What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all from a mid-range frosty start to Thursday in L.A. We're not going out - slight confusion over the day for my date with destiny (no, not this guy who is a top,top bloke) that's tomorrow. Fbg is a known unknown unlike y'all - @JohnEGreen hug for your low level. We are all different - I'd function perfectly well there and have no idea anything was amiss - (Denis was a top, top batsman) @gennepher hug for the long, cold wait but thanks for the badger porn video and creative. @dunelm thank you for another splendid red roof special. I refer yourself and @gennepher to my earlier post. @Annb safe journeys to you, DIL and Alistair on his round. I hope leg day goes smoothly. @Krystyna23040 Mr K just keeps setting the bar higher, very Mondo Duplantis. For some reason best known to the nutritional data analysis on my app, liver -(that's ok) and bacon (not ok but at least not the smoked abomination) leeks not onions, lower carb, (minimal flour for dredging) is on the menu today: is it edible by humans without mashed potato?. These things are sent try us but JKP and MIL will enjoy replaying old hits. Wreath installed on our front door so folk here can play guess the nationality. Took in a parcel for a neighbour yesterday - American - wonderful first name, Erlanda, so much more exotic than Hilda. Y'all stay warm, safe and avoid slippery slopes. A Sporty Spice post today.
Thanks Ian....

Hug for the tummy and hips suffering from yesterday yest still showing such concern for those stray cats. Thank you for sharing the video and creative. If I'm honest I don't "understand" it any more than the duct taped banana but I'm open to learning from others. Just not paying millions for a duct taped banana.
Thank you Ian for the hug...

Didn't say I didn't like the creative so please, please don't take my comment on not understanding it the wrong way. I don't understand much of the C21st, Breckland, cup cakes, how anyone can eat most Keto recipes or why folk singers stick a finger in one ear - among so much else.

You do not have to understand the painting. It is paint and water on a piece of card doing its own thing, apart from me applying it....
Different papers react to different paints and water, and I do not know how it is going to turn out.
It is satisfying for the painter to do this....
Or at least it is satisfying for me....

I'm so pleased the process is satisfying for you. I really struggle with the idea I don't need to understand anything, can't? that's ok, don't need to? does not compute. Then I realise so much of my faith is a great mystery and only by faith am I justified through grace..... lest any man should boast. Talking of which, wonderful of you to drop in @lindisfel I hope you and Marjorie are keeping warm and well. Peace be with you.

Ours did as well. That's what put me off school uniforms for life - I always had to have 2nd hand uniforms because new, they were too costly for my parents. The common folk were not expected to be able to get into the grammar school (and most didn't) so no allowance was made for their lack of funds. They would have refused me as well but I got the top mark in the county in the 11+ so they had to take me. I hated it at that school - and they didn't like me very much either.
Very similar to my story, and my mum had to go into debt for my first year uniform, because of the amount of unique clothing and equipment. It was ridiculous. I couldn't play cricket because of my lack of proper clothing 'whites' to play. I was the only pupil in my junior school to pass 'enough' to get a grammar school place.
It was all graded. And unsurprisingly, the more affluent junior schools, were represented more favourably.

Think I saw something similar in (insert grocer/baker of choice) once and long before Tracey, University halls of residence had hundreds of unmade beds. Art is obviously all around us. :playful:
So, is some horrific desires out there.
Only humanity can spoil nature's beauty...

No FBG today for a couple of reasons.
My daughter was in a crash, not her fault!
So after all what entails with that, daughter and #5 having been checked by the hospital as ok.
And the insurance was good and everything should go ok.
I am now catching up with everything.
Haven't eaten, made sure Mrs L is ok.
Not a good day all round.
It is freezing cold and had rain, sleet and snow, with a northerly breeze.

Hope you lot have a better day than I have.
Best wishes.

Never good to be involved in an accident but if it has to happen at least being cleared as OK by the hospital and insurance being good over things is as good as it gets. You take care of yourself now, eat drink and if not be merry be nourished and ready to go again tomorrow.

Glad daughter and #5 are all okay
And that the insurance company was okay and should go smoothly.
Hugs for you @Lamont D for the shock of it all.
Make sure you eat now x

Have made sure my daughter has settled. I have to keep telling her that she is doing everything she should do.
It is always the delayed shock, like me it's much later when it hits, our instincts are to not just let the incident get to us. We both are very good in these circumstances.
We don't panic.
I have seen too much, not to be that way.
I may tut and curse (oh yeah) fraggendicdasterdly, but it was drummed into me, to act.
Thanks for the hugs @gennepher.
I do appreciate the support.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen. Yes it is cold and for some snowy, but it is another day on our journey through the universe.

Blood sugars this morning were 7.4 and I know why.

Yesterday’s blood test went well all I have to do is await the result. Also yesterday’s lasering of my eye has restored my vision in that eye, such luxury to have clear vision again, I’m almost tempted to go for a ride on my motorcycle just to celebrate.
The words slightly corrupted of a song “ Slipping down slowly, slipping down slightly, think I’ll fall off again “ spring to mind.

Stay safe, stay warm all.
A rude & rather late reply @alf_Josiah .

Humblest of apologies, just got tangled up with 'life'.

Absolutely marvellous news regarding the lasering.

Now you'll be all lee majors , spotting speed cams & 'smidsys' from miles away .

Brilliant stuff , so pleased for you .

Omg @Lamont D .

What an awful moment for her & #5

But as others suggest could have been worse .

They say any accident you walk away from is a good one.

Hope they both have no lasting effects & the shock and adrenaline settles down quickly for her .

Far too easy to repeatedly go over all the 'what ifs' at times like this .

Good for offering such great support , do her good to know she did everything possible & correctly.

& Genns right, hope you've got some decent food inside yourself since then.

Can't help anyone if your stuck by the side of the road trying to start the car when its on empty .

Best wishes.

7.8 at 04.30 today. Sorry for not replying to some posts. I will go back through them. I expected to be tired yesterday, but not as completely shattered as I was. I also managed to mislay my glasses so reading anything was difficult. Found them eventually. They had fallen into a waste bin. All's well now after a sleep and a rest for these poor old bones.

This morning Libre says 3.2 finger prick says 4.6 not a huge difference but significant.
0 degrees here going to have to get the mobility scooter out from under a layer of snow and ice that still remain would rather of used the car today but it’s in Aberdeen with Keiran and anyway you can never find a parking space at the doctors.

Thank you @ianpspurs. We went into one of those Tomahawk places a couple of weeks go. The manager asked how things were. “Fine” I said, “just a pitty about the bacon” - smoked was the only option. Signed, dissapointing of Ipswich.

Fbg 6.8

Wildlife nighttime video
First snow. Cat Jade on the swing all night.
There were no badgers nor foxes this snowy night.
She does have my garage she can sleep in, or the tiered cat house for strays. She came into my garden in 2020 during Covid & Lockdowns. She does not trust humans. At the end of video she has heard me get up, my bedroom is right next to the swing. And she gets up and goes under the chair where I leave her breakfast.
The tiered cat house was made because the badgers destroyed all my on the ground stray cat houses.
It was made using a couple of plastic greenhouses. I lined each section with polystyrene and thermal insulation. It is against a wall, barricaded in with screening. And then in front of it I have large dustbins with various things that still grow in my vegetable garden... mostly herbs. And a few larger shrubs in them. In this way the cats can get in very easily, the badgers cannot get in at all. It would house quite a few cats, but how many actually sleep in there I don't know because I leave them be as most of them are not friendly to humans. But I can see at least four or five stray cats regularly going in and out of that area.

I had a new stray cat this morning.
It was too icy for me to go out. Most of my regular stray cats know the rules, they do know to wait their turn so I can feed them properly and individually.
I have forgotten how viciously hungry a stray cat could be...
I was cooking some chicken for my dinner, the stray cat was outside the kitchen door. I went out with a piece of chicken in my fingers, with the intention of giving it some cat food if it wanted more.
I nearly lost my fingers as it regarded the whole lot as food.
I didn't yell at it but moved back very quickly and it knew instantly it had done wrong. I left it a little bit more chicken and a bowl of cat food...

It is still out there, so I assume it could possibly take one of those cat pods in the tiered housing.

I have checked the trail cameras for last night, and there is only Jade on the swing again, no badgers or foxes.

I expect the woods where the foxes and badgers are, could be a bit impassable still...

I still have a chill from yesterday in my tummy and my hips from waiting in that cold breezy foyer for the diabetic appointment. And so I haven't done much today, done a bit of essential stuff, but otherwise sat in bed with electric blanket round my middle..

I can see the light is going now, so I need to feed the cats, set the trail cameras again,

Then make some fresh tea, and maybe have a spicy biscuit. Run out of ginger biccies.

Creative. Inks and spray water on a postcard.

Be safe in this icy weather.

Take care.

Smashing postcard art. Terrible that you and others had to sit in such a cold place and seemingly little concern about peoples health. That electric blanket will be working hard.
