What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I still have a few manual typewriters @dunelm and spare ribbons. The one in the potting shed does cursive writing. It was J's father's. It is older than me. Keeping that in working order ready for the apocalypse...

Great finish to the ink drawing.
Enjoy that coffee.
Thank you @gennepher - cursive writing - smashing.

Greetings everyone from another warm, dry day in East Anglia where politicians take a holiday from reality according to other politicians. Among a slew of other outcomes from the latest batch of blood tests yesterday a random bg level was 5.7. Blood pressure was “excellent”, which, considering I'm notoriously prone to white coat syndrome is amazing. All markers in normal range, heart rhythm and pumping ability normal so thanks be to God @gennepher thanks for two creatives. @dunelm striking pieces of art lately so thank you very much. @Jojo85 enjoy the cheese platter. We "discovered" Reblochon (melted for dipping) on Thursday. Our 9 year old grandson is now a huge fan. @Krystyna23040 I hope yesterday wasn't too emotional for everyone. I thought of you all as I looked out into a packed waiting room. Some really touching examples of love there which will take a long time to process properly. Later, I'm off to give the ancient (04) RR a run just to keep things working. Possibly across the border into Thetford Norfolk - there is a river Thet - where Lidl hang out. Stay safe, hydrated and a tad less perfectionist/under pressure/hothoused than Gen Z but absolutely not as booze/pub centric as Boomers wrongly think they should become. Fings ain't wot they used to be, thankfully. They weren't "all that" anyhow, let's be honest. Tone and Bill were definitely on to something with that 3rd way vibe - not a political reference AJ. Fbg 6.6

I went outside yesterday evening to take some kaleidoscope photos. But I had left it too late, the light had gone too much...

So I took a couple of kaleidoscopes of Midnight. This is how they turned out.
One was the bullish Midnight a bit like when he first came here.
The second one, Laboscope shows Midnight as a slimmed down cat!
Will he ever get that size? I doubt it. But he has lost a little weight, very slowly, and it has made the difference to him being able to jump from my bed, over a tall waste paper bin, on to the steps outside my bedroom door.
He is definitely more agile.

So, these two kaleidoscopes are my Creatives for today.

I have harvested some beans and peas earlier, and they will be part of my breakfast in a bit.

A cuppa now.

Have a good day!

Smashing kaleidoscopes - what does Midnight think of them? Enjoy your fresh harvest.

Thank you @ianpspurs. All working parts within range - you might end up being normal for Norfolk - tie dye that white coat for extra protection against such things.

Morening, very busy at the moment and no time, sorry.
Yesterday blood sugars were 5.3 and this morning were 5.5.
Hopefully abnormal posting will resume tomorrow.
Stay safe and according to the media avoid all poxy monkeys the new number one killer.

Really good news that your test results were excellent.

Very reassuring results@ianpspurs. :)

@Krystyna23040 and @dogslife thanks. @dunelm I would probably be classed as SFS - Satisfactory for Suffolk or BFB - Basic for Breckland. Good that the biomarkers were normal, shame about the Elephant in the room. Still, nothing there to stop the planned treatment so back on Wednesday for session one. I'll be delighted to keep going long enough to pay for my own car park.

@ianpspurs hope your first round of treatment for 'the elephant in the room' goes well. Is it chemo or radiotherapy? Hope I haven't completely misunderstood your post.

Such a shame that patients have to contribute so much to areas of car parks, what a world. All the very best for Wednesday.

Chemo every other week plus tablets. Thanks for the good wishes.
Hope the side effects are not too horrid. Good that you are having the chemo. Unfortunately Hilary opted not to have the chemo because of the side effects. The sad thing is that the outcome would have been a lot better if she had gone ahead with it.

Thank you @ianpspurs for the kaleidoscope compliment and for the lyrics....
Glad your blood pressure was excellent despite the white coat syndrome...
All the best for your treatment.

4.7 this morning. We are going out for lunch today at the Twenty Church Wardens in Cockley Cley. A lovely little traditional pub with excellent and very reasonably priced food. We will park there and walk around the Cockley Cley Hall grounds which sre just across the road. So another relaxing day.

Fbg 7.2

It has been a nightmare last couple of days, because the humidity was low. It was 52% day before yesterday, my eyes were too dry and no amount of eyedrops helped. My eyes were sticking together. Finally, mid-afternoon I had the bright idea of using my clear work safety goggles. They fit over my glasses. I sprayed my eyelids with Optrex, put glasses, then safety goggles on. Of course it was all steamed up, that was the objective. But once it cleared...ah bliss, I can blink my eyes again instead of it feeling like two sheets of sandpaper rubbing together.

The only problem was, I couldn't wear my cochlear processor because all that knocks it off the magnet. So I cannot hear voices, at least not the ones outside my head...

But then next problem emerged. My cat food (it was a heavy load for me and I needed it in the kitchen) from the Amazon driver was due any minute, and no way was I taking off these work safety goggles. I had briefly earlier and my eyes dried up instantly. Amazon man came pulling his trolley, and stopped dead at this apparition in front of him. So, I simply said 'kitchen door' (all my parcels are delivered at kitchen door, it's on their instructions), but he wasn't following me, he was saying something, I had no idea what, I cannot hear him. I couldn't explain anything, my brain was blank, except brain suggested saying a belated 'please'. He is still staring at my safety goggles.

He did come to kitchen door, still saying something. Still no idea what, as safety goggles are steaming up, and I cannot see to lipread. So, I go half way into kitchen, "I would be ever so grateful if you would put them on that chair', it was just besides the door. There wasn't a hope on this Earth I could ever lift those boxes. I think he had got used to me by now, or something, then there was an envelope under his arm with a couple of small things in. With an exaggerated sweep (like a prince taking his hat off to the princess), he gave me my envelope. I was half expecting my hand to be kissed...

But he left grinning.

So that was me straight on Amazon looking for over glasses, either work or sunglasses. My current sunglasses which go over spectacles are too small. There is one that fits, and I am wearing it now as I type this, but they are dark as night. And they fit pretty tight to my skin. A tiny gap each side but that's okay.I got these for my migraines. Amazon tells me I have one hour and 10 mins to order if I want them for today, Sunday. I am measuring my glasses, I am looking for measurements for each pair on Amazon. Amazon says you have 35 mins. Bang bang bang, I order 6 pairs, press pay, order goes through.

I'll find out around midday how successful I have been. I am seeing my friend this week, and I know she will run a mile if I approach her with work safety goggles on...

Creative - my little fairy in the garden that J bought me, in Laboscope as a kaleidoscope.

Right cuppa tea needed now.

All cats fed, Jade and Midnight at the back, Ammy, bold as brass, came into the kitchen as the other two were feeding at the back out of sight. Remnants on each plate combined for the the ginger cats, along with a few biscuits...

Have your best day...cause as much mischief as you can...

Make someone grin...

Hello to all from Breckland where surprise, surprise, it is sunny, dry and likely to remain so until at least half way through the first week in September. I'm astonished Liz hasn't blamed The Woke/EU/Putin for drought and promised to end it along with the rest of her slash and burn campaign. Perhaps that is for the final push. Thanks for all the good wishes. Much as I have often found minimal pleasure or sense in Elsie it appears God's plan was to use her as a way to give me the strongest base possible for this journey. @Krystyna23040 Hilary obviously had her reasons for not having chemo but I had no doubts and want to take this as deep into injury time as possible. Enjoy the meal and perhaps a coffee and sausage roll amuse bouche beforehand? @gennepher hug for the dry eyes but ever resourceful so I hope the over glasses arrive and do the job. Thanks for the creative, I like the shapes. @alf_Josiah appreciate the thoughts given your own journey. If we were ever to meet I guess we would need to fist bump through perspex screens/ clink riot shields. Take care everyone since the weather is still warm for UK, covid hasn't gone away, boosterism/magical thinking is rampant and unlike Hogwarts help is not always available. Dumbledore for PM?

Oh what a tale - and such a sight (sic) for the man from Amazon. You probably made his day. When I worked in Africa I had sun glasses with leather side shields. They were originally used to prevent snow blindness when I was in the Arctic but served me well in tropical sunshine.

Good morning everyone, just. It was monsoon weather last night but I did finally get eight hours of sleep. It has taken me three nights, but whatever. We have already walked into town. The girl in the bubble stayed over last night so it was toast and butter at the cafe before she was dropped back at home. Tickets booked to go to France in September to see my parents and my sister. She is now well into her second set of chemo mixed with radio therapy and unlike the first lot of chemo, it is not whacking her out for a couple of days afterwards. My mother has decided that she now needs an electric scooter to give her more mobility so there will need to be some changes made so that she can zoom in and out of the house without having to go tackle steps. Art bit, another set of steps. Hope the rest of your day is pleasant. I have had enough koffy now so it’s time for some more tea.
