What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

He's good at acerbic wit. If you liked that you'd like Marina Hyde. Probably not her best today but spot on about Charles Moore stiffening Trolley's resolve over trying to save Paterson leading to his downfall. If anything she is usually more witty.
Yes that was a good read also.

Thanks @Lamont D
Alternatives?
The opticians will have to change them into something different. Already told them this.
But fingers crossed!

I do birthday presents, but no Xmas presents now. I stopped a few years ago!!!
If a person needs glasses for strong light which is sometimes practice with low sun you need to know their ultra violet characteristic as well.
Some years ago sun lenses closed the eye response to white light and opened up their response to unattenuated UV, thus damaging their eyes. Just be circumspect.

Take your vitamin D3 instead cos you may get a melanoma if you expose a fair complexion, but come what may, the sun does not give any Vit D much in the winter six months and black people and Muslim women virtually get zilch up here any way.

D
Ps I got my Melanoma from exposing myself to the sun in the first half of my life and I had a fair skin and hair but my eyesights still excellent after cataracts were done.

Knew about the vitamin deficiency, but the eye & light waves was new .

Taking more notice now .
Up at eye hospital next month for assessing suitability for an eye op.

So anything like this catches my eye ( ;) :hilarious: )

6.3 this morning.
Bit chilly this morning at -2
I tend to wear sunglasses most of the time as my eyes don’t adjust very well to varying levels of light as for vitamin D I take Advil +D3 daily.

Have to be off soon got to take Judith to work.

Oh as I have Virgin Media basically already digital don’t use land line much anyway.

When at the hospital I worked on phototherapy equipment used in bad skin conditions we had to wear special glasses when calibrating its performance with a meter. I redisigned his old PuvA equipment and kept it going until they got a new one.
What a great guy was the Dermatology consultant, he looked after me when I went into hospital at Carlisle in 1997 with Sepsis.
The PuvB was more potent and UvC particular caused skin cancer not used in treatment.
One other thing at the time was skin creams had a differential response to sun across the spectrum of light.
But the others were dangerous in quantity.

John Crace in the Guardian is worth reading today. There are some NSFW words in there so I won't link the piece. It is dark, cold and UK Plc is heading to the other place (no, not Oxford) in a handcart at breakneck speed so take your laughs where you can. No mention of Jimmy Dimly and his slurry misspeak in this one.

@ianpspurs could you pm
me the link as I couldn't find it.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those sensible enough to wear solar heated socks.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.3 and also my regular Wednesday covid test was -ve, science type of shorthand for negative.

In a few minutes I must stand in the indoor rain cabinet, but first me, me’s and myself must make Mrs J’s morning tea. This act almost guarantee's my survival, whoops must go and perform magic in the kitchen…….

Good morning everyone on what looks like Woeful Wednesday here in the dark and dangerous north. A delicious 5.2 this am. We had a crèche going on for a while yesterday. The Girl In The Bubble spent the day. How you manage to not be quite fit for school and at the same time charge around playing dinosaurs I have no idea. She has been seasonally ill for a week now but is back in school today. Mrs Miggins will be collecting her at the appointed time. Art bit, will add some colour later today. Hope you have a splendid mid week day of fun and japes. I shall now make some late start Koffy and then go and collect my prescriptions (just had a msg that they are ready).

0150 today: BG 11.3. Down to 8.9 by 0600.

Em arrived at 0700 today - Alistair's start time was 0730. She will be back after school and will be staying overnight. Alistair has accepted another task to add to all the rest that he is doing at the moment. DIL goes to Bingo every week to support a friend who enjoys the opportunity to get out but doesn't feel able to go on her own. DIL, of course, isn't there this week so the friend can't go unless Alistair takes over the support role. If she doesn't keep going every week, she won't be able to go to the Christmas Bingo so Alistair, on top of everything else, is going to Bingo (which he hates) this evening and won't be back until after Em's bed time. He spreads himself too thinly and will have to be careful not to damage his own health as a result.

Haven't heard yet whether DIL actually was allocated a bed at the QE hospital.

Monday managed to see the doctor. Blood test, urine test and prescribed vitamin D. It's a soluble pill, to take once a month for the rest of my life! Standard
Bone health treatment for women over a certain age apparently. Handed over my Carte Vitale and a Muteulle certificate. The pharmacist updated my details to include the Muteulle, so nothing to pay. The Carte Vitale pays 80% of the charge. The Muteulle is a top up to 100%.
Yesterday went to get the blood and urine tests done. Secretary at the lab declared either my Muteulle or Carte Vitale number was not correct or did not match, so I had to pay. €46.95 . Did get form to claim it back, but both of us confused as to why one day it worked the next it doesn't. More beaurocracy for MrSlim to sort out.

Morning all from a sunny but cold L.A. Fbg was 4.2 at 5.22 then 4.5 at 7.15. Now come months of being cold, hungry, tired and wearing more layers than one of those ludicrous, inedible giant show onions. Please don't tell me how wonderful winter keto/lc food is (especially don't ever suggest Diet Dr to me) - I've had 8 years of it. Sadly, I have tried some of those, to me, batpooh crazy ideas but obviously YMMV. Eat to your meter is wonderful but it has to pass the gag reflex test. Anyhow, we ventured into Cambs - well Ely area - picked up Christmas order form from the aspirational butcher, fishmonger and cheese purveyor (JKP wants 3 hampers -1 of each and I want the Octopus) collected the Little Guy and Big sister but took them home as dad's partner was off work. This evening JKP is going to see #1 grandson perform with G4 in Ely Cathedral. I'm going to see his end of term stage school concert in Newmarket on Friday. @dunelm thanks for sharing the art. @gennepher take it easy today as much as possible. Thanks for sharing the wonderful Kaleidoscope. @Krystyna23040 I've pm'd the link. @SlimLizzy hug for all the medical and paperwork issues. #2 son's in laws, retired medical consultants, live in France, have properties in England, but will only have treatment in France. Is it that good - our relatives also say it is way ahead of the NHS? Despite all that enjoy your day.

Strikingly blue with lots of enhanced patterns.

6.6 this Teutonic Terrible Trolling Tuesday.
It's not cold!
It is freezing!
Just looked at thermometer in garden, -2. Mid morning.
Thought it was supposed to be sunny?

Quiet day of usual chores. No shopping.

Even though blonde and blue eyed, when I had hair on top, my skin is olive and I tan very quickly with a fair amount of sunlight. I have never used creams or took precautions as such, except those that I know won't burn my skin, I know when enough is enough and I will sit in shade rather than direct sunlight anyway.
I do go a deep colour, in late summer. I get a lot of questions about sunbeds, and have I been abroad etc.?
Some people go red, I go brown.
And when I do go the med, my body adapts very quickly to the heat and sun. As long as I behave and go easy with the heat I can and have been out all day.
It may catch up with me.

I have asked different GP's about this a few times.
Have even asked if I have S.A.D?
Always no!
I pleaded with one or two that I needed med sun to help my mood in the cold months?
No!
Take some vitamin b.
Do I need to? I ask.
No.
Why? I enquire.
To boost my mood.
But I don't need it. I reply.

And so on.

Must get on, might get some leaves picked up.

Kitchen work first.

@Annb I forgot to say hug for Alistair taking on so much which must stress you as his mum. I do pray that DIL's op goes ahead and is a success and have you had any luck with the wheelchair bid? Whilst spending time with Em is a blessing it must be tiring. Thoughts and prayers with you - love has some sharp edges.

France - beaurocracy personified. Hope the Carte Vitale number is sorted out - sounds like finger trouble somewhere.
