What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

BG started off at 7.6, soon up to 8.1, when I started to move (alarm sounded) but I went back to sleep for another couple of hours and it came down to 7.0. (Just lost 2 sentences which just disappeared off the screen - try again.) Breakfast was carb heavy so I took insulin but must have misjudged it because Libre nagged at me for dropping too low. Oddly, I didn't feel that anything was wrong but when I checked I had dropped into the 3's, so a bit more of the breakfast carb. That didn't work and I dropped into the 2's - still felt OK though (must not be able to tell these days) but it was time to bring out the big guns - 2 digestive biscuits. That worked although, at that point I did start to feel it. Anyway, into the 5's now, so all's well. A bit tiring though.

Good morning all from Freddie our friendly fox. We went for our woodland walk yesterday morning despite the weather warning but it was better than forecast so we are glad that we went both for the fresh air and for the company. No test this morning, sorry, but I'm giving my fingers a rest after testing 4x/day for 2 weeks for my GP. Stay safe this week-end out of the wind and rain. :)
He is beautiful @dogslife

Another fall today, and a better day for Mrs L, another long day in the ward.
Washing on and preparation for tomorrow.
Bay window as feared leaks a lot during the constant rain overnight and did wake me up a time or two, garden sodden.
Gammon for tea.
Best wishes.

Kaleidoscope.
This is the ALT description I will put in this photo when I post it on Bluesky...

ALT:
A circular kaleidoscope image created from a rainy, grey view out of my window. Repeating triangular segments of the window frame form a star-like pattern around a textured, pebble-like centre. Bare tree branches radiate outward in symmetrical clusters. The word “believe,” hanging on the window, appears multiple times around the circle as part of the mirrored design. The overall effect is muted, wintry, and reflective.

Good night...

Here is a link to the Kaleidoscope.

Been a busy old week at work so not had time to post since Tuesday morning,

Upped the evening / dinner dose of metformin to 2x 500 mg on Monday, but it doesn’t seemed to have started to do a lot, so looks like the morning dose will have to go up to 2x 500mg, as the DN wanted when I saw her at the end of Oct,
The Dexcom seems to be picking up a pattern of high levels in the evening between 7pm and 9pm, which is partly why I put the evening dose of metformin up,

Thank you very much for the lovely horse compliment... I was in a flow moment when I did that... And just sort of completely disappeared into it... I really badly need to do more artwork. It helps me... I won't allow myself to start more artwork until I have finished my bedroom.. this is really a massive and clear out. It is for my next 30-year plan... I always have a 30-year plan... Which might sound a bit odd now I'm 76, but I'm still doing my 30-year plan...and I still have 2 more rooms to do...

Like you, I fear for the future with all this internet stuff. I am only a relative newbie to the internet. I bought my first computer, it was a little netbook in about 2010, But I spent most of the time being totally stuck and not knowing how to do anything. I then bought an iPad, might have been one of the first, because I needed something to communicate with my friends online while they were helping me to repair my netbook or sort out my netbook.. the iPad allowed me to communicate with my friend in the States (And we are still friends online), who I had only met online, to actually access my netbook and repair it. It was terrifying watching that cursor move all by itself. Obviously with hindsight that was a heck of a chance I took, But I have been very lucky because I had no one there to help me.
I do fear for the future with all this internet stuff getting more and more convoluted. I can see the day when I will retire to the hills, and not using any services at all, and I will be a total hermit....

Like you @Annb I do have a lot of specialist to get rid of... I have been to the charity shops and they don't want a lot of stuff I have. They tell me it is too specialist. So then I drive to the nearest Oxfam which is some considerable miles away and I try there. If they don't take it after my effort of doing that, I am afraid my items get shoved into the nearest street litter bin. Yes it is sad I do that, but I have expended as much time and effort as I am able, to find it a home. I make no apologies for doing that, and I do not need any kind ideas from other people on other ways to find it at home, because my time is valuable and I do not have any more time to do that...

Good luck in trying to find a home for your stuff and find some charity shops that will take it... But you are a bit restricted where you live...
Just to chime in on AI.

with a little more time on my hands, (retired but still work 2 days a week at moment)

I've tried to take some interest in more things.

Downside to the post accident was the mental health challenges I faced

No real interest in anything, all part of the PTSD/depression/etc apparently.

With help, meds & a little effort I've pushed myself to "be bothered" about things.

Fiddling with a win 10 laptop, not upgradable to win 11 was my start back, I think

I took to the web to switch to Linux.

Suffice to say I got it up and running fine.

But an upgrade to win 10 extended support borked my bios boot menu
(Who knew it would trigger a password to enter the bios.
a password put in by manufacturers..and not mentioned anywhere...aaghh)

Anyway, as a keen bodger it presented the challenge I've been missing.

Battery out to restart laptop back up with no password, didn't go well...lol.

Big fingers here broke a cable..ho hum.

So new laptop (w11 ) purchased.
Hard drive out of old laptop to use as external hard drive .and recover my data

Now, where normally i'd be on websites & forums hunting for links and answers, I gave chatgpt a go instead

Used it lightly before, as you do, but this time it was a worthy question.

Voice recorded my outline of what I hoped to do, chatgpt, told me it was an easy task.

Then led me through various steps to using hard drive as external, prevented an early disposal of said hard drive when it seemed to not function correctly.

A few guides offered got everything running smoothly, with a final pdf for looking after it and my new laptops hard drive .. Fabulous stuff.

Apparently the people Lauren works with use it similarly all the time.

Changed where I start my searches for definite.

As to using stuff as we age, I'd agree right now it's way too difficult for some

The vision I see is where the vocal request is enough to move the conversation/search/task forward so that step up to some computer skills may not need to be mastered in a few years time.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I hope

Like you @gennepher ,
I too came to computers late, work switched to computers and I was worried sick I'd at best look stupid, or at worst get sacked for being too thick to learn such wizardry...lol

So I bought my own cheap one and began learning how to use it.

Which brought to life the techie in me I never knew existed...lol.

Old dogs, new trick...us silver surfers rock .

Naughty badgers @gennepher. Actually, I hadn't realised just how destructive badgers are.
Watching them live from my bed through my full length glass door to the garden from my bedroom, they do look lovely and even cute!!! And I can watch them every single night!!!!!!

There are more holes than the one you seen in the photograph and I have been filling them in. I have run out of heavy stuff which they just dig out and so what I have started doing is using bird netting to fill the hole with.... they don't like the tactile feeling of that and so they don't dig any further in that hole and it is the easiest thing for me to do, it just cost some bird netting. But I have just filled in some other holes in the garden. And this one appeared during the recent storm..... it is never ending @Krystyna23040

I have just filled in a very deep hole, behind the hole that you see, with bird netting... and so they simply went to the other side of the hole and dug this one... I can only assume there are some grubs that are very tasty to them down there in the ground...

I did used to have the traditional English garden with lots of flowers and little decorative plants... that was a waste of money...
