What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

2.9 this morning when the Libre woke me at 2 am. Dragged myself through to the kitchen (no cough sweets left) and had a couple of those soft fruit pastilles. 7.4 an hour later.

Baking didn't go well yesterday - obviously having an off day. Banbury cakes a touch overdone, but salvageable. Baklava a total disaster - I made the syrup too thick and the resulting toffee didn't soak down through the nuts. Managed to salvage about 2/3 of the nuts and will have another go today - when I come back from getting my legs rebandaged. Made some other bits and pieces with leftr over filo pastry but the mixture that I put into them was too wet and the pastry didn't support it. They would be perfectly edible if people kept their eyes shut. Huge pile of sticky, nutty pastry to dispose of. Can't put it out for the birds - their beaks would stick together with the sticky toffee. Compost, I guess. Try making a fruit cake this afternoon.
Put the sticky toffee bits in the ground, with a stone on top or something, the ants and bugs will like it.

Fruit cake sounds good @Annb

Morning all on a stunning start here but hug for those who are feeling hot, hot, hot. I'd be thrilled with shorts, sandals - no socks they're for pool slides - and flimsy tops all year. @gennepher hug for the badgers destroying the mats, potential rain problem and odd effect of the cream in your coffee. Winner for being thorough in trying to solve problems and sharing those amazing photos. @Annb such a shame your baking didn't turn out as you wished despite so much love in each and every bake. I hope the bandaging goes well and today's baking turns out as you wish. @Krystyna23040 interesting about Tuarine which seems to have a variety of benefits . @JohnEGreen is the taurine what gives you wings? @lindisfel hug for the poor sleep. I hope today brings some pleasure for you all.

Thank you @ianpspurs for the compliments...

I bought some taurine to aid sleep ages ago. It helped @Krystyna23040
But over time I forgot about it.
Just found it.
Still in date...
Just...
Will have a go with it as regards blood sugars...

Edit: Just seen @Annb 's question.
My taurine is powdered and from Amazon
Great that it is in date @gennepher. I will look at the powder form next time

Very interesting article @ianpspurs

Good national bin day afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.1 corrective action had to be taken as I was going out on my motorcycle a toasted jam sandwich for the instant sugars and the toast for the slow release carbs after taking insulin.
This mornings destination was Lasham gliding club’s cafe to meet an old school friend who rides a 900cc motorcycle and of course the obligatory vegan bacon sarnie. Hopefully a picture will be attached

Yesterday Mrs J and me, me’s and myself met up with some old colleagues whom were all 17 to 19 years old when we met for the first time. A great time was had by all the laughing and leg pulling carried on just the same. Now we are all 70 years old and more. Sorry no pictures for this, but we met at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon just off the M40, not far from Oxford. The museum in my opinion is better than Brooklands motor museum, Beaulieu and the Haynes motor museum and I want to go back.
My old colleagues had varied careers, at least one is still working part time.
Some became captains of industry, some senior RAF officers and some kept well under the radar so to speak.

A cloudy, no windy, no sun but very very, very warm.
Of course, Thursday shopping and chores been done, A few nice plants to fill the garden up!
Went to wilko when out, it was a shock to see the empty shelves, and everything that Mrs L and my own choices were not available. Plenty of tat, but I wasn't tempted and persuaded the boss that we didn't need it! Phew!
Ham shank is waiting to be devoured within the next hour!
Last rail, fitted first thing today! Now to wait for Monday now!
However, as your life experience shows you, once you sort one thing, another thing comes along!
The blinds in the master bedroom have dropped from the plaster, it is a bay window, and a flat(ish) roof above!
The plaster has crumbled and the blinds will not go back up. It has obviously been a leak or moisture has collected in the brickwork and material over the bay window.
A guy came out last night around 9pm. Took photos, and did all the usual getting in touch with the right people who will come and look. The roofers are due next week, the plasters some time early October!
I would say, it never rain but it pours! But Mrs L battered me for that quote last night!
Have been driven mad, by Mrs L, cos, the repeated questioning, has been incessant! Gonna have some quiet time this evening. Hope to see some stars later if that thin cloud cover would disappear!
My best wishes to you as always!
Have a beautiful evening!

Having recently acquired a couple of trek tv series dvds. I got myself relaxed enough to start it
in my player.
Obviously looking forward to no adverts whilst have a binge watch of a few episodes till I succumb to retire to my unplastered boudoir.
It didn't work!
I have brought the one down from the crumbly sleeping quarters, and I will set it all up in the morning!
Painting the rails tomorrow. Is there a chance of nothing going wrong?
Is it me?
Well yes it is!
But as you get older, why are these things harder to do?
I do not believe it!
Had enough, done too much as usual!
My best wishes

Aaaaaaagggggghhhnnhn!

Hot yesterday, but there was cloud cover all day. No wind. So fans on all day, and night. Midnight is not so keen on the fans. He spread out and lay flat as a large puddle all day on my holey rubber safety mats in the garden. Must've been cooler somehow.

Wildlife cameras.
Badgers come back when Cat has left...
54secs

Creative is a red rose currently flowering in my front garden. There are two roses on this bush. It is by J and Meg's bench. Merlin sleeps on that bench daytime. The photo was messy because of all the vegetation and twigs around it. No making the background darker worked, it looked even messier. So, to do the rose justice, I lifted that absolutely perfect rose out of the photo and placed it on a blackish background. That is the first time I have done that, and I am not quite sure what I did or how I did it!!!

Midnight is guarding the daytime biscuits for the stray cats. I have started putting less out during the night for the stray cats, because those badgers are determined to get them. But then now I have a cat or two or three in the morning staring at me through my glass door asking for food because there are no cat biscuits on the swing by now...
I like to lie in my bed in a morning waking up slowly, not to leap out of bed to feed cats. Midnight is the exception to this.

Got all the doors open for the cooler morning air. It rained in the night, but my in the bedroom temperature is still 24C.

Time for a cuppa...

Have your best day.
