What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Sorry for the soup disaster. I make lots of soup in an ordinary saucepan. Is that an option for you. Being a lazy cook, I bung everything in, add water/leftover gravy/ meat juices, bring to simmer, switch off or reduce heat right down, add lid and let it all brew. Electric cooker so retains heat - with gas you'd have to keep it on simmer.
My electric stove/cooker broke down over 10 years ago, and I never replaced it,,,so, I do not have a hob to cook on...I have an omelette maker which I fry eggs on and a bit of other cooking. I have an electric thing to make cakes and scone type things in. I had my soup maker.... so that gave me dinner or tea most days... I tend to eat nuts and a tiny bit of fruit in the morning for breakfast because I don't like eating first thing, but I know I need to eat something to take my medicines. I have an egg boiler. And a couple of other small things. But nothing I can make soup in... I did not replace my electric cooker because I have a tendency to forget about food which is cooking because I get too involved in something else. This started when my ex-husband many years ago left the chip pan on, and the kitchen went up in flames. I have always had a fear of fire even as a child from within the house (but not outside the house, I have no idea where that came from). So I now prefer things which have a timer, and if I forget, it doesn't matter... it just means it might be a bit cold by the time I remember!

Another painting from my sketchbook....
This one is of my old cat Popeye....

I got to the doctors surgery today, only to be told by reception that I had come on the wrong day. No, I have not. I said. Yes you have she said. Come back next week she said. No I said.

My appointment is today... You've got it wrong said receptionist, come back next week and so it went on... I told the receptionist that I had a text to say to come in a week early from the diabetic nurse. That makes no difference said the receptionist but is no appointment for you on here today.
At this point I told the receptionist to get hold of the diabetic nurse. No, the receptionist said there is no appointment for you today on my books with the diabetic nurse, you had better go back home....

Look I told her, I'm bursting to go to the toilet. When I come back I expect to find you have sorted this. Your appointment is next week repeated the receptionist...

I am going to the toilet I said.

I came back to find the receptionist busy talking on the phone. She was having a bit of a heated conversation.

The receptionist came round the counter to me. The diabetic nurse never put your new appointment in the diary she said. I will take you to her...

So I got a shortcut and a tour through some locked doors...

And the receptionist walked me into the diabetic nurse's room... And the receptionist pats me on the back before she leaves. She says something and I've no idea what she said...

I did not see that receptionist again when I left....

The diabetic nurse was working on her computer. Finally she looks at me and says you need to be on this medicine. I say I am already on a thousand mg of Metformin, and I also take Sitagliptin. Oh you can have this medicine as well she said, it will help your kidneys. It will help your heart and she came with some other things it would help, most importantly, it will help you lose a lot of weight. She prints out a prescription. And tells me to telephone her in a month's time. I cannot use the telephone because I am deaf. I explain yet again. Oh how can you contact me then asks the diabetic nurse? May I email you, I suggest?. No she says, you can text me she says. No, I can't, I explain because your text service is no reply only and I cannot text back to you. I have absolutely no means of communication with you. Oh I know said the diabetic nurse. Perhaps you could write me a letter in a month's time to tell me how you are getting on with this medicine...

She gives me a prescription.

The medicine is forxiga... dapagliflozin... 10mg.

I was very tired when I got home but I did some research. And I did not like the contraindications, nor the fact that it clashed with some of my other conditions and will exacerbate some of the problems I have, which I have prescribed medicine for. The diabetic nurse did not discuss any of this, and it's like she's taken no notice of any of the notes on my files at all... Obviously because I'm that concerned I am not going to start taking it... It's going to cause me more problems and I'm going to need more medicine to solve those problems.

Good night
