What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

@ANTJE, lovely to hear that you had a happy birthday! I've only just read it too so belated birthday greetings too. Morning all!. No sleep @LivingLightly, the chemist didn't have the right cream so it itched crazily all night. Forgot to get anything out of the freezer for lunch so will have a make-shift day. Probably scrambled eggs with peppers, make some soup with the veg I have left. I'm not really hungry which is a bonus. I also have some ham, cheese and smoked salmon, so I won't starve! Hope everyone has a good day.

Another Happy Birthday Antje77, just a bit late but makes for a longer birthday!

Yesterday brunch was a piece of British Brie. Dinner, preceded by a few nuts (very much enjoyed and portion controlled by husband) and leftover lamb cooked as a casserole with red cabbage, a pepper, one tomato, spring onions, courgettes, vegetable stock, cider vinegar, and leftover juices from the roast joint. Not quite the authentic recipe but better for T2.

Breakfast was 2 RyVita and some apple smoked cheddar. I asked Neil to see what "different" cheeses were available and he came back with that. Very creamy but not too sure about the smokiness. I only ever buy smoked haddock, mackerel or salmon because I'm not keen on smokey flavours. But it's certainly a very nice cheddar. That was because I was going out (legs bandaging day) and needed to have something in a hurry because I'd slept in.

2nd meal will be lamb tagine.

Must also cook the duck breast that's sitting in the fridge. Then I can use it in a salad.

Still some of the bigos left, but will put that in the freezer for use next week.

Hi all, another low carb day today, then went to the local tip and on to a garden centre for some new houseplants.

2 Hard boiled eggs
2 small slices home made low carb bread
butter
pea shoots

lamb leg steak
mashed swede
2 slices crown prince squash
pork puffs with full fat soft cheese

I woke up very early (5am, reminds me of my commuting days!) and decided not to try to get back to sleep, so I watched the dawn and listened to the dawn chorus from my east facing bedroom window, which is when I decided I needed houseplants again. I can look after them now I have time at home!

Small kefir and supplements mid morning
Lunchtime small portions of kimchi and sauerkraut with some celery then a few LC seeded crackers and small bits of three different cheeses - bleu d'affinois, Shropshire blue and comte then last of hm cooked rhubarb and hm yogurts
Dinner hm chilli and LC garlic bread followed by hm LC chocolate bun and decaffeinated coffee.
Medical centre rang today to rearrange my diabetic review next Monday from a 9.20am slot to 12 noon. Never had a fasting lipid panel test that late. As fasting should be water only for 12 to 14 hours I'll probably have to add in an extra snack on Sunday evening maybe treat myself to something I normally restrict like nuts.(low carb but difficult for me to eat small portion) I have no problem 're food fasting to 12 as do it often it's the water only problem as usually leave my coffee brewing while go for morning blood draws! I have high ldl and know that fasting over 14 hours can cause a temporary rise as the body is being given energy from its own fat stores so being careful.

Aargh!

Thursday 29 February - bed 7.8 FBG 7.9 I did get to Aqua today - just! Grandson's schooling is still not resolved properly.

Saturday 2 March - bed 7.4 FBG 7.7. The stresses of the week obviously caught up with me as I slept until 8.45am. Very unusual for me. Hubby was heading to the football, so I had him to transport there and back. Shopping in between.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with egg mayo. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing - driving duties and shopping.

D. Cold cuts - ox tongue, roast pork, ham, corned beef, pork & egg. Coleslaw, veggie salad.

Sunday 3 March - bed 7.5 FBG 7.7 Swimming lesson day. Grandson was having a hyper day at swimming, and the laps were not tiring him!

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with ox tongue and egg mayo. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing

D. Campari and soda. I roasted a lump of sirloin. Lovely and rare, and I forgot to photograph it. Had it with green beans, mushrooms, GF Yorkshire pudding, horseradish. Halo Top with raspberries.

I need to stop using GF in the car. My car reads text messages to me, and a message I did regarding grandson's roll was read out as a "six inch girlfriend with ham and cucumber" to much hilarity!

No sleep @LivingLightly, the chemist didn't have the right cream so it itched crazily all night.
What a letdown @RosemaryJackson. Surely the pharmacist could have suggested an alternative to tide you over. (Old fashioned calamine lotion would have been better than nothing). I do hope your prescription was ready for collection today.

Wishing you a decent night's rest tonight. You need your beauty sleep!

Evening @PenguinMum. I love spiders too. It's amazing how fast they can scuttle, but only for short distances. If your resident spider darts across the room and then stops in its tracks, it's not sizing you up. It's simply run out of puff!
They're not! I know they are watching me ready to pounce
LOL Don't know how this notion took hold @maglil55, but it's a common fear. In reality it's unfounded.

The UK's Common House Spider can scuttle over short distances but is unable to jump, let alone pounce and is harmless.

Of course, different makes of spider are sometimes seen indoors, mostly accidental visitors which would rather be outside. None of our native species would do you a mischief.

Mind you, if I lived near a port, I'd err on the side of caution. Alien species have been known to hitch a ride on commercial shipping and arrive here on cargo

I hate spiders too, even though I specifically chose to do a school project on them, it didn't help & a wonder that I actually cut some photos out for it. Last house I had a velux in the bedroom, couldn't open it, as there were little black & white jumping spiders around on the roof that had made it in on occasion, along with gurt big'uns. Used to go chestnutting to gather & put in the corners of the rooms, a deterrent apparently, not great, but maybe there would have been many more without. The mice liked them!! Anyway, I now live in a flat, so I'm hoping spiders get too fatigued to climb up this far. :woot:

Dinner was stuffed mushrooms followed by some cheese.

B: ff greek with 3 brazils and chia seeds
Lovely dog walk
L: cheeses and gammon
afternoon , trip to cinema to see Wicked Little Letters. Very good indeed
D: beefburger with cheese, peas and Teaspoon each of 4 "dips"
2 glasses red wine.
Later 3 brazil nuts and 2 squares dark chocolate (70%)

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and another carb killa bar.
Dinner, very late following a trip to the theatre to see a comedian. I had a small all day breakfast, don’t panic I didn’t eat any beans and had six small chips which I know I can tolerate occasionally!

yum, stuffed mushrooms!

I prefer them to mice! spiders not mushrooms, although I think mice are precious, just not in the house, (unless pets.)

Had a few lockdown mice come in the last couple of years in a row, and had a few 3am stake-outs. I caught a few and let them go over the river, which is probably not as humane as I'd like to think as probably became dinner for something else very quickly, yet I guess it wasn't me directly landing the blow, so felt better about it. They seem to have stopped visiting after I went around sealing a few hidden gaps when the gas pipes were updated, I didn't know there was a hole to the crawlspace behind the meter. I think they used to come wandering over from the immediate neighbours now and then and not find any food laying around and go back, used to have some talc in a corner to monitor if they revisited. Also, I "borrowed" another neighbours cat one day to have a wander around the house and leave some scent, not that I had a say in the matter the cheeky beggar came through the kitchen window, waltzed right into the front room and sat on the table by the television watching the birds on springwatch. So I thoroughly took advantage of the situation and any subsequent visits.

Finished the bacon and put some peashoots and cheese with, random I know, using up stuff.

Yoghurt with toasted coconut and 4 raspberries

I'm done for the day.
