It's a disgrace what they did to their first nation people in Australia but they tried to fight back.

But in Tasmania they systematically wiped the first nation people out and the poor old Thylacine went the same way.

Perhaps we would have been the same if we had lived then.
Sadly modern humans have not changed and have never been the Stewards that some religions see as man's role.
D.

It is untrue that the First Nation people of Tasmania were wiped out Michael Mansell has been campaigning for the rights of First Nations people in Tasmania for many years.

Thanks John I will recheck my sources.

The story is somewhat ambiguous.
The Britanica article is interesting . The settlers and army did not cover themselves with glory.

They spoke a completely different language to Australian aborigines being separated from Australia by sea level rise by the Bass Straight since the last Ice Age.

There is some dispute between the true stock and claiments.

Their land rights are not respected..
Perhaps there re a few left as mixed race because their women folk suffered rape in the 19 century.

And that is why Mansell has been campaigning he got a law degree so that he could argue their case in court.
Funnily I recently did the DNA test on ancestry dot com amongst the matches I got are a few in Australia who have Aboriginal DNA through inter marriage.

FBG this morning 5.9
12.11 FBG 6.0
Am I whingeing to say that I still have no appetite or energy? Plodding through the days.
MrSlim has finished the deconstruction part of the barn roof repair, but the wet weather means he is not able to start reconstruction yet. He came home yesterday with a dozen eggs and a freshly killed and plucked cockerel as thanks when he refused to take money. It's roasting very gently in the oven now. Dinner for tomorrow.
Meanwhile I need to get on and make the courgette ginger and lemon jam before the courgettes spoil. Hopefully today will be the day.

Morning all from dastardly Debi deluged LA. Good job this didn't happen yesterday. Storm Suella is also brewing - popcorn is fairly low carb. @dunelm thanks for exposing - your art. Enjoy koffy and japes. @gennepher thank you for sharing that amazing creative which I really like. @lindisfel listen to this wise man. @Krystyna23040 those dogs are very wise and your fbg is a-maze-ing. Sunday roast yesterday was a leisurely 4 hrs at the Guinness Arms in Icklingham - just up the road. Sharing roast as per image . Beef and veg good, turkey was breast but hey ho, pork was loin or leg so best avoided in future. The Yorkshire was everything I always detested. If I want cardboard I'll put it on my plate. Next time I'll ask for more green veg in place of that nonsense. However, I'm blessed to be able to make those choices and the place was full for all 4 hours. Stay dry, safe and as sane as these times allow.

The people formerly lived a nomadic existence migrating from inland to the coast and eating kangaroo as diet protein. And fish from the sea in winter. The settlers used the land for farming and killed the native animals off including the rare Thylacine.
The source claims they were transported to a part of colony that would be worthy of some modern politicians. So they were far from ideal colonists.

In NZ there were battles between the Settlers and the Moari. True they had only been there since the 14 century but they had it first.

They like having a bit of fun with you.
We went to big old style sewage farm at Aukland where a group of Moari had been working and were laughing like a drain at us Brits.

We soon found out why , they locked our hire car in the sewage farm and I had to walk to the gatehouse and get the key to unlock the gate.

It was bit worrying when we had to catch our flight the next day, and didn't know if we were going to have hire car to take back.
I will not do that again.

7.0 because it's Monday!
It was raining heavy but the sun was shining when I opened my eyes. Still not got up to full force wind it is a bit blowy, will get most this afternoon. Met office were a little late to announce debi!

Someone once said, charity is an example of a failed society.

Relying on charity is our own example of how we treat each other, and the system of government we have!

Off to do more chores and such!

These colonisers like to spread it around, probably the reason I like fjords and snow from my Scandanavian genes which were often given out by my forebears free gratis, non consensually.

Sihtric and co were certainly not woke. I see you more as a worldly wise warrior priest - Beocca of Lindisfel. :D

Yes, the dogs are really wise. Am really pleased that at last my fbg is settling down to more normal for me. Hopefully it will continue.

I think that double cream raises my fbg if I have too much of it.

It was mentioned in a book I read that this happens to a small percentage of people. I can't remember who the writer was. It wasn't Jason Fung.

So I have been experimenting by lowering my double cream consumption. I was rather hoping that it wouldn't lower my fbs but it rather looks like it might have. Although, of course, it is too early to say for sure.

The Yorkshire pudding sounded rather yuk. even though it looked good in the photo.

That sometimes a nice little let out for those who know they should be helping the poor. I am not saying you do that Lamont.
It particularly applies to Christians and those who see the need.

There have been times when the "done thing" was for those who had, would give to those who had-not, but it probably wasn't all that frequent, if regular (once a year?) and, probably not for extensive periods of time, and probably not reliable, although there are some cultures where it is always the "done thing" to feed those who need, or want, it. But there would always be losers under these systems. The best of all worlds would be if everyone, employed or not, would receive a decent amount to keep body and soul together and a roof over their head. I'm not an economist so I'm not at all sure how that could be accomplished, but there are a lot of clever people around who, surely, could work it out. It just needs the will to do it. That's what's missing in this sad 21st century world.
