What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Afternoon update. JKP is much better and up and about but thanks for all the good wishes. @lindisfel good news on the cataract operation going smoothly and do heed @Outlier's advice but with a GP daughter and The Duchess I'm sure you will. Covid rates have, as predicted, risen significantly with the return of secondary schools and general relaxation. Not sure all the crowds lately will have helped. @jjraak the Sheeran/Bocelli song is on my gym playlist. Con te partirò must have been very moving at a funeral so hug for the memory.
Good news that JKP is feeling a lot better now.

The Ghost Cat

This cat has never visited at night before. I think it must be a ginger cat, but it looks ghostly. I think Midnight saw it off his premises.

I was awake in the night, so had the light on, and was playing making kaleidoscopes...and watching YouTube vids on people who have cams on their nighttime guests.

Then Midnight came in. He wanted me to go outside with him, so I made a cuppa, wrapped my dressing gown round me, and we are sitting companionably on the swing in the early dark hours. I am making noises, slurping my tea, tapping my feet on the ground, slapping my legs, anything to keep the wild beasts away. I did put my hearing processor on. I hear a twig break here, see a shadow move between the trees, and I can see a pair of eyes looking at me, and I look down on my bare legs and wonder how safe they might be from foxes and badgers. I slap my legs even more. Note to self...put jeans on next time.

An hour and a half I sat out with Midnight. Nothing came up to me...

Midnight was so pleased I was sharing his nighttime vigil. He purred and purred.

I came in, locked up, then checked nothing had crept in through the open door...

This morning, I took a kaleidoscope of my sunflower for my creative...

Got stuff to do.

Cuppa first...

Make it an interesting day...

What a champion, holding vigil with Midnight. Smashing kaleidoscope, I have missed them.

Glad tidings about JKP - strong is that immune system.

Good morning everyone on another splendidly quiet start here in the dark and dangerous north. Absolutely threw it down yesterday morning and by the time Mrs Miggins had got up, the cars had been washed and the garden watered - perhaps we need a hose pipe ban to help with leveling up although now we are supposed to have blind faith in the machinations of Friedman and Hayek. By noon though, the sun came out and so did Mrs Miggins’ gardening gloves. Afternoon walk into town ended up in a pub discussing train timetables and other mid expanding topics. The heating has decided to make an appearance, best stop that in it’s tracks before it gets too familiar. Need to experiment with this new wood burner about damping down for the night with some coal briquettes. Art bit - panic ye not @jjraak - it now just needs a bit of colour added (look away now). Koffy - best make some koffy.

I am back to being a small child again, running through ruined castles and up those stairs...no safety rails then at the top to stop you leaping into the abyss.
Good luck with getting to grips with the new wood burner @dunelm

The Ghost Cat Returns

I saw Ghost Cat in daylight yesterday morning. He/she came to my kitchen door as I was putting food out for my stray cat Ammy (short for Amethyst). Ghost Cat is a ginger type cat, very soft fur, but more a pale peach colour. virtually no markings. Ghost Cat tried a bite of Ammy's breakfast, but it seemed more interested in me as a person, although it did not allow me to touch it.
In the night Ghost Cat seemed more interested in my raspberry bush, sniffing it...

Creative today is a drawing of one of the ghostly things I appeared to see when I sat on the swing with Midnight in the early hours. It looked like a slender elongated unicorn's head and neck, but no horn. It did have big hair, and I couldn't work out what was there to give that effect/illusion. So I looked at it in daylight, and the face and neck are two large comfrey leaves, but nothing to suggest the big hair.

So, I sat with Midnight in the dark at bed time last night, and the same effect/illusion was still there...the comfrey leaves created the head and neck of the unicorn, and I presume the shadows created the big hair.

I call it a unicorn because J made me a pottery bust of a white unicorn a couple of decades ago. I put it in the garden. Then one hard winter, the horn shattered. A few years later after another hard winter, I got up one morning to see white scattered fragments of pottery.

This ghostly unicorn will change as the comfrey leaves grow...

5.9 this morning. As my knee is so much better we are off for a very gentle walk at Sheringham Park. We will keep to the main tarmac path as my knee won't do well on the smaller paths deep into the woodland.

Mr K took a little persuading that it is sensible to go out today but I think (hope) it will be OK if we do a very gentle amble.

Hello everyone from a beautifully clear, bright but chilly edge of The Brecks and the known to and loved by me world. Some virtual property hunting is taking place. Bungalows with solar panels, wood/multifuel burners and Fenland underfoot are a very appealing proposition. Talking of which, so is lamb shoulder studded with rosemary, garlic and anchovies. JKP had her best night's sleep for ages so good news there. @dunelm thank you for the gradual reveal of another wonderful piece of art. @gennepher a simply majestic unicorn - bravo. @Krystyna23040 take care on that walk and if Mr K says this is far enough break the habit of a lifetime and listen. :D @dogslife covid influenced fbg is no guide to your real fbg so rest up and perhaps forget testing just now. Have a three degrees day everyone.

Heat does sound an attractive proposition today...

BREAKING NEWS:
”Wives being right, is totally different to Blokes being Blokes."

Claims top fitness instructor

Could this be true ?

We leave you with the wise words of one amused onlooker at the scene, who asked to remain anonymous ...

"No, it's the same thing, we're just wise enough to nod & say nothing,"

He winked, before returning to eating his sausage roll....;)

Now the weather, with Lyndsey....

Good news on JKP....
cracking little track.

Reminded what a distinctive note that era of music had .

Fully agree on not testing , at least until the covid fully gone.

One battle at a time, and muster all our strength on one goal.

Good morning all. fbs 17.3 at 7am.
(Test repeated following bathroom visit/ hand wash, same finger =15.3. )
Best wishes to you all. :)
Aww....I'd say @ianpspurs is right.
Higher numbers expected with any illness probably more likely so with covid
(Read some getting it seem to go on to being DX'd as T2D..wonder if it messes with our BG regulatory system )

Either way, the testing must be more stressful when we can't really control the numbers no matter what we do .

I am minded to say, it's not a rule You have to test before posting.

I for one, would be happy to hear how you are doing without the testing numbers part.

Sometimes it's just nice to post our thoughts or worries without upsetting those 'physically' nearby.
& It'd be good to keep track, at least until you give us the happy news you are over it .

Best wishes to you & Mr D

Smile attentively, nod, agree, ignore, forget

Thank you so much @jjraak for your kind words--much appreciated. My blood sugars have been raised for some time, hence the increased medication with the aim of repeating my HbA1c after 3 months but Covid will have scuppered that. So yet more delay in sorting me out. There is no point in worrying about it anymore as I'm doing all I can. Sometimes things are just beyond our control. I feel sure you must go through phases like that as most people do at times. As you say it helps knowing people on here have empathy and that we all wish the best for each other. :)
