What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

On this, Neil's 59th birthday, the snow is melting away here on the Island. It's not warm, but it must be a bit above freezing. Neil doesn't do things like birthdays, Christmas, Easter and so on. Without being an old-fashioned Presbyterian, he acts very much like one. Takes after his Dad, who could never understand my "English" ways of celebrating things (other than New Year, though Neil doesn't celebrate that either).

BG was 7.8 at 04.30 today and is currently in the 9's despite not having any breakfast.
Happy birthday Neil.

Does that mean you were a mod back then@Lamont D?
I had more suits then, and better designed clothes in my twenties, than since.
I still have a Harrington jacket and parellels, about four Ben Shermans and of course the proverbial Sunday suit. I was brought up to be soulful and Northern soul, Tamla Motown, The Philly sound and of course Stax. I have little hair, but that has been a constant in my life.

Mrs L is home and snoring after getting some real food (she called it) down her.
A proper brew and a decent fag.
Ah, well it will take time to get through this part of her treatment, mental health practitioner coming in morning, hopefully with good news, not hopeful, to be honest. I have to be strong for her.
Family is great and helping so much.
Steak for tea, Mrs L 's favourite.
Best wishes.
Keep warm and safe.

Ain't no mountain high enough.
Ain't no valley low enough.
Ain't no river wide enough.
Keeping me from getting to you.

@Lamont D, much sympathy and admiration from us in Tilehurst Towers.
@Annb I hope Neil has a good birthday

Not only do the hospital want my blood sugars, they want my blood pressures coupled with weekly blood tests now.

Anyone know an app that can extract the doctors claws of the researchers etc etc from me. I’m of drown myself in koffy.

Then a very quietly whispered 'happy birthday Neil '

Almost t shirts weather, I suspect up there ...;)

Loving the song choice.

And she's home and eating...all good signs.

Can't run marathons after pneumonia, You get fitter over time and then do the best you can.

Same mentally I suspect.

Be some good days, be some bad days.

The aim, I think is to keep as much as is possible and slow down that decline we all eventually get.

However sadly as you know, it's not determined by our time on this earth.

All we can do is enjoy each and every moment for as long as we possibly can.

Joining @alf_Josiah in the respect you inspire here too..

Yes, yes, it's what we do, I here you say sagely,
But you're there doing it day after day, sir.
That's to be admired, regardless.

JJ.

Thanks all for the good wishes for Neil. He's spent much of the day trying to fix the screen wipers on the Scenic. Not successfully - something broke so he's had to cobble it together and get a new one tomorrow. He also managed to break the tool for extracting the bearing, so will have to get a new one of those tomorrow as well.

It is always T-shirt weather here @jjraak - it just depends how many layers you put on top.

Thanks @jjraak, I am in awe of your words, once again, but as some pacemaker once said....I Like It!

Mrs L is having a good day.
Too many bad ones in the last couple of months.
I'm not convinced that this is the best for her.

Anyway as always something else comes along to disturb the rhythm of life.
And of course, it was unavoidable. And
My bins broke. Or I should say, my spectacles decided to break at the nose part, so I had two monoglasses, I used an old pair for a while but my son gave me a lift to the opticians.
I was fearing the worst of course. But was told to wait.
The optician selected a couple of frames, and asked which one I preferred, both very similar to the broken ones. He took the selected frame into the back, within five minutes, he came back in and sized them as a good fit, a little adjustment, and perfect.
I asked what the damage, sorry, I should say, How much?
The optician answered by saying the frame was under warrenty.
Wow!
A brand new pair of bins. (Glasses) for nowt. (No money, free, gratis)
And so much like my old pair!!!!!!!

And FBG this morning is around the 7mmols range.

Best wishes.

Good morning everyone on a no snow show this morning in the dark and dangerous north.
5.9 this am
Dental check up today which translates to some bloke counting my teeth and some other person writing it down - and all for the bargain price of £45!
Still can’t attach anything to this site, wonder if it will ever be fixed?
Stay well, these are the good days - the alternative will be televised.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.
Things I never new, but do now
1. I and me’s and myself must include my blood sugar reading in my first post. My blood sugars this morning were 7.8
2. How to tie my laces, yesterday a nurse did them for me.
3. Everything else.

Luckily today is a medical stuff free day and after my first shower in 2 weeks or so I will be able to sneak up on our postyman and bark at him, he won’t be able to smell me coming.
Mrs J is moving around, which means I shall my don tea wallah hat. I can relax all has gone quiet, oh no……

9.9 at 03.20 today. In the 8's now after breakfast and 2 lots of pills and 2 cups of tea.

Grey but quiet so far. Apparently it's 2C outside so snow thawing. More forecast but I'm hoping we get back from town before that happens.

Thursday again, so it's leg bandaging day. With these useless hands I'm having great difficulty showering and dressing but am just about managing. I just can't put my socks and shoes on. Neil is very obliging though, so I can go to the ball.

Good morning and best wishes to all. (I won't be posting for a while as I'm giving my fingers a rest from testing but will be following you all with interest as usual). :)

Well, we had a good meeting this morning.
Sorry 7mmols range again this morning.
The mental health practitioner is coming back tomorrow with more people to try and help Mrs L.
With the plan to go forward. Too much to put here.
Maybe, hopefully, Mrs L has agreed to more respite care.
Mrs L wants to cook tomorrow which mum will be doing most of if.

Please do post @dogslife. I am sure that it will be ok not to include your fbg, but still post on this thread, if fingers are very sore and need a rest.
Thank you for your encouraging words@Ktystyna230040. Sadly the recent moderator's post said otherwise and I do not wish to break the rules of the forum. I will be keeping in touch every day though as usual. Stay warm and safe. :)
