Hey hey hey guys :) Does your diabetes ever affect you at school/in exams?

As well as the 25% extra time & rest breaks you can apply for an extra percentage if there were circumstances which affected your performance - i.e. erratic blood sugars :) I just finished my A levels too, hope yours went well, feel free to message me any time :)

    Mental Health/diabetes control

Dilema: when I'm depressed I am completely apathetic towards my diabetes - I don't check my bloodsugar and my sugars are too high which of course makes me feel worse and just generally horrible I've tried to break out of this cycle but nothing ever works for more than a week and I'm back into...

Think I need a big wake up call...

What worked for me is having everything I wanna eat for the day that's sugary in a tin/tub thingy. don't limit it, put a decent amount in there, then just make sure you're not eating it all the time - set routines and certain times to eat stuff, because injecting in relation to eating, it's...

    Latitude Festival

I'm going up to Latitude fest. on Thursday and unsure on how to keep insulin cool? I'm staying for the full weekend, i.e. about 4 days, and I'm on an insulin pump. The weather forecast for the weekend is really **** hot, there's meant to be a heatwave aka 25-32 degrees. So, any suggestions? The...

    Beer and raising BS levels

A little, but I normally find it's the day after.. I always go low and have massive swings between high and low as my liver's functions are inhibited by alcohol i.e. no bounce back or natural release of sugar.

    Driving license

Does my diabetes effect whether or not I can get a provisional license? I've heard stories about people being declined a license on the basis or having T1, is this true? Do I need a doctors note etc. Any info would be great.

should i lower by basil insulin?

Do a carb free day, ie just meant and proteins and salad (Google no carb foods) If you go low, you know you need to alter the basal rates, if your levels stay within your desired range, it's your carb or correction ratios that need changing.

NHS for t1/2 and theories of t1

Can someone explain to me why the NHS has money to provide for a huge increase in type 2 diabetes yet type 1 still needs to be fundraised for? Am I being ignorant? Or is the funding relative to the number of people diagnosed? I'm not being sarcastic; I'm genuinely asking. Also, what are the...

    Heart

Do high bloodsugars correlate with heart problems? e.g. high bp, cardiovascular disease... anything really? Since having better control, my blood pressure has decreased and I'm wondering if the two correlate or if it's to do with a healthier lifestyle.

New to pumping, finding it a pain!

It settles down I promise! Before pump my Hba1cs were 10/110, not 7/8 :) Notmally the main change is a change in ratios (mine have gone from things like 1:20 to 1:7 for carbs) something that's really helped me is carb free days.. Just don't eat anything with carbs in all day (ie just meat...
