Birmingham Event Saturday 1st Sept Was A Great Success I'm Very Happy To Say

Loving you in your t shirt @shelley262 . I think you should forward the photo to DCUK. Fabulous. I have my keyring on my keys. My wristband on and I'm going to use my new pen tomorrow. Just back from the bbq and tired but tomorrow I'm going to ask Eric to take a pic of me in my t shirt too. It was a very special 2 days. Loved seeing people enjoying themselves with like minded people. The PR team will be putting our story out there. Watching this space with much interest!

The BBQ today. I was talking to a friend who's mum has just had a toe amputated. Type 2. Ex nurse. Still eating jacket potatoes etc thinking she is eating healthy food. My friend was astonished with what I was telling her. It's very sad.It doesn't have to be that way.

That was a great idea you had to continue in Brum for a couple more days. What an amazing city it is. So much atmosphere. Good to see you are soaking it up @Goonergal

The pleasure was all mine. It was fantastic to see you there. So glad i got the chance to thank you personally for all your help and guidance not just to me but for so many others.

Yes wouldn't that be great! Well this one was just setting the foundations down on which we can build to our design

Your stop off on your journey home sounded just the tonic after such a hectic and hot day. And well done hubby for tuning in to what would finish your day off nicely. Great to meet you.

If you all recall, we were talking about so - can you actually get away with eating a carb now and again. I'v been having a teeny tiny twitter spat with a former colleague of Prof Noakes.
It spurred me into eating a big pile of dauphnoise potatoes at dinner tonight - results attached ....... 2 hrs back to normal. cool

I’d like to reiterate what others have said and thank you @Debandez for doing such a great job, and in such a short time. Thanks also to @shelley262 and @Rachox who supported you I know. Oh and also to Eric, what a lovely chap - definitely a keeper Deb.

It felt like meeting up with old friends to me, a super weekend. It was so nice to be able to talk about lchf and diabetes without fear of being seen as evangelising - I think family and friends get a bit fed up with me banging on about it sometimes.

TripAdvisor review done, great idea to write to Jamie also @Debandez

@Goonergal you can’t have too many jumpers! I also have a thing for buying them - didn’t use to wear them at all when I was heavier as they made me feel all ‘bunchy’ and uncomfortable. I love them now.

Hi All,

LAte to the party (as usual). Got back home late yesterday afternoon, and then had a lovely quiet eveing without technology, so only just seen this thread.

It was LOVELY to see you all, and am delighted that I came. Also sorry I missed that amazing meal and dessert.

It was so impressive to see the vast amount of weight you had lost. Incredibly inspiring, and I hope that DCUK can use your wonderful success stories to help other people achieve the same.

And I also want to chime in to thank @Debandez @shelley262 @Rachox and all the team at DCUK HQ for the effort they put in and how successful it was in such a short time. Marvellous.

Hope there will be another close enough for me to attend, cos if so, I'm there!

(and @Goonergal I still don't know if you introducing me to 5 guys naked burgers was a good idea or not. Had three of them in three days, and now I am home, I am missing them already!!!)

Sounds like I need to stay away from 5 guys not tried them yet.......
Good to meet you @Brunneria - a wonderful couple of days

It was great to meet familiar names and get advise face to face from experienced low-carbers thanks @Debandez for organising it. Looking forward to the next one

Thank you @Debandez and other helpers for making this event happen - I really enjoyed hanging out with like minded people and be able to bang on about lchf eating and diabetes all afternoon
It was fantastic to hear people’s stories in the flesh. And it started to make me feel that disagreeing with the conventional advice that most doctors trot out for newly diagnosed diabetics is actually normal! Great to feel I am not alone in this thinking. Together I am sure we can make a difference and change the script!

You bet we can I'm straight on to DCUK to take pur efforts forward. Let's see where we go from here. It was fantastic to meet you. And as you day it was so wonderful to just talk diabetes with people who just get where we are and where we need to be. These people are but a few of the many. There isn't just our forum that supports this woe to control BS either. I've got my eyes on others!

@DJC3 what an absolute pleasure to meet you.

From the feed back coming in its essential we do another. Maybe one every 6 months or so. Or maybe 3 at once in different areas to avoid lengthy commutes, no PR team but just us to have a get together. Not an expensive venue but just a local Wetherspoons or similar pub or even a nice cafe/garden centre. The world is our oyster. The foundations are set.

It sounds like 5 guys is the future @Brunneria

It was an absolute pleasure to meet you.

The foundations are in place and we an build on them. Maybe have 2 or 3 meetups spread out so people can get to them without having to travel from one end of the country to another. The lengths people came to this event blew me away! Especially when they have heavy commitments. I was overwhelmed. Thanks again.
