What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Could the Bamburgh inspiration be Uther/The Last Kingdom? Turnips? never mix your Baldrick's with your Uther's and anyhow which part of the country do you self identify with, that which calls swede/rutabaga turnip or the one which calls a turnip a turnip?
Or a swede?

Good that you had the time and means to create and share something in the midst of techageddon. Let's hope a new device of some kind can be found to help you. Are Apple devices essential for some things e.g. cochlear processor? I hope the garden gave you peace. Take care.
Yes Apple is recommended for the cochlear sound processor stuff @ianpspurs Cochlear worked in conjunction with Apple over this.
Pixel can also be compatible, but not my pixel phone it is a too early a model. It needs a later model. None of the other makes of phones are compatible to use in conjunction with the cochlear processor... they need certain software already installed within the phone, but the other makes of phones don't have that.

I am dependent on an appropriate device to be able to listen to YouTube, films et cetera so I can stream the voice, the noise, the music straight through to my processor. The sound from any device is meaningless to me without this streaming for which I need either Apple or Pixel.....

So where do I go from here? My pixel phone is worn out too, the battery runs down after a couple of hours, and as it is an old pixel model, it's not supported anymore. It does not last the day if I go out and I have to carry a spare battery charger.

I am researching options at the moment, but I didn't expect them all going together, one never does. So this might be an either/or option, but currently, I think the phone is winning... I need to check on the cochlear site as to which model of Pixel is compatible and then find a plan for my needs....

Yes thank you, the garden gave me peace, I sat on the swing for awhile...

enjoy Sherringham Park and hold off on the gloves, this part of the Exotic (yeah, right) East will/may see 21°C this week.
I did get my winter coat out and winter gloves. Unwisely, because we went deep into the woodland where the hills are really steep and it is sheltered from the wind and I was so hot.

When we went to BrierleyForest Park though it was sunny it was quite cold and my hands were freezing so I have bought some new gloves and will wear them when going out from now on.
My winter gloves have extra padding on the fingers - which is wonderful when it is cold.

While we were walking we were too hot but when we stopped for coffee at the cafe (where the seating is outside) I was really pleased I had warm coat and gloves.

Nighttime wildlife videos
Badger investigating the swing
I had mislaid my phone, and thought I had left it on the swing, and so, around 12 midnight, I went out with a torch. But the badger had already messed up the swing and I was convinced he had taken my phone to his den and was boasting to all the other badgers about his latest acquisition...
But when I got back in bed, I found my phone between the blankets.... This is Boy Badger, born 2023.
44 secs

I was up half the night trying to get this downloaded because the problems with Apple and the iPad mini etc etc

This morning even more problems with the iPad mini that crashed. I won't bore you with it all but Bluetooth now does not work at all, and as well as not being able to connect anything up to the Bluetooth like my external keyboard, the main thing is I am unable to connect up with the remote on the iPad mini that controls my cochclear implant and processor, and controls volume, base, treble etc and the most important is the sensitivity control and the directional control of the processor.

I cannot use my cochlear sound/hearing processor without this remote control which is within the iPad mini. So to use what I think is an incorrect term nowadays, I am deaf as a doorpost without this integral remote for my cochlear processor within the iPad mini.

And this iPad mini is one piece of useless junk. I should have abandoned it at the beginning of the week. And not tried so hard to get it going again. But there again if I had taken it for someone else to reinstall, I would have paid that money for nothing. There was an Apple update on it last night to the latest software, and it is that which has messed it up further and wrecked it. Many of the internal things now within the iPad mini settings do not work since the update.

Yes the iPad mini is old and it is not supported anymore by Apple because of its age but this is absolutely ridiculous considering what it cost in the first place...

When I get something to replace it, I will help it along in its death throes...

Creative... My daughter at her end in Australia was having problems at her end connecting up with me this morning. Skype does not work on her new laptop. So we tried Zoom. But the captions were bang in the middle of the screen rolling up right over her face and I couldn't see her speaking... abandoned that... Then I'm trying to download Microsoft teams for us to try that....

Finally we are up and running. And Microsoft teams has a very sensible caption that is just at the bottom the screen, so one line then it went off, then one line and then it went off.

I hate with a passion the inordinate amount of time inefficient technology has taken this week in wasting my time... and is not supporting me...

So what does the above have to do with the Creative? I was doodling in my sketchbook while I was waiting for my daughter to sort out some stuff at her end.

So Creative is a doodle ..

I am going in the garden now for some fresh air, you enjoy your day...

You have had a nightmare week @gennepher but really good that you found your phone.

Gotta love a bit of swede, Caroline. Where it began, I can't begin to know (mashed with some butter and carrot - not keen on pepper).it is so good, so good. Turnip Caroline sounds so wrong, so wrong :D
so good, so good!
so wrong.
so so wrong!
it's a yuk for me!
whatever it is called, so bland, paper tastes better.

song is synonymous with our Wembley win to get back in league.
And before that, when over a decade ago my lot staved off relegation and a phone video went viral.

I have always adored the Beach Boys tune of 'Oh Caroline No'.

Morning all from a dull, damp and too cool, Hive triggering, L.A. where my fbg is another of those known unknowns. Yesterday was a very obvious gift from God (food, family, tasks achieved) but one where my body was keen to “keep me grounded" by reminding me that as the Psalmist says, we shall all wear out like a garment. No amount of carb counting, gut healthy food or steps will solve that. I’m not complaining, just putting things in context and maybe sharing my guilt over where my treasure may be after a homily yesterday. It also doesn't mean that while I/we are wearing out we don't do our due diligence to find out how to care for these tents* we have been so lovingly and graciously gifted or care for those of others. @gennepher I hope you make progress on finding a new tech solution and generally ordering your environment as you need and want. Everyone else, look after that tent in which you live and those of your loved ones and friends where appropriate. Not every day can be a sweet Caroline day, some days are more pork chop days :playful:
  • Not original, see 2 Corinthians 5:1-8 or not but it is rude not to acknowledge the source

Good wet Morening Ladies and Gentlemen. In my not so humble opinion, very morning is a good one.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.5, what they are now will remain a mystery and I don’t care. Insulin has been administered and I have yet to take my morning medication. Only my teeth to clean and floss, I have already stood in the indoor rain cabinet also but not at the same time completed 45 minutes plinky plonky practice.
Yes it time for my early morning nap.

@gennepher your perseverance is an example to me, me’s and myself and @jjraak your post on this subject made both Mrs J and myself laugh.

On days like today I strangely don’t miss riding my motorcycle or going for a run.
Stay safe all, stay dry and something or other….

Fox & Badgers
Foxy Loxy and Ma & Pa Badger
48secs

There is also Skinny Fox, from last year, who I suspect is Foxy Loxy's brother. He has filled out and looks good this year, but I have not included him in the video clips because he has developed mange again. Just in his tail so far (sad because he had a lovely bushy tail a couple of months ago). It is upsetting to see. But otherwise he is healthier than last year. Anyway I have obtained some meds for him from a fox society. So, he is getting a honey sandwich nightly...
But I will include little peeks of his head and shoulders in the bushes...

Creative is one I did awhile ago, on crinkled paper....

It's nice enough outside, that is it is not raining!!! Temp 8C, just a breeze so not cold...

Will go out and sit on the swing for a bit...

Have a good day.

6.3 at 06.00 today.

Cold and wet here but I don't need to poke my nose outside the door. Lots to do inside - loads of laundry done in the last couple of days and it all has to be folded and put away. That'll take me most of the day, or maybe carry over into tomorrow.

Had a chat on the phone with my brother yesterday and we both came to the conclusion that, despite the things that my recent tests have found wrong, it really isn't anything to worry about. At my age, deterioration is to be expected and there's not that much time left for things to get all that much worse. Kidneys can't be expected to work perfectly now and all measurements are relative anyway. Good to have some explanation of why I am the way I am - always knew I was awkward anyway but good to know it's a bit more than that and not my imagination.

Just had a phone call from the surgery saying that the GP wants me to up my Levothyroxine by 50%. Maybe that will make a small change in my lethargy.

Thank you for sharing the creative and story of how you are caring for that fox. How do you ensure he gets the honey sandwich, hand feed him? 8C would be much too cold for me to sit outside no matter how many layers I had - although we do have an (unused) outdoor wood burner and KD logs. You must be one tough lady. Eight years ago today it was sunny and this was how JKP , #3 son and I spent much of the day - back in The Old Country obviously. There are 2 videos to show but the journey from JKP's facebook to google photos to here is convoluted and as she uses iPad and I refuse to touch anything Apple (I ideally avoid facebook, I don't/won't have an account, this is probably too much "social" for me to be comfortable) life is complex. The cider turned out a tad strong for some but since I don't like cider and was LC by then anyhow I know not.

I call this weather mild ..as long as I don't get wet, I don't need many clothes on even in winter. I hate being bundled up with clothes @ianpspurs

No I don't hand feed that fox, but he will be one of the first to enter the garden after dark. The badgers don't eat the honey sandwich (but they would if it was peanut butter). Generally I only have 2 foxes enter the garden, Foxy Loxy and Skinny Fox. I look at the SD cards, and Foxy Loxy doesn't touch the sandwiches, so Skinny Fox seems to eat them all.

It is much earlier in the year when there are mating calls and so on, that I get more badgers and foxes in the garden, and then it more or less settles to the regulars again.

I like cider! But not had any for many years. Great photos!

Thanks for the photo compliments which I'll pass on to JKP since I don't really do photos. Mild starts around at least 22C for me. I don't like being bundled up but dislike cold much more. Modern lightweight clothing, layering, beats the old heavy and basically useless clothing imho. Gens Millennials through to Alpha really don't know how rubbish much of life - housing, heating, diet, transport, entertainment, clothing, much music - was. Though I wouldn't swap my schooling, Uni and work life for theirs so swings and roundabouts.
