...

Does that neighbor ever stop? We did a lot of work earlier in the year but discussed it with our neighbours on either side of us first and kept them up to date. Lovely kaleidoscope.

Good morning everyone on another cool and overcast day. Five of our grandchildren have now skedaddled on holiday, three to Bude in Cornwall and two to Southern Spain. I think that the Cornwall Three are off to Tintagel today. We have been assured (is that the word) that it’s raining outside but so far, not a drop. Still, that assurance is such a comfort. Is Micheal Fish still influencing our weather? Commonwealth Games opening ceremony last night - oh dear, I wonder who signed that off. Withstood it for nearly 15 minutes before I had to turn it off and take to drugs, fags and booze - and I don’t even smoke. I hope that the actual games themselves, the important bit, goes well.
Art - some foliage added to yesterdays bare trunks and a bit of padding out. Hope everyone is well and all the best for this current Friday. My koffy is now brewed so toodle pip.

Morning all.

As to why...not a Scoobies

Yesterday off to hand therapy.

Must admit the last few weeks have been my best since accident

So quite chipper at meeting compared to last hand appointment, which was post "leg still broke" bad news.

Discussed and I explained I seemed to be giving bad news too much importance, and have decided to celebrate each success, no matter how small, with the attention it deserves...seems to be working, for now.

And Hand finally showing decent improvement.
The work of the lovely lady helping me,
The mysterious qualities of silicone &
The introduction of the body massager
All taking a well earned bow

Grip right v left was 41 /11
Now it's 42/20....:D.
And all other metrics up, too
(Device measures finger joints/wrist/etc)

Could manage to actually make a fist (albeit very weak...but it IS progress :) )

After, I popped into work, colleague returning for good to Poland

Missed his leaving drink, so we had a few shandies to see him off.

Long old day, and once home tiredness hit me, legs just exhausted, I think from being on them a lot more then normal.

Early night & glad of it
Out like a light.

Early wake up a bit more pain then normal.

Price worth paying & possibly a good sign that nerve damage etc is starting to settle down & pain receptors have renewed or rerouted, hence the raised awareness ..(I hope )

Marley been a frequent visitor of late, again

Sadly for him, today we're looking after nephews Bichon Frisé...so Marley won't be happy to find yet another dog when he comes knocking ..lol.

But he still get his little feed, but outside rather then in.

Other then that plan is to relax and just enjoy a peaceful day

Happy Friday everyone.
Enjoy your day

Good morning all here in the UK and good evening? @Jojo85. Clear azure sky here in The Suffolk Dustbowl. This region is one of the UK's driest and this July has apparently been the driest since 1911 when the 1910 Budget began to impact The Elite of the time having, perhaps, laid the foundations of the welfare state. No, Lloyd George didn't know my Great Grandfather. A favourite book of mine back in the day was The Strange death of Liberal England. Summer and salmon salad day here so thanks be to God for that and so much else. @Krystyna23040 enjoy Holkham, even the long trek to the beach. @gennepher hug for the noise from that neighbour with incredibly deep pockets and thanks for the kaleidoscope. @dunelm thanks for sharing your art and I hope those grandchildren make magical memories to share with you and Mrs Miggins. Good fences make good neighbours (Robert Frost) and ours are having their's replaced or repaired to save me trying to stop the parts still intact blowing down in the next storm. The properties on either side are rented to US service people and this one is owned by a church in a nearby village.

That all sounds positive. Even the tiredness is a good tiredness just a shame about the pain. The plan sounds excellent so I hope nothing derails your relaxation and peace.

Happy Friday for you too @jjraak

All the hand stuff sounds brilliant!

Now, I have a couple of post-it notes, saying something like "Thank you for my amazing magical day", and if I fall off the wagon of positivity, they are a reminder that it is easy to be positive again. Just a thought. Some saying/words that will rock your boat.

Poor Marley, he won't be pleased.

Take care

Remember, you are AMAZING!

He never stops, and never says anything about any work he is having done. No warnings. Pretty much all the work he has had done on a frequent basis since 2020, has been horrendous as regards noise, and the tarmac work recently really took the biscuit. If I said on here what I thought of him on here, this site would award me more stars than I ever received at school.

It is the same with the neighbour on the other side, Mr Xmas Lights. He has had so much noisy disruptive (for me & others) work done in the past, that once I went to him and asked very politely if he could give some advance warning of the work that was to be done and what disruption might we expect.. Mr Xmas Lights blew his top, said that he could do whatever he wanted to his property, he didn't have to tell me or anyone else, it was his money to spend as he wished on his property, and then he got rather insulting...and I just walked away.

I have an ignoramus of the highest order either side of me. Both of them are morons.

Thanks for the kaleidoscope compliment @dunelm

A brilliant hillside of trees @dunelm

When did the weather app and the weather outside ever agree on the status of the weather?

Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and regular readers and Neanderthals mustn’t forget Neanderthals, oh and a new category I’ve just read about people who listen to radio four.
A straight 6.0 this Morening.
Have a good afternoon and stay safe all.
Ps congratulations on your positivity @jjraak .

Thanks @ianpspurs
I appreciate that hug.
I think it is safe to say I have inconsiderate, disrespectful, callous, heartless neighbours either side of me, who think only of themselves. I was studying my thesaurus to find some savage words to describe both of them...but I failed...
How deep are the Fort Knox Fence guy's pockets?

Now, if only I could sell my bungalow to the neighbour from hell for both of them...unless I could turn into the neighbour from hell for both of them...now that's an idea...

Glad you liked the kaleidoscope.

You have a good day.

Good morning all. No fbs test this morning as I had my HbA1c blood test yesterday afternoon. Whilst I was in the doctor's surgery Mr. D collected my repeat prescription from the chemist's next door. When we got home I proceeded to put my medication into my weekly tablet organiser. When I opened my box of Bisoprolol (Beta blockers), I noticed that the label had been placed on a box of Felodipine ( blood pressure tablets) by mistake. We drove back to the chemists as I am supposed to take my beta blocker with breakfast and I had none left for this morning. The chemists had just closed as it was early closing day! So up early this morning to be at the chemist's for opening time. All now sorted, apologies from the pharmacist and correct tablets supplied. Just concerning that had I not noticed I could potentially have been taking twice as many blood pressure tablets and no beta blockers for the next month. Both boxes for "dispensed by" and "checked" had been signed. I always check the contents of my prescription bag before leaving the chemist's but only look at the sticky labels. Note to self to also check the name on the tablet boxes too. Best wishes that you all have the kind of day you are hoping for. :)

@ianpspurs - we parked in The Victoria car park and it took 45 minutes to get to the sea - down Lady Annes Drive and then along the board walk and because the sea was so far out we had a very long walk across the beach. The grandchildren and Labradors had a great time in the sea.

Grandson spotted an injured baby seal - which we reported. The seal was rescued and taken to a seal sanctuary to recover.

Everyone really enjoyed the meal at The Victoria. I had salmon salad and then 2 scoops of ice cream. Blood sugars 5.0 tonight but probably will be high tomorrow.

Walked through the grounds of Holkham Hall after our meal. By then we had walked nearly 7 miles.

Very well spotted @dogslife

I know I don't say it enough ....

But thank you all for the support over the last 8 months

Each kind word, message or just a 'like', has forced a little sunlight in to a sometimes gloomy day, and left me feeling supported in way I can never truly say "Thank You" for properly.

Add in the tales of your own lives, the art, the sage advice (or otherwise ;) ) & the generous smattering of humour, each of you, in your own inimitable way, made each day a little brighter .

So a humble "Cheers" will have to suffice.

Most grateful & humbled by your individual & collective generosity of spirit.

Xxx

Oooh what did I do? I bought a vegan meal from the Polish shop. I fancied a change in food. It was delicious. But too many carbs. Would I do this again? Yes! For an occasional treat.

Yesterday Midnight was exploring my bungalow a lot. Then going back outside again. I always keep the kitchen door closed, and so when I open it, I find Midnight on the other side wondering what this big secret is.

I invited him in. And he explored it, found the broken cat flap from when Popeye was attacked. Midnight tried to push through, but it was taped up. I might have a go at repairing it just for Midnight to try it, but it wouldn't stand up for regular use, If he uses it, and can squeeze his portly belly through it, then I will get a new one, the same size, and that should be easy for me to install.

Anyway while Midnight was in the kitchen he watched me eat. His eyes opened wider. So I gave him a prawn. He liked it, his eyes open wider....more prawns. So he got half my prawns. And I had to look for something else for my breakfast.

I was having a nap later in the day in my bed. I open my eyes to find them staring into a pair of wide open eyes studying me. Midnight's paws were on the edge of my bed, raising him so he could see me. I have no idea what he was thinking, but it was as if he was saying why are you sleeping? Why should I not sleep as much as a cat does if I feel like it? It was a very warm still airless day. The air was thick, it was like breathing sticky fog.

Birdies - Little Miss now has two suitors who are rather intense. And Little Miss has no intention of having any babies this year. But the suitors are thinking otherwise...

At this minute the blackbirds are sounding the alarm call, but I cannot see any intruders.

Midnight and Jade have been fed. Jade was first in the queue this morning. The gingers have patrolled in. Little black cat Ammy has scootered in and out like a lightning flash. So I think that is the current lot of strays all fed for breakfast.

And I am thinking about my breakfast and a nap. It was hard sleeping last night despite having fans on and my mini personal humidifiers on.

So, creative this morning is a kaleidoscope in Laboscope pointed at my personal humidifier sending out mists of water droplets....

The small birds are a little quiet this morning...but they are feeding. I have my cochlear sound processor on, so far. Had to take it off again yesterday because of Fort Knox Fence neighbour's workmen's excessive noise. Yesterday their very long white van came in front of my driveway a little, so when I got back from the shops, that white van was there, and there must have been less than 2 inches clearance from my side mirror tips either side for me to back into my driveway. I could've gone round, but I was tired after food shopping and trying to get my meds which are missing all my eyedrops because they are apparently unobtainable, that I would have exploded if I had opened my mouth. I just needed to back into my driveway easily as is my right, get in and make a cuppa before I offloaded my shopping. The fresh stuff was in a cool bag. So, I just backed in. One of the workmen came out of his driveway and came round to check the back of his van. His sneering annoyed look said mind my van you decrepit old biddy, so I pressed the button to wind down my window, and gave him my best evil hex ridden witches death stare, and he shrivelled up and climbed into his van and shut the door. Then I proceeded to back in competently and went in....
