Your view on your creatives sounds like my view on shots I hit at cricket - others thought they were great but nearly 50 years on I'm still unhappy. The essays in Malcolm Guite’s book are brilliant - not only linking these poems but bringing in Leonard Cohen and Philip Larkin (who is summarily debunked). December 2nd poem; Today’s poem. Those older than me may have a better perspective on whether

The Leornard Cohen link is the line there’s a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in. Very dark and dismal here today so those cracks are welcome. Talking of which a late Happy Hanukkah! May your candles burn bright this season.

That mistrust of all media suits a certain type of leader - left and right - just fine. That has been the tactic of Trump/Putin/Modhi/Stalin/Mao et al. Their USP is you can't trust the media - especially the unfavorable outlets or experts.- trust me. What the COVID inquiry has exposed is the sceptical media, experts and our own eyes were right all along. The take no notice of that lot approach was a big win for Johnsonian/Trumpian serial mendacity and misrule. I know you're better than that and do your own proper research and thinking.

My 'favourite' neighbour next door, Mr Insensitive Christmas Lights neighbour, who has been the bane of my life with his all singing, all dancing, visual migraine inducing Christmas Lights these last 20 years, the wind has just torn the Christmas lights off his gutters on to the roof, and on to the ground. They are still flashing away. His cars are not there tonight, so I gave myself the delight of doing a little victory dance in my driveway...but I totally forgot about his security camera...

Was a bit cold in the front bedroom the last two nights , the radiator wouldn't come on I had to sort it tonight else it wouldn't get fixed by itself.

So I shelved all my theories and found the regulator shaft was firmly stuck in the shut off position in the regulator valve
It was seized in. So I just grabbed the shaft with a set of parallel grips and worked it free and it sprung out.
The boss said I had earned my pocket money tonight.

Stormy and foul weather yesterday. The ravens were being buffeted across the sky. The little birds closer to the ground fared better in that wind, and a whole variety of them were feeding in the relative shelter of my garden. I went out to put some night food for all the soggy nighttime beasties. I do feel sorry for them this wet weather. So on the ground were peanuts, cat biscuits my strays won't eat because they like the more expensive food Midnight has (yes they come in through the bungalow in the night to get Midnight's food - how on earth do they pass that message to each other the precise instructions where the better food is?), and I had some stale bread which I was going to put in the freezer to make toast with but I have some peanut butter that I really don't like so I made some peanut butter sarnies for them. No food is thrown away here.

Wildlife nighttime cameras
Boy Badger gets on swing twice then has a good old scratch.
Both Boy Badger (and previously Pa Badger) covet that spot at that end of the swing where both cats Jade and Midnight sit, and sit there and have a good old scratch and groom. I don't get it, why do the Badgers want what the cats have?

Another smashing piece of brush pen artwork. I do like this traditional form of Chinese artwork. Pity that the wind didn’t blow those lights clean away - you need to tie a ribbon to a fence or tree and invoke the winds

Still not finished writing the few cards I wanted to send - but have realised why I am struggling with what seems a simple task. It's the emotional impact of estrangement. Aunts address is still in my book, but neither she nor MrSlim will budge so am unlikely to ever see her again. Should I send a card? If so what can I write in it? Pretend all is well? Beg forgiveness for something we didn't do? MrSlim will never forgive being accused of manipulation and stealing, she will not look for the missing treasures because they have been stolen. Total impasse. This estrangement gives MrSlim and I even fewer reasons to visit UK.
Also realised I don't have current address for two of my sons. Although son2 moved only recently. Son1, rarely responds to messages or phone calls. I have no idea where he is living, or even if he has an address, because in the summer he was living in a van and moving about all over the country.
So today screwing myself up to bypass these issues and write remaining half dozen cards.
MrSlim was pressing on with his work yesterday, despite the back problems. He is currently restoring a pair of iron gates to replace the rotting wood set we have at present. I think he has overdone it because this morning he said he is not fit enough to carry on today.
As for me I have taken the final antibiotic pill of my ten day course. In theory I should be totally recovered and raring to go, but am still lethargic and lacking in energy or motivation.
