What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Black ice on our pavements here. A fellow dog walker slid over on it but luckily no bones broken. My new boots were really non slip but I was really careful on the dog walk.

Coffee then off to work. Will catch up with posts in lunch break. I actually have a lunch break today.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentleman and all wonder at where or wear this post will lead or should that be spelt leed? Ah the vagaries of the written Engrish language.

Blood sugars were 6.1 again this morning, drop the decimal point and 61 is another pesky prime number, so what! Is the question.

My day, well most of it is planned, I shall be chiselling away at some fence posts that eventually will become supports for a hand rail, I shall try not to use the machinery for the benefit of the neighbours, but the radio might be on, Mrs J shouting at me and of course the frequent expletives as yet another bit of wood splits the wrong way.

Such is the exciting life being lead in Tilehurst Towers.

Stay safe and warm, now medication is calling along with Mrs J demanding tea.

Another day time wildlife video.
Cat Merlin still here.
I would say he was integrating with the animal life here, whether wild or cats.
He leaves the birds alone which I am pleased with.
The male blackbird eats as many cat biscuits as he can from the end of the swing.
The small birds are eating away off the ground as well. The robin goes under the swing and comes out with a piece of food.

Creative was started in ZenBrush3 and finished in Procreate, but it was taking too long and I ran out of time, and my tablet battery was about to die, so this is it, finished or not...

Time for a cuppa.

Have your best day.

Morning all. Wonderfully bright, sunny and picturesque here with vapour from melting ice coming from shed roofs. Weather watchers will have the feeling of finding places males have found a mystery for generations. However, as @Krystyna23040 points out, there is a darker side to this weather. Care and attention are needed. Which links neatly to words of caution for some. Don't boast to the world about things you aren't actually doing and seemingly have no intention or plan for doing whilst filming yourself breaking the law of the land. It is not fine but will earn you one. @SlimLizzy shame about the sink and hugs for Mr Slim and yourself on the jab after effects. Winner for the French lesson and solution to Kiki's care. @Annb well done on such thorough due diligence over milk. @jjraak hug for the lingering issues with respiratory issues. Yesterday I had a Lidl GI roll which obviously had too many carbs and some non pearl clutcher ingredients. Also kept me satiated until evening meal. Something LC has no ability to achieve. I fill up with tea, grin and bear it as far as possible but it ain't right. My bloods and eye test imply I'm making a reasonable stab of controlling my bg but if next week goes well I may try Stabbington Minor. I find it impossible to believe that the whole sub-optimal complex of cancer, Ian unfriendly location, house and awful government don't adversely affect bg in a way no amount of Puritanical low-carbing can possibly counteract. Much the same as the carbon offsetting bullstuff imho . Besides all of which I was a much nicer, kinder little boy after that roll. Help will always be found at Hogwarts. I've binned the other sinful roll and had black tea this morning because Prudence came round. Enjoy as much of your day as you can. I think free coffee from an aspirational grocer in horse central is a near racing certainty for me.

Finished to your own satisfaction or not that creative is very much to my liking. Sincere thanks for sharing. Obviously snowy in your area. Please look after our share until I can collect it but don't count on me turning up. Me, snow and Wales wouldn't work as a combo but works well for plenty of others.. Stay warm with that electric blanket. I've discovered the bliss of electric throws - Hygge one on the way after a trial run with a "baby" version.

Thank you for liking that painting.
I appreciate that.
I think electric throws are brilliant!
They keep the person warm, and they cost very very little to run, and mine you can keep on all day and it's literally pennies to run. Not sure what the cost will be for the full day but I will be surprised if it was 10p @ianpspurs

Early to bed, ok...just tired.

Everything was easing

But woken up by gentle coughing which quickly became a real hacking cough .

Up to clear myself
Hot tea & a blast of oil of obas.

Feeling much better

Sat trawling web, as ya do.

Twitter and a link to 'that' tax bill.
Much more to this then let on, it seems....Mmhh.

Anyway, back to bed, to try & catch some zzz's.
Hope that cough is tolerable, It’s a nasty virus doing the rounds at present. Interesting link. Sadly they are all at it.

Fbg was 7.3 this morning nothing much else to report so far have to find a hobby other than watching foot ball on the tv as not been getting out very much of late my camera is collecting dust in the corner.
A trip round the local wildlife ponds may give you a chance to talk to others interested in wildlife and photography, including plenty of fresh air as well!
D.
Ps something I need to do myself.

Great that the Lidl GI roll was delicious and kept you satiated. I do agree that so many things not related to the food we eat adversely affect our blood sugar levels.

I was initially surprised when I read your post. I misread "I fill up with tea, grin and bear it" as I fill up with tea, gin and bear it" :)

Haha ..

Sounds like the old joke about missionary caught in jungle,
And the promise of release if he.
He breaks his oaths &

*Drinks 2 gallons of local hooch
*Makes love to the oldest woman in the village
&
* Kills a sabre tooth tiger

Barely standing in his boozy groovy state after the first two

And asking why the old lady has to die....

:hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious:

Good afternoon - I’m missing most of the day but yesterday’s hunt for a small water bottle was a great success and officially approved by the end user. Art bit - another one finished. Hope that everyone is having a decent day of it.

Thank you for sharing that wonderful artwork. I've/we've been truly blessed by the two pieces today. As for a decent day of it, does complimentary coffee and 20% off joint of beef - with loyalty card - qualify? £30 cheaper than a smaller, equal welfare, quality and aging process one from the local farm shop butcher. If you find local butchers good value or quality you are truly blessed - hen's teeth comes to mind. Apparently the boys and grandchildren have invited themselves round for Sunday lunch after swimming tomorrow. W******* had no large enough pork joints. Neither of us were prepared to eat pork loin or leg of lamb ourselves so it would be wrong to feed either to our loved ones. Low slow beef it is then. Not the ideal 14 hrs nor star anise (MIL and babies wouldn't approve Heston) as previously - some concessions must regrettably be made for love. @gennepher, being vaguely ( :D ) cynical I was tempted to say, yeah right, about running costs for the throw but I'll take the word of an experienced user over advertising blurbs.

@ianpspurs I have it on setting 1 or 2 Ian. Any more is too hot for me.

When I bought it a few years ago (2019 I think), the advertising blurb on the plastic bag itself and even in the Argos catalogue (mine is a single size), said it would cost 1p a night in electricity. I did think that was a hopeful estimate at the time...

So your guess is as good as mine what it uses now with inflation....I just multiplied 1p by 10, as a wild guess with current rates of inflation inflation.

Now I have a smart meter, I can see it barely makes a difference to the electricity used.

Feel free to correct me ...what does it claim now?

FBG 8.9 (3.45 am) Tea with milk and pills with yoghurt. BG 10.4 at 6.30 am.
But then:
More tea with milk, low carb breakfast, more tea with milk. BG 6.4.
Glass of milk (really giving the milk a thorough try out). BG 5.0.
Lunch (insulin) chicken mayo sandwich (ordinary bread). BG 4.4.
Another glass of milk. BG 3.4.
And then a rise to 4.0.
Have to think about what that all means, but I don't think it means milk is a no no.
Tomorrow is a zero cow's milk day - just to confirm.

I have no idea how to interpret or work out from your investigations @Annb

I suppose tomorrow will confirm x

The blurb claims 1p per hour. The 1st attached implies more like 5p. I used setting 7 of 9 for the trial last evening but that was on a Slumberdownone. This and the 2nd attached are the best I can find. 150 watts so only time will tell. I'm doing a trial of sorts on the Slumberdown just now - setting 4.

I don't know either but since I am only looking for one thing - milk:yes or no, I think I already have my answer. It could lead to other questions, of course, but that's for another time.

I still have the plastic bag Ian, for my dreamland intelliheat electric throw. 1p a night usage of electricity it says. So that was 4 years ago.
I bought a second one a couple of years later...the same in case it packed in. I think the old one has done its duty. And I am thinking it's time I ditched the older one for safety reasons.
Both have 6 heat settings, and can be put on for one hour or 9 hours on the timer. I usually put it on in multiples of one hour.

Let me know what you decide is the real cost of heating it. Thanks.
