What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Winter wonderland outside my bedroom window. No foxes or badgers out so far tonight...

We have had intermittent snow all through the night it did stick to the grass and the roofs. @gennepher. But has mostly gone now. Temperature at noon on my thermometer in back garden -1 degrees.
not spending any time at all in the garden, however had to put our bins out and I have noticed that there is peeking through some spring bulbs.
@LivingLightly the photographs I posted showed the large plants in bloom, sadly the flowers have now all gone.
do I cut the stems right down?
it is my first summer growing them.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen. Yes it is cold and for some snowy, but it is another day on our journey through the universe.

Blood sugars this morning were 7.4 and I know why.

Yesterday’s blood test went well all I have to do is await the result. Also yesterday’s lasering of my eye has restored my vision in that eye, such luxury to have clear vision again, I’m almost tempted to go for a ride on my motorcycle just to celebrate.
The words slightly corrupted of a song “ Slipping down slowly, slipping down slightly, think I’ll fall off again “ spring to mind.

Stay safe, stay warm all.
good thing it was a laser rather than a phaser!
good viewing.
The saying.........Fall seven times, Get up 8. Applies I think.
Mrs L had another late night sport.
who can smash the most crockery in five minutes?
of course Mrs L won.
mind you I did let her.

Great niece visited last night and it's a boy!
And the due date is our anniversary.

oh yeah, nearly forgot, a nasty 7 again.
Have a very merry Christmas time, you lot.
Do hope you have written to santa.
Mrs L is concerned about the turkey shortage, and our bank balance to pay for everyone's presents.
I'm not!

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.......
As my team play in all white. This is the top of my Christmas wish list.....
But other than that, a nice piece of gadgetry, will do nicely.

What is your most selfish wish for chrimbo? No BS, niceties please...

My merriest, chrimboist, hopefully bestest wishes.

Merry Christmas from Mrs L.....

Awoke to fbs of 7.2 and a view of our first snow of the year. We had arranged to meet our past neighbours for lunch and a catch up at a venue up in the hills but had to cancel due to the inclement weather.Stay safe and warm folks.IMG_20241119_083325377~3.jpg

We still have a lot of snow here, it is not fit to go out driving. The people I saw this morning trying to get their cars up and running to go to work gave up and went back indoors.

The main road that is the steep hill has not been gritted. Consequently no buses are running in this area.

I have a diabetic retinopathy appointment in the morning. But if it freezes over tonight I won't be going for it, I'm not risking that steep hill. I had one scary slide down it in the car many many years ago and I vowed never ever again.... I did arrive safely to the bottom of hill but other people did not...

I cleared the car mostly of snow today, and had the engine running for 15 minutes...

I spoke to a neighbour who thinks it won't drop below zero tonight but might be 1C

Met office says -4 C tonight.

My road is currently is like a deep slush puppie drink...

It is not just the diabetic retinopathy appointment. I have five other things I need to do.

Thank you@jjraak. It made sense to cancel. Below freezing temperatures as well as traffic problems made it an easy decision. We will just have to re-arrange at a more suitable time. A day to stay indoors if able to. Still minus 2 this evening. Brrr! Stay safe and keep warm. :)

@dunelm thank you for sharing another of the wonderful red roof pieces, I had to look hard for the red in that one. I hope the free at the point of need went well. @gennepher thanks for the photos and video and really good idea not to drive today. I hope tomorrow is better for driving. @alf_Josiah good news on the laser surgery. @JohnEGreen sorry to hear about the battery problem and sleep disruption, hope all is working fine now. @dogslife thank you for sharing the photo, shame about the meet up but the right decision.

It is not just the diabetic retinopathy appointment. I have five other things I need to do.
I think that your eye appointment can wait for a proper thaw, or the triggers do get through. I did get a warning that the A55 was closed in places. Some parts of the motorway around her during the night was limited speeds and down to one lane. My garden thermometer says it is -2 fifteen minutes ago.
stay warm and safe.
have a look first thing if it has thawed.

I too have to go out first thing, boots on, big cost and thermals I think.

Yes not the weather to go out in if it can be avoided 0 degrees here and predicted to drop to -2 degrees tonight.

My tip of a backyard this morning.

How do you hold your world famous garden partys?
The lords and ladies will be quite upset!
Batteries Not Included.
hope you can stay safe and warm mate.
hope your carriage is safely tucked up.

Not very deep snow here, but very cold so that people and vehicles are slip-sliding all over the place on the ice.

BG has been OK for most of the day but a bit up this evening. Maybe something to do with this odd cold/infection I've had for what seems like ages now. The coughing and runny nose part subsided days ago, but my throat was sore and my voice several octaves lower than usual. Now my throat seems to be recovering but my lungs are very sore. Maybe some kind of secondary infection. Paracetamol helps a bit but I suspect tonight will not be a comfortable one. Still, maybe it's just working its way through my system and will be gone soon.

Hoping for a higher temperature tomorrow and better road conditions. I managed to get a podiatry appointment (rare as hen's teeth here) for tomorrow but will have to cancel if the roads are bad.

Well, you say that, but the snow even makes the bins look a little magical .

Disney could make something of that, I'm sure .

Looked a bit better before but is now a work in progress dice the decking was built every thing else in stacked on the one side there’s a bike shed to be put up to house Keiran’s and Melody’s bike a shelter for my scooter to be erected and the back yard is about the size of a postage stamp.

It is 1C here. In the bewitching hour.. Just gone out to look. No worse than it was earlier. No more snow. But probably black ice. Current plan is to wait for the rat run to finish...they come over through the lane from A55.. they underestimate the conditions on that steep hill, and they are the ones that have meetings with trees and brick walls and land in people's front gardens...

Hopefully they might make the road more possible as regards snow and ice....

I have an appointment with st Paul's in Liverpool in December and I really need results of this retinopathy appointment to take there....

I will have a look out in the morning and nobody's gone to work again and I look at the road and say heck no then I'm not going. I will also then cancel st pauls until next year...

I hope you manage to get out safely in the morning @Lamont D Be careful...

That looks brilliant @JohnEGreen

Better the size of a postage stamp than the forest I have....

And it's raining in the Caribbean......

'And it seems, it's raining all over the world....'

I'm certain that is a lyric in a song, itching at the back of my noggin.
There's a kind of hush all over the world .... springs to mind @Lamont D. Could that be the song you were thinking of I wonder?

Tuesday's FBG, 4.5 mmol/l on waking at 6.00 am.

Yesterday I wondered if I had overdone it with the dog walk, but this morning I was able to teach without my stick and my ankle was absolutely fine. Am still wearing the ankle support of course.

It is such a fine line between getting it right and overdoing it. Fingers crossed that I stay sensible (for once)
Yes @Krystyna23040. We're advised to keep sprained limbs rested, but mobile. That seems a bit of a contradiction in terms and, in any case, it's a difficult balance to achieve!

I agree - it is a difficult balance to achieve. Rest too much and you slow down the healing. Overdo it and you slow down the healing.
