What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

That's exactly the colour our sky was this morning and the ground is the colour of the field outside our window. Love your use of colours. Can't see why you feel that this creative is inadequate. It is not, by any means.

You just reminded me that I took insulin about and hour and an half ago, intending to make my breakfast - and then I forgot. thank you. Ah - now my Libre is beeping at me. It will be reading 3.9, but the actual figure will be more like 4.1 or 2, so no worries, but I guess I should make that breakfast.
Thank you very much for the compliment on my painting.
It is great to know that it looks like somewhere!

I hope you've managed to get some breakfast down you by now @Annb

I am doing the upping my amitriptyline dosage today. I had to during the night as well. I am trying to avoid taking painkillers, I just want to avoid taking them if I can. But if I run out of the amitriptyline, then it will be onto the painkillers. My feet are doing the, we wish to be amputated dance today...

Is it all this wet weather or what? I'm disappointed my feet are hurting so much, especially as I am getting my blood sugar levels at a constant level most of the day without doing the rises they were doing at one time...

I just feel as though I am failing today.

Wildlife garden camera....
A little sparrow in the teeming rain!
He seems to have been eating the scraps of cat biscuits under the swing...
I am calling this a sparrow, but actually might be the little Dunnock that lives in my garden.

As I have just said, I feel I am failing today.
This is the best painting I can do for my Creative, it started in ZenBrush3, but I had to move it over to Procreate for a bit of help with brushstrokes. I know I can do better. But it's the best I can do today.

I am way behind today. It's now midday and I need to go and cook my breakfast.

I did feed the wildlife gang earlier while it was still dark. Everything had been eaten in the night, including Midnight's buffet bar in the kitchen, all the dishes had been licked completely clean. They had all queued up outside the catflap to get in, so I think even the wildlife are having problems with this wet weather. Midnight has another buffet bar in my bedroom, so he's alright if he needs a midnight snack.

Yes gennepher it's a dunnock. An Accentor, not a Sparrow.
There is just one more Accentor regular in Northern Europe the Alpine Accentor. I saw them in Austria near the bottom of the Gross Glockner glacier where they breed.. Sometimes they visit the UK, but rarely, usually in winter.

Back from the town of midget jockeys with a splendid shoulder of lamb - 20% off and free coffee from a well known purveyor of goodies. What's not to like? Nan London is downstairs and picking at Papa John's from last night. @Krystyna23040 and @Annb thanks for the concern over MIL. Lots of work for JKP but a care home costs the price of an average UK house every two years or sooner for "patchy" care. (Mrs Caldicot's cabbage war) The next issue with NL will be over a trip to Wales. Son and kids off to buy/try a bike but keen to be here for the lamb tomorrow. @gennepher thanks for the creative which looks splendid to me. Exactly what are you failing at? @lindisfel for goodness sake apply for that blue badge quickly. We need you here and The Duchess needs you in one piece.

Yes I need to get on with it.
Thanks Ian.

Thank you. This is a lone Dunnock, he/she has no fellow Dunnocks with him. But he hangs out with the sparrows, and the male robin....

There is some other stuff going on, and it is all too much at the moment, hence the general feeling of failure...whatever it is I am doing.

Hello everyone from a wet, blustery, bewildering Pig-N-Plane oddity in the East. No fbg but the Prof with whom I had a telephone consultation yesterday about some other problem I forget just now said my bg is fine. @SlimLizzy good news on the pet sitter and meal reduction for Kiki. @Krystyna23040 good news on the relaxation and Aldi cheese. Big but gentle hug for you @Annb but massive winner for the way you cope and communicate with such good grace and love. Today we hope to see our youngest son and his two children and I have my heart set on snaffling a shoulder of lamb for tomorrow. The, not so little now, guy likes lamb should he be here for lunch. So does Nan London who has mastered Alexa for messaging - fortunately. She slipped this morning and needed help to get up. Had she been at home/living alone no telling how long she would have lain there. Now, if you don't mind, I need to tea up and prepare to hunt for lamb and free coffee in the town of pampered horses awash with Emirates money.
To be clear: Kiki is still getting the same amount of food, it's only her mealtimes that are changing. This way might be possible to get a twice daily visit. But nobody is going to want to do three or four visits. Especially if the weather is foul. Today strong wind and torrential rain. Yuk. Son1 who was on a walking/camping holiday on the welsh borders has had to abandon it because there is so much flooding. Personally I would never want to go camping in January. However he has all the lightweight/ waterproof/thermal gear and really loves winter camping.

Whatever is going on in your life gennepher, you are NOT a failure. Clearly there is a lot of stress in your life at present, but that is not a failure on your part. You are a strong, gifted, clever, wise and capable person. Confidence can ebb and flow but at the heart of it is the you that we all, on this forum, see in every post.

Enoy the lamb tomorrow - even more so because it was 20% off - that will make it taste even better. I hope JKP can manage the extra work - MIL's care and security will be far superior to that available in a care home. It isn't easy - our family has had a fair bit of experience of caring for elderly relatives - but it is so much better than a care home, and cheaper. Costs of care either in a home or in the community are quite ridiculous.

Edit: apologies, I missed-typed JKP. Fixed now.

Thank you very much for your words @Annb

When numbering the qualities and characteristics of @gennepher Also need to add Kind, compassionate and creative.

Good morning all. Fast heartbeat and very thirsty so tested early and fbs was 19.2. Wrong direction! I had been to the bathroom and washed hands first so that may have contributed. Will have a few blueberries and natural yoghurt for breakfast and take 2 Gliclizide & beta blocker then test again in 2 hours. Fingers crossed. Enjoy the rest of your week-end folks and stay warm. It's chilly out there. :) Update: Retested 1 hour after breakfast and 2x 80mg Gliclizide---increased from 19.2 to 20.3 then after 2 hours ----further increase to 21.3! What am I doing wrong??? Next HbA1c not due until the end of this month. Nothing else to eat now until my salad lunch at 12.30. I am so hungry!:hungry:

Wildlife nighttime camera.
Cat, Jade, surprises the Fox
Moments earlier Jade had crept under the swing, and the fox didn't seem to realise she was there...until she jumped on to the swing...

Creative painting in ZenBrush3 and then a wee bit in Procreate.
Feeling more confident and assured today.
Feet hurt as they always do, even more so lying in bed. But nothing like the firework firecracker party they were holding yesterday.
Today is doable.
Just going to give them a spa footbath...

Time for a cuppa.

I am really impressed that your Son1 loves winter camping. For me it would be a total nightmare. Actually so would summer camping which I did used to love when I was younger (much younger).

That looks like a wild day coming up. Definitely wintry. Poor bird looking for somewhere to rest but those trees are so exposed. You really do reflect the season so well.

Even big crows try to perch on the spindly upper branches of our trees and spend time bouncing around in the wind before giving up and finding shelter elsewhere.

Me too! We didn't go camping as children but my husband was fond of going out for a few days with the boys (so I went too). To me it's just plain inconvenient. Why make things harder than they need to be? The boys used to look forward to camping trips though. Neil doesn't do anything so frivolous now, but Alistair and DIL take the family on camping weekends when the weather suits.
